Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of prefix in Bugis Bone language at Bugis Bone Desa Simbur Naik Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Timur which refers to six types of a prefix, namely prefix ka-, pa-, ma-, ta-, na-, and si-. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. The data in the study is taken from the form of a sentence containing the use of a prefix. The data source is a sentence in Bugis Bone language obtained from the informant. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire. Data is conducted by using Fahmi's theory (2011) related to the use of prefixes. Based on the data analysis, the study results found six types of the prefix used in Bugis Bone language. The six types of the prefix are prefix ka- which can be used in sentences that mean like or often do, prefix pa- used in sentences that function to form nouns or actors, prefix ma- used in sentences that convey as verbs or do something, prefix ta- used in sentences such as word of invitation to the second party, prefix na- serves as subject to practice or action, and the prefix si- serves as a number one. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the prefix used in the most common sentences is the use of the prefix ma- which is meaningful or serves as a verb or doing work. Keywords: prefix use, Bugis Bone, Desa Simbur Naik

Abstract

This research aims to describe the types of coordinative conjunctions and subordinate conjunctions in the online magazine Jendela Pendidikan dan kebudayaan 45th July 2020. The method used in this research is the qualitative descriptive method. This research's data is in the form of sentence excerpts containing coordinative conjunctions and subordinate conjunctions in an online magazine. The data source is a document from the 45th edition, July 2020 issue of Jendela Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan magazine. The data collection techniques used is documentation. Data analysis was conducted by using Chaer theory (2015) related to coordinative conjunctions and subordinate conjunctions. The results show nine types of coordinative conjunctions including (summation, selection, opposition, correction, affirmation, restriction, sequencing, equalization, and summing) and seven types of subordinate conjunctions (causation, requirements, objectives, highlighting, timing, engagement, and comparison). Based on the data analysis, the researcher concluded that the more dominant conjunction found was coordinative conjunction following the substance of the magazine profile that is communicative.

Abstract

This purposes of this research are (1) to identify the effect of the cooperative model STAD type on students’ writing skill of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Tanjung Jabung Timur academic year 2019/2020, and (2) to describe the steps of writing descriptive text through the cooperative model STAD type of class VII students of SMP Negeri 12 Tanjung Jabung Timur academic year 2019/2020. This research is Quasi-Experimental. The subjects of the research was the students of class VII SMP Negeri 12 Tanjung Jabung Timur in which 30 students in control class and 30 students in experimental class. The data was taken by written test techniques. The data analysis was done by calculating the total score of the control class and the experimental class of each student which was then compared with their skill categories. The indicator of success in this research is the effect of students’ ability in writing descriptive text in class VII of SMP Negeri 12 Tanjung Jabung Timur through the use of cooperative learning model STAD type. This research is said to be successful if the percentage of the students in the experimental class is 82.63 higher than the control class which falls into 70.20. The results showed: (1) the use of cooperative learning model type STAD has an effect in writing descriptive text. (2) The steps of the cooperative learning model STAD type in writing descriptive text are: 1) conveying goals and motivating students, 2) presenting information, 3) organizing students in cooperative groups, 4) guiding groups to work and study, 5) evaluating, and 6) giving awards. Thus the cooperative learning model STAD type significantly influence students’ skill in writing descriptive text.

Abstract

Directive speech in religious talks is often used. Directive speech found such as inviting, commanding, and advising. Therefore, this study aims to describe the types and meanings of directive speech in the Islam Itu Indah religious talk in the first week of August 2021 with pragmatic study. The research methods used are qualitative descriptive and data collection techniques are carried out by recording, note-taking, and transcription technique. The data in this research is in the form of speech spoken by ustaz and the host in the Islamic religious talk Islam Itu Indah. The data is in the form of speech included in the action of directive speech.  The data is analyzed by using pragmatic analysis technique. Based on the results of the analysis conducted, it can be concluded that there are two related data, namely type and meaning. The types of directive act found are requests, questions, orders, prohibitions, granting permission, and advice. The meaning of the directive action found is the meaning of ordering, commanding, pleading, advising, and recommending. The type of directive speech that is widely used in Islamic religious talk Islam Itu Indah is question and the least used is granting permission. While the meaning of the action of directive speech that is widely used in Islamic religious talk Islam Itu Indah is the meaning of begging and the least used is the meaning of ordering.

Abstract

In the Indonesian History textbook, there are direct and indirect refusal sentences. It is said directly if the sentence conveyed can be understood as a refusal, such as a word no when it is uttered, then the sentence has described the refusal; if the sentence has an ambiguous or unclear meaning, then it is said as indirect refusal. This research aims to describe the sentence of refusal by using the word no or equivalent, reasons, conditions, suggestions or choices, and comments. The research was conducted by using a qualitative descriptive method. The data was collected by using the documentation technique. This research found five forms of refusal sentences include refusal by using the word no or equivalent, refusal by using reason, refusal by using terms, refusal by using proposals or choices, refusal by using comments. Thus, it can be concluded that an invitation, offer and request are not always fulfilled so that a refusal speech occurs, a refusal can be spoken based on the form so as not to be disappointed.

Abstract

This research aims at describing language errors in writing letter numbers, mailing letter, opening paragraph, and closing paragraph of official letters of SMA Negeri 9 Jambi City year of  2019. This research is a qualitative descriptive. The technique used in collecting data are observation and documentation. The results of the analysis show that the errors in writing letter numbers are the use of colons and slashes which are preceded and followed by a space. Errors in writing mailing letter is indicated in the use of kepada which indicates language redundancy; the use of a colon (:) which should be replaced by a period (.); the use of punctuation marks (.) at the end of the mailing address; and the use of bold letters in the mailing address. Written errors in the opening paragraph of the letter are the writing of the opening greeting Dengan hormat in the beginning of the paragraph that should be included in the first sentence of the letter opening. Written errors in the closing paragraphs of letters are the incomplete closing sentences of the letter which should have been mentioned earlier, written behind the word demikianlah; and errors in the use of preposition di.
