Abstract

Hand hygiene is a hand-cleaning procedure with soap or antiseptic liquid from dirt. One component of the service quality indicators in hospitals is the incidence of infections that can be prevented by hand hygiene. Root cause analysis shows that knowledge factor is a determinant of hand hygiene compliance behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge of nurses and five moment behavior for hand hygiene in RSUD dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Sragen. This type of research is descriptive correlational with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling or samples were taken with consideration according to the phenomenon of research that fulfilled the inclusion criteria as many as 53 nurses in the RSUD dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Sragen. The data analysis technique used is the non-parametric statistical Rank Spearman test (rho). The results of the research of majority nurse knowledge in the good category were 40 respondents (75.5%) and nurses' five moment compliance behaviors for hand hygiene the majority of the good categories were 41 respondents (77.4%). The results of the statistical test with the Spearman Rank test obtained a p value of 0,000 <0,05. The conclusion is there is a relationship between knowledge of nurses and five-moment compliance behavior for hand hygiene in RSUD dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Sragen.
