Abstract

This research identifies literary work in the form of short story. The aim of this research is to describe connotative meaning of metaphor figurative language on Kumpulan Cerpen Senyum Karyamin Karya Ahmad Tohari. This research is qualitative descriptive with structural approach. The data of this research is sentences which contains metaphor figurative language on Kumpulan Cerpen Senyum Karyamin Karya Ahmad Tohari. The source of the data is Kumpulan Cerpen Senyum Karyamin by Ahmad Tohari. Based on the result of the analysis, it can be concluded that there are 43 expressions which is found on 13 titles of Kumpulan Cerpen Senyum Karyamin Karya Ahmad Tohari. Those expressions have connotative meaning such as “burung nakal” which means “burung yang menganggu”, word “bisu” which means “tidak dapat berkata apa-apa”, “semangatnya rontok” which means “tidak bersemangat”. Based on those 13 titles analysis, it can be concluded that Senyum Karyamin is a short story which dominantly uses connotative metaphor of figurative language which implies someone’s life with hard-work while Orang-orang Sebrang Kali implies that a human is like a chicken with its worse habit, and does not really use connotative metaphor of figurative language.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the radical feniminism in the main character in the novel Perempuan Di Titik Nol by Nawal El-Saadawi which refers to three aspects, they are: (1) violence against woman, (2) woman’s exploitation, and (3) role of woman. This research is descriptive qualitative. The data is taken from the characters’ utterances and from the story which represents radical feminism aspects. The data are analyzed by using structural approach. Based on the result, it is found that radical feminism in the main character in the novel Perempuan Di Titik Nol karya Nawal el-Saadawi refers to these three aspects, they are: (1) 15 utterances refer to violence against woman, (2) 8 utterances refer to woman exploitation (3) 9 utterances refer to the role of woman, which is supported by the dialog or utterances in the novel.Key Words: radical feminism, character, novel Perempuan di Titik Nol

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze literary work in a form of film. This research is also aimed at describing the aspects of social interaction in the film G 30 S/PKI by Arifin C Noer. This research is descriptive qualitative which is described with utterances that are identifiel with social value aspect whether from narration of the paragraph or dialog which reveal the social aspect with social approach. The data in this research is film G 30 S/PKI by Arifin C Noer. From the research, it can be concluded that there are 40 utterances in the film G 30 S/PKI Karya Arifin C Noer. It is hoped that the social aspects in the film G 30 S/PKI by Arifin can be used as a guidance in our daily life. Key Word : interaction, social, film

Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the character of Kai Amak in the novel Galuh Hati by Randu Alamsyah. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The primary data is in the form of sentences and expressions which represents id, ego, and super ego occured in the novel Galuh Hati by Randu Alamsyah. In collecting the data, the documentation technique is used. Based on the result of the analysis, it is found that there are 45 expressions which represents id, ego, and super ego. There is 16 expressions of id aspect which can be found in his lust towards eat and drink, sex, ignoring the pain or uncomfortable feeling. There is 20 expressions of ego aspect which can be seen from his logic, problem-solving, and decision-making. Moreover, there is 9 expressions of super ego aspect which can be seen from his feeling of shame, guilty, and regret. So, it can be concluded that the character of Kai Amak has the id, ego, and super ego personality.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe figurative language of comparison in the collection of poetry Biarkan Jariku Kini yang Mengungkapkannya by Kawe ‘Arkaan which consist of three aspects, they are: proverbs, personification, and depersonification. This research uses descriptive method with content analysis. The primary data of the research is the words which contain figurative language of comparison in the collection of the poetry Biarkan Jariku Kini yang Mengungkapkannya by  Kawe ‘Arkaan. Meanwhile the technique of collecting data is library study. Based on the result of the analysis, it can be found that there is figurative language in the collection of poetry Biarkan Jariku Kini yang Mengungkapkannya by Kawe ‘Arkaan. It has three aspects, they are provebs, personification, and depersonification. The result of the analysis shows: (1) 18 expressions of proverbs, (2) 51 expressions of personification, (3) no depersonification. The dominant of figurative language occured is personification.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the emotion of Lail character in the novel Hujan by Tere Liye which consists of 7 aspects, they are; the concept of guilt, the concept of hidden guilt, punishing self, feeling of ashamed, sadness, hate, and love. This research is qualitative descripptive by using structural approach. The data of this research is verbal data in the forms of sentences from the whole story or dialog paragraphs which have emotional values on the Lain character in the novel Hujan by Tere Liye.  Based on the analysis of the data, it can be found that there are 52 expressions occured from the Lail character. There is 5 expressions which represents the concept of guilt,  there is 5 expressions which represents the concept of hidden guilt, 4 expressions which represents punishing self, 9 expressions which represents feeling of ashamed, 12 expressions which represents sadness, 11 expressions which represents hate, and 6 expressions which represents love. So, it can be concluded that those 7 aspects occured in the character of Lail in the novel Hujan by Tere Liye.
