Abstract

Mastery of foreign languages, especially English, is very important in efforts to improve the quality of human resources in the world of education. By imposing international quality standards, a campus has committed to enter a management domain that is no longer based on local quality standards and demands. Bilingual delivery of materials is a mandatory requirement for international standard schools. Of course, this is impossible if the teachers/teachers do not have English language competence. TOEFL equivalent English training is one of the efforts that can be done to improve the ability to master English for Mathematics students. Therefore, a TOEFL Preparation Course training program was conducted for students of the Mathematics Education study program FKIP Unbar to improve students' English skills. This program is carried out for 4 months. The training is divided into three basic skills, namely, Listening, Structure and Written Expression, and Reading Comprehension. Each session is held for 90 minutes with a balance of theory and practice in the form of working on practice questions. Meanwhile, to determine the initial and final abilities of the participants, a pre-test and post-test were carried out with TOEFL equivalent English test material. The results of this activity showed that students were satisfied and enthusiastic about participating in the training. In addition, there was an increase in students' English skills as indicated by an increase in post-test scores.

Abstract

Penelitianbertujuanmengetahuikemampuanpemecahan masalah matematis ditinjau dari gaya kognitif field dependent dan field independent pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Kota Jambi Tahun Ajaran 2017-2018 yang berjumlah 198 siswa. Subjek yang diambil dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 6 orang, yaitu 3 siswa dengan gaya kognitif field dependent dan 3 siswa siswa dengan gaya kognitif field independent. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode angket tes gaya kognitif, tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan pedoman wawancara. Data yang diperlukan diperoleh melalui tes pemecahan masalah matematis, dan pedoman wawancara yang telah diuji terlebih dahulu melalui uji pendapat validator, data tes angket gaya kognitif telah baku tanpa diuji cobakan oleh pendapat validator. Teknik analisis data  yaitu meliputi (1) reduksi data, (2) pemaparan data, dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan serta digunakan triangulasi waktu. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara keenam subjek pada langkah menyelesaikan masalah dan mengecek kembali, yaitu subjek FI dalam menyelesaikan masalah sesuai rencana dan mengecek kembali hasil yang diperoleh lebih baik dibandingkan subjek FD dalam menyelesaikan masalah dan mengecek kembali hasil.Hal ini terlihat dari jawaban subjek dan indicator pemecahan masalah matematis, kemudian terlihat dari jawaban tes wawancara berdasarkan tahapan Polya. Kata Kunci:Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis, Gaya Kognitif Field Dependent dan Field Independent.

Abstract

Students' mathematical communication skills are still unsatisfactory, the average student error shows an error in expressing daily events in the language of mathematics. This is due to a lack of student understanding of the material that has been taught, and the level of students' creativity in recording important concepts contained in the content of the subject matter is still not satisfactory, student records tend to be still boring. The purpose of this study are: (1) to describe the implementation of mind mapping in the scientific approach to improve students' mathematical communication skills, and (2) describe the results of the assessment of mathematical communication skills that occur in students after learning is done with mind mapping in the scientific approach. The type of research that the author is doing is included in classroom action research (CAR). The author uses interview, observation, test and documentation methods. As for the analysis, the author uses descriptive qualitative analysis techniques, namely in the form of qualitative data and quantitative data that the author obtained during direct observation in the field. The research findings show that the application of mind mapping in the scientific approach can improve mathematical communication skills in students of Jambi City Vocational High School 9. (1) The process of implementing mind mapping with a scientific approach to improve students' mathematical communication skills can run smoothly as planned. The application of mind mapping has provided new experiences for students and teachers and provides several benefits, the benefits of mind mapping obtained include: students become the spirit of learning, students easily remember lessons and students gain drawing experience to find the relationship between one concept and another concept and the teacher easier to explain the subject matter to students; (2) on the assessment of students 'mathematical communication skills, from quantitative data the acquisition of scores on students' mathematical communication obtained a high enough value, namely in the first cycle the average value obtained was 75.87 or around 77.2%, in the second cycle there was an increase namely 80.1 or around 87.1%.Keywords: Mind Mapping, scientific approach, and mathematical communication skills

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang menghasilkan suatu produk berupa Media pembelajaran matematika Menggunakan Adobe Flash Cs6 Dengan Pendekatan Contextual Teaching And Learning Pada Materi Garis Dan Sudut Kelas VII. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Instrumen yang digunakan adalah (1) angket evaluasi ahli media, (2) angket evaluasi ahli desain, (3) angket evaluasi ahli materi, dan (4) angket respon siswa. Uji coba dilakukan dalam 3 tahap yaitu uji coba perorangan, uji coba kelompok kecil, dan ujicoba lapangan. Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini adalah 26 siswa kelas VII D SMP N 6 Kota Jambi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) menghasilkan media pembelajaran Matematika Menggunakan Adobe Flash Cs6 Dengan Pendekatan Contextual Teaching And Learning Pada Materi Garis Dan Sudut, (2) kualitas media pembelajaran dilihat dari aspek kevalidan media pembelajaran dari ahli media sebesar 77,89% dengan kategori valid, ahli desain sebesar 82,66% dengan kategori valid, dan ahli desain sebesar 84% dengan kategori valid. Kualitas media pembelajaran dilihat dari aspek kepraktisan media pembelajaran dilihat dari penilaian respon siswa pada uji perorangan sebesar 83,33%, pada uji kelompok kecil sebesar 81,56%, dan pada pada uji lapangan sebesar 80,35% dengan kategori praktis. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut maka media pembelajaran Matematika Menggunakan Adobe Flash Cs6 Dengan Pendekatan Contextual Teaching And Learning Pada Materi Garis Dan Sudut  yang dikembangkan sangat layak digunakan sebagai referensi bahan ajar dalam proses pembelajaran. Kata Kunci : ADDIE ; Adobe Flash Cs6; Contextual Teaching and Learning; Garis dan Sudut; Media Pembelajaran.

