Abstract

Antibiotics have an inhibitory effect on the growth of microorganisms [1]. The inappropriate use of antibiotics has an impact on human health, animals and the environment [2,3]. Therefore prescription Antibiotic use should be given by veterinarian. In fact, a number of breeders are practicing antibiotic beef cattle without a veterinary prescription. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of antibiotics used without prescription from veterinarians by farmers in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

Anisakiasis is a disease caused by Anisakis sp. and classified as a dangerous zoonosis. The main source of infection in humans is consuming raw fish containing Anisakis sp. Larvae. Various diagnostic techniques are being developed to detect the incidence of anisakiasis. Diagnostic techniques currently used are the Rapid test and the molecular test. Molecular techniques have recently been developed as effective tools not only for the diagnosis of individual cases but also for the taxonomic and evolutionary study of anisakis nematodes. This literature study aims to determine the methods and work procedures as well as the level of accuracy of the various methods used to detect Anisakis sp .. Reference sources are taken in the form of articles, theses, journals, and e-books related to the title of the literature study being explored. via Google Scholar and with the help of the Mendeley app. Based on a review of literature studies, it can be seen that the method used to detect Anisakis sp. with a low level of accuracy namely KIT, LAMP Assay and SEM, while the methods with a high level of accuracy are PCR-RFLP and RT-PCR and the most effective methods are used to detect Anisakis sp. are PCR-RFLP and RT-PCR because the processing time is fast and can provide accurate results.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and identify the effect of variations in the age of broiler eggs on the physical and microbiological quality of eggs as well as the state of hygiene and sanitation at the traditional market for selling eggs in Kupang City (Pasar Kasih-Naikoten 1, Pasar Oeba, Oebobo Market, Oesapa Market, and Pasar Oesapa). Penfui). The samples used in this study were 68 respondents and 68 samples of broiler eggs. Data were analyzed descriptively. Variations in egg age are divided into producers and distributors. Physical quality parameters observed were egg weight, egg yolk index, egg white index, Haugh Unit, and pH. The microbiological quality parameter observed was the amount of microbial contamination in eggs. The results of the physical and microbiological quality test of eggs from producers have a better value than distributors because the age of eggs from producers is younger than distributors. The effect of variations in egg age on physical and microbiological quality showed that the longer the age of the eggs, the egg weight, egg white index, yolk index and Haugh Unit decreased. Meanwhile, the longer the age of the eggs, the pH and the amount of microbial contamination will increase. Of the five markets where samples were taken, eggs in the Oebobo Market that came from producers had a shorter egg age variation so that the results of the physical quality test (meets all 6 parameters) and microbiological (1.8x104 cfu/gr) were the best. Meanwhile, hygiene and sanitation factors are more at risk of affecting the microbiological quality of eggs. The hygiene and sanitation of broiler eggs in the Kupang City Traditional Market is quite low due to the lack of information on handling good hygiene and sanitation for broiler egg traders.

Abstract

Tuna is often infected with endoparasites, one of which is the Anisakis sp. parasite. Anisakis sp. It is zoonotic, causing Anisakiasis in humans. In tuna, the parasite predilection of Anisakis sp. occurs in the digestive organs and muscles. The purpose of this study was to identify, as well as to determine the prevalence and degree of infection with the parasite Anisakis sp. on tuna in the waters of Ende Town. In this study, samples were taken from three markets in Ende Town, namely Mbonga Wani Market, Senggol Market and Wolowona Market. The sample of tuna that was taken was bullet tuna (Auxis rochei) with a total sample of 95 bullet tuna (Auxis rochei). From the results, it was shown that Anisakis sp. which infects bullet tuna (Auxis rochei) is the parasite Anisakis sp. type I. This is characterized by finding mucrons, boring teeth and ventriculus. In bullet tuna (Auxis rochei) the prevalence of Anisakis sp. is 26.31% and is included in the light category. On the prevalence of Anisakis sp. based on body length, bullet tuna (Auxis rochei) measuring 10cm – 20cm has a prevalence value of 10.52% while bullet tuna (Auxis rochei) measuring 20cm – 30cm has a prevalence of 36.84%. The value of the parasite infection degree Anisakis sp. on bullet tuna (Auxis rochei) is in the medium category with the infection degree value of 11.12.

