Abstract

This study used qualitative research method includes a study of literature, analysis descriptive method, historical and philosophical approach by considering substantial and functional relation between information and opinion from Jabir Ibn Hayyan’s manuscripts, ‘Mukhtâr Rasâ’il vol. 1 (collected by Paul Kraus, 1935). Even though he was influenced by mysticism, Jabir categorized as a pioneer of modern chemistry knowledge with empirical principle and scientific method base on experiment, contrary to the development was inclined of speculative rational at the time, mixing with Greek mysticism. His concept of atom is more advanced than Democritus atomism, parallel to Dalton’s atomic theory. His concept of Mizan mixing mysticism influence and cosmology, compounding quantitative and qualitative aspects of chemistry processes. Jabir used chemistry technique such as distillation, evaporation, sublimation, filtration, metal mixture, calcinations and so on.

Abstract

Religiousity has not received adequate attention among scientists and educational researchers. Fundamental problems faced by the Islamic university and school is how to strengthen the integration of religiousity into science education. It should be further explored the life and work of Muslim chemists. In this case, Jabir ibn Hayyan, seems to be the most authoritative figures Muslim chemists to be explored further. This research is based on factual historical research model. The object of this study is a collection of writings Jabir ibn Hayyan Classical Arabic in Mukhtar Rasa `il vol.1 (scripted by Paul Kraus 1935), using a qualitative approach to descriptive analytical method, combining historical and philosophical approach, taking into account the substantial and functional relationship between information and obtained and the views contained in the manuscript.  Jabir had engage religiousity his Philosophical thought on divinity, universe, human, society, and knowledge. He had also enhanced religiousity into educational practice, especially in chemistry education. His thoughts could be simplified as an integrative educational thought and balance. Jabir promote holistic education that integrates the various aspects in a balanced education fields, and encourage positive interaction between educators and learners, prioritize based on experiment and observation.Keywords:  religiousity, chemistry, science, education, philosophy

Abstract

ABSTRAK                                                                            Pelaksanaan penilaiain portofolio masih memiliki keterbatasan, diantaranya dibutuhkan waktu cukup lama dalam pelaksanaannya, dibututuhkan tempat untuk pengumpulan setiap portofolio. Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi, diharapkan pengembangan penilaiain electronic portfolio (e-portfolio) dapat menjadi solusi keterbatasan penilaian portofolio konvensional. Penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengikuti model Borg and Gall yang dimodifikasi Sukmadinata dengan melibatkan tiga langkah utama, yaitu : 1) studi pendahuluan, 2) pengembangan, dan 3) pengujian (implementasi) yang melibatkan dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kontrol dengan design pre-test post-test control group design. Hasil penelitian diperoleh electronic portfolio berupa web berbasis Moodle dengan alamat http://klieks.com dengan kualitas penilaian produk dari aspek rekayasa perangkat lunak 82% (sangat baik), aspek visual/tampilan 75% (baik), aspek komunikasi visual 78% (baik). Electronic portfolio efektif dalam meningkatkan tugas portofolio siswa serta dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen. Tanggapan siswa terhadap implementasi electronic portfolio termasuk kategori kuat. Kata Kunci : Elektronik portfolio, assessment   ABSTRACT The implementation of portfolio assessment still has limitations, including the need for a long time in its implementation, a place for gathering each portfolio is needed. Along with technological developments, it is expected that the development of electronic portfolio assessment (e-portfolio) can be a solution to the limitations of conventional portfolio assessment. This research development uses the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). This development research follows the Borg and Gall model modified by Sukmadinata involving three main steps, namely: 1) preliminary study, 2) development, and 3) testing (implementation) which involves two classes, namely the experimental and control class with pre-test design post-test control group design. The results obtained by the electronic portfolio of web-based Moodle address http://klieks.com with the quality of product assessment from the aspect of software engineering 82% (very good), visual aspects / appearance 75% (good), visual communication aspects 78% ( well). Electronic portfolio is effective in increasing student portfolio assignments and can improve student learning outcomes in the experimental class. Student responses to the implementation of the electronic portfolio included in the strong category. Keywords: electronic portfolio, assessment