Abstract

Soal-soal tipe PISA merupakan salah satu tipe soal yang dapat digunakan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (high order thinking) siswa, salah satunya kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Karena itu dikembangkan soal-soal tipe PISA untuk mengukur kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Rumusan masalahnya yaitu; 1) Bagaimanakah mengembangkan soal-soal tipe PISA yang valid dan  praktis untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa tingkat SMP? 2) Bagaimanakah efek potensial uji coba soal-soal tipe PISA yang dihasilkan terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP N 17 Kota Jambi? Sedangkan tujuannya adalah 1) Menghasilkan soal tipe PISA yang valid dan praktis untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa tingkat SMP, 2) Mengetahui efek potensial penerapan soal-soal tipe PISA yang dihasilkan terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMPN 17 Kota Jambi. Metode penelitiannya development research dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas IX SMP N 17 Kota Jambi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan; 1) walk trough, 2) dokumentasi, 3) tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini adalah soal-soal matematika tipe PISA untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sebanyak 10 butir berbentuk uraian (open construct response) yang valid dan praktis. Soal-soal ini mempunyai efek yang diketahui dari analisis jawaban siswa dan wawancara ketika pelaksanaan uji coba soal dimana siswa dapat mengeksplor kemampuan komunikasi matematisnya. Kata kunci: soal tipe PISA, komunikasi matematis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze and describe the characters of intuitive thinking students of the type of learning style of judging in solving math problems. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The subject of the study was the tenth grade students of Batanghari 5 State Senior High School with a total of 161 students. Data collection methods used in this study are test methods and interview methods. The research instrument in this study was the researcher himself while the other iinstrument were the MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) questionnaire which was adopted directly from the Tim Psikologi (Babon Psikotes Paling Update) book, the value of student learning outcomes, mathematics test sheets, and interview guidelines. Intuitive thinking process in solving mathematical problems from the research subject was revealed through observation and interviews based on the task sheet of intuitive thinking ability in solving math problems where the task sheets of students’ intuitive thinking ability in completing math problems and interview guidelines were validated by validator. The data were analyzed based on indicators to solve mathematical problems according to the Polya which included (1) understanding the problem (2) planning the completoin of the problem (3) implementing the problem solving plan (4) reviewing the correctness of the problem that had been made and the intuitive thinking indicator observed  according to Westcott namely (1) catalic inference (2) power of synthesis (3) cammon sense. The results showed that (1) the intuitive thinking characters used by STJ in solving SPLTV questions included: cammon sense, globality, intrinsic certainty and perseverance. (2) the intuitive thinking characters used by SSJ in solving SPLTV problems include: cammon sence, globality.  Keywords:  Intuitive Thinking Ability, Judging Learning Style, Math Problem, Material Three-Variable Linear Equation System.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang dibelajarkan melalui model pembelajaran IMPROVE lebih baik dari pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dengan model pembelajaran langsung pada kelas VIII SMPN 30 Muaro Jambi tahun ajaran 2017/2018 yang berjumlah 69 siswa. Sedangkan sampelnya adalah kelas VIIA dan VIIB. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes tertulis pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel. Hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai rata-rata kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis kelas eksperimen adalah 79,19 dengan simpangan baku 9,83 dan nilai rata-rata kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis kelas kontrol 61,52 dengan simpangan baku 11,9, serta hasil dari uji hipotesis diperoleh thitung 1,80 dan ttabel 1,68 pada taraf nyata 0,05. Dari hasil perhitungan tersebut terlihat bahwa thitung lebih besar dari ttabel dengan demikian H1 diterima, artinya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa melalui model pembelajaran IMPROVE lebih tinggi daripada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis melalui  model pembelajaran langsung.  Kata kunci: Pemahaman Konsep Matematis, Model Pembelajaran IMPROVE, Model Pembelajaran Langsung

Abstract

The need to apply science and technology is becoming an increasingly important need. For educators, the need for mastery of technology is something that must be mastered to support the learning process. The aim of this program is to equip elementary school teachers with mastery of using the Internet to facilitate the search for English learning resources and to introduce and deepen their knowledge of English learning aid sites to improve teacher performance. There are five stages in implementing a community service program to find English learning resources in Internet Usage Seminars: Introduction Stage, Social and Audience Stage, Development Stage, Internet usage training and final assessment stage. The conference lasted for two days. The first day of activity is in the form of material procurement. The second day focused on Internet usage practices. The results of measuring the satisfaction of the training participants showed that almost all participants were satisfied with the training they attended. Meanwhile, the results of the effectiveness measurement show that the training is effective and has an impact on the participants.
