Abstract

This purpose of this research is to describe the errors of spelling in expository composition of class X MIPA 1 at SMA negeri 3 Kota Jambi academic year 2018/2019. This research used qualitative descriptive method. The data of this research was sequence of sentences of students’ writing with spelling errors. The primary data was students’ expository composition of class X MIPA 1 at SMA Negeri 3 Kota Jambi Tahun academic year 2018/2019. Based on the result of the analysis, it can be found that the errors of spelling in expository composition of students’ class X MIPA 1 semeter I SMA negeri 3 kota Jambi tahun ajaran 2018/2019 were 713 errors. The errors of spelling consists of 588 errors of using capital letter in the beginning of the sentence; 4 errors of using capital letter in the beginning of the sentence with direct quote; 10 errors of using capital letter as the first letter of nation name; 2 errors of using capital letter as the first letter of days’ name; 3 errors of capital letter as the first letter of geography;14 errors of capital letter of every word in the title of their composition. Moreover, there following errors of the use of comma is; 60 errors of comma in between of elements of explanation; 4 errors of comma before conjunction; 11 errors of comma behind the conjunction of sentences; 7 errors of comma in separating direct quote from the other parts of the sentence; 2 errors of comma in between of district or country’s name which is written in sequence; 9 errors of comma on the back of the information of the beginning of the sentence which is used to avoid error of reading.

Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the forms and usage of temporal conjunction by using Indriani and Chaer theory. This research explains the forms and usage of temporal conjunction in the kumpulan cerita rakyat Melayu Jambi by Iskandar Zakaria. This research is qualitative descriptive. The data of this research is kumpulan cerita rakyat Melayu Jambi by Iskandar Zakaria (Discourse Analysis). The technique of data collection is by using documentation technique. The result of this research shows the description about the forms and usage of temporal conjunction in the Kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Melayu Jambi by Iskandar Zakaria (Discourse Analysis). Those forms are ketika, sewaktu, sementara, sebelum, setelah, and selagi. Those forms are specified based on the sequence of permulaan, waktu bersamaan, waktu berurutan, and waktu batas akhir in which each of them has their own function.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to: (1) explaining there a contribution reading in the exposition text writing skills students class X SMA Negeri Kota Jambi; (2) explaining there a contribution mastery of sentence in the exposition text writing skills students class X SMA Negeri Kota Jambi; and (3) explaining there a contribution reading and mastery of sentence in the exposition tex twriting skills students class X SMA Negeri Kota Jambi. This research is a quantitative method used descriptive and correlational design. Samples were taken by proportional random sampling. Samples were taken 10% of the student population of each class, ie 80 people. Data of this research is the result of reading the score, score result mastery of sentence, and scores the results of the writing skills of exposition text converted into value. Based on the results of research and discussion that has been raised, it can be concluded that the interest in reading and mastery of sentence also determine students writing skills, especially writing skills exposition text. Exposition text writing skills students will increase if interest in reading and comprehension of sentences has also increased. So, interest in reading and mastery of mastery contribute significantly to the skill of writing texts exposition, although there are many other variables that affect writing skills.

Abstract

The need to apply science and technology is becoming an increasingly important need. For educators, the need for mastery of technology is something that must be mastered to support the learning process. The aim of this program is to equip elementary school teachers with mastery of using the Internet to facilitate the search for English learning resources and to introduce and deepen their knowledge of English learning aid sites to improve teacher performance. There are five stages in implementing a community service program to find English learning resources in Internet Usage Seminars: Introduction Stage, Social and Audience Stage, Development Stage, Internet usage training and final assessment stage. The conference lasted for two days. The first day of activity is in the form of material procurement. The second day focused on Internet usage practices. The results of measuring the satisfaction of the training participants showed that almost all participants were satisfied with the training they attended. Meanwhile, the results of the effectiveness measurement show that the training is effective and has an impact on the participants.
