Abstract

It is a fact that emojis are a growing phenomenon in the last few years. They have gained their popularity with their typical varieties in the digital era across countries in the world. The emojis are used among people as a way to assist the process of conveying emotions in textual communication that lacks nonlinguistic cues. Emojis were created and developed as visual mixed expressions of sentiments, attitudes, or moods for use in modern communication technologies. Then, in more broad perspective and context, in term usages, they are also generally perceived that they do not only have unique semantic and emotional features, but also are closely related to many areas such as marketing, law, education, health, etc. This paper reviews the nature of emoji, the developmental history of emojis, the functions of emojis in communication, and the usages of emojis in a real-digital world interaction and communication. Key words: emoji, function of emojis in communication, and the usages of emoji in digital world.

Abstract

Public speaking is a kind of or a part of art of delivering speech in front of the audiences. It is also the art of communication science effectively and properly. However, in many social circumstances and contexts of public speaking, many speakers still seemingly anxious and cannot effectively and properly deliver their speech. This may happen due to some reasons such as unfamiliar with the topic, the background of the audience, lack of language mastery (for example English), the ways and norm, and rules as well to speak in public. This paper attempt to mainly discusses about the nature of public speaking, the common types of public speaking, factors affecting the public speaking, and public speaking in a multilingual world.Key words: public speaking, types of public speaking, factors affecting public speaking, and multilingual world.

Abstract

It is a fact that in the last few years the science and technology have developed rapidly and widely across the world. Their development has brought a number of positive and significant impacts for human life such as easy transportation, wide and various job opportunity, working mechanization and automation, longer life span, etc. But in order to sustainably and widely develop and implement the science and technology, human beings must understand and master the language of the science and technology proficiently. Nevertheless, many students, scholars, academicians, researchers, even scientists find hard to understand and master the language of science and technology well. This paper attempt at exploring the nature of language of science and technology, the characteristic features, and the historical development of the language and science across time. Key words: The language of science and technology, linguistic features, and historical development