Abstract

Anisakis sp. is an endoparasite in fish that is zoonotic, so it can cause anisakiasis disease in humans when consuming fish with Anisakis sp.. L\arvae of Anisakis sp. predilection for fish digestive tract including intestine, stomach, liver, gonads, eggs and fish muscles. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of Anisakis sp. and look at the prevalence rate and the degree of infection of Anisakis sp. on mackarel fish, skipjack tuna fish, mullet fish, and sardine fish. The research method was carried out by taking 120 fish samples consisting of 30 mackarel fish, 30 skipjack tuna fish, 30 mullet fish, and 30 sardine fish in fish sale place, Sulamu District, Kupang Regency. The samples were then operated on to observe the presence or absence of Anisakis sp. larvae. in the digestive organs and muscles of fish. Anisakis sp. larvae. which were found were cleaned of debris using 70% NaCl, then fixed with 70% alcohol, and stained with Semichen acetic carmine, then dehydrated in stages using 70%, 85% and 95% alcohol and identification of Anisakis sp. under the microscope. The results of this study found the larvae of Anisakis sp. On mackarel fish, skipjack tuna fish and mullet fish including Anisakis sp. Type I, characterized by the presence of a booring tooth (anterior), venticulus and mucron (posterior). The prevalence of Anisakis sp. larvae. on tuna by 46.66%, skipjack 26.66%, mullet fish 16.66% and tembang fish 0% or no larvae of Anisakis sp. The degree of infection of Anisakis sp. in mackarel fish 19.42 parasites/tail, skipjack tuna fish 17.75 parasites/tail, mullet fish 3 parasites/tail and sardine fish 0 parasites/tail.

Abstract

Milk contains carbohydrates (lactose), protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. Horse milk has a whey protein composition such as lactoferrin, lysozyme, beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactoalbumin, immunoglobulin (Ig) and Bovine Serum Albumin. This literature study was conducted to describe the mechanism of the ability of antiviral compounds that contained in horse milk protein against viruses fromb the genus Flavivirus, the mechanism of ability of antiviral compounds contained in horse milk proteins against viruses from the genus Betacoronavirus. The preparation of this literature study was carried out from August to October 2021 which included searching references or libraries that were closely related to the title of Google Scholar using the Mendeley application, resumes and writing literature studies related to the workings of the antiviral compounds present in milk protein. horse which can be a therapeutic agent for viral disease in animals of the genus Flavivirus. Based on the literature review of the antiviral compounds from horse milk protein studied, it can be concluded that lactoferrin inhibits Japanese encephalitis virus infection in host cells mediated by lobes and lobes. Lactoferrin inhibits the attachment of SARS-CoV-2 to the host cell membrane involving the interaction of Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) on the surface of the host cell membrane. An envelope (E) protein found on the surface of the dengue virus hermorrhagic fever (DBD) that involved in virus transfer in host cells then infecting host cells and can be hindered by the ability of lactoferrin to interfere with the virus ability to infect host cells by attach the the Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs).

Abstract

Cats are a pet that is popular with many people. Cat health is an aspect that needs to be considered. Several diseases that are often found in cats are caused by worm parasites such as toxocariasis and protozoa such as coccidiosis. Diseases caused by these parasites show almost the same symptoms, namely diarrhea, decreased appetite, weakness, anorexia, and others which can be confirmed by fecal examination. Based on the results of laboratory examinations, the results showed that there were isospora sp oocysts. and Toxocara cati worm eggs. The treatment given was an antihelminthic, namely Pirantel Pamoate and antibiotics, namely Metronidazole. Prevention for Isospora sp infection. and T. cati need to pay attention to sanitation and cleanliness or cage management including a good environment as well as regular inspection and administration of worm medicine and regular health checks.
