Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan proses ritus kematian pada masyarakat etnik Muna. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif, dimana Peneliti menggambarkan secara detail proses ritus kematian pada masyarakat etnik Muna. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pengamatan, wawancara mendalam dan studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses ritus kematian pada masyarakat etnik Muna terdiri atas tujuh ritus yaitu (1) ritus kaalingkita (memandikan maya secara biasa), (2) ritus kaselino wite (penggalian tanah kuburan), (3) ritus kakadiu wadhibu (memandikan mayat secara wajib), (4) ritus kabasano haroa turuntana (pembacaan doa untuk bekal mayat), (5) ritus kakoburu (penguburan), (6) ritus kansolo-nsolo (kunjungan ke kuburan), dan (7) ritus poalo (memperingati malam-malam tertentu sesudah penguburan).

Abstract

Psychological influence is a never-ending aspect that can not be separated from language teaching and learning, and Foreign Language Teaching Anxiety is one of those psychological hindrances. This study was aimed to find out the causes of foreign language teaching anxiety (FLTA) of teachers in bilingual school, the effects, how the teachers deal with their anxieties, and school support in helping the teachers. This research employed qualitative research, and using a close-ended questionnaire, interview, and observations as sources of the data. The participants were all teachers of Lazuardi Ibnu Sina Elementary School which consists of 10 teachers (6 Homeroom Teacher and 4 Subject Teachers). The results indicated that the majority of teachers fear negative evaluations from the students and supervising teachers.  It also showed that the teachers used professional, personal, and social strategies to manage their anxieties.  As for the effects, most of the teachers think that teacher anxiety will affect their image in front of students and students will not get enough exposure to English. In light of these findings, it also showed that bilingual school should provide more English Classes and English Day for their teachers and school in order to improve their English skills and manage their teaching anxieties.

Abstract

The research was aimed to 1) examine what factors are more probable to cause anxiety as perceived by the student in SMA Negeri 1 Lawa. 2) find out the students’ strategy to cope with their anxiety in learning English. The research design was a qualitative method. The researcher used purposive sampling to determine the subjects of this study. The subjects in this study were 12 students in grade XII MIA 1 at SMA N 1 LAWA. The techniques of data collection were interview and observation. The researcher used the technique of data analysis and validity data such as data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The result showed that there were differences factors of anxiety in learning English, those were ridiculed by peers, teacher's personality, English is difficult, limited vocabulary, incomprehensible input, and excessive material. The researcher also found some students’ strategies to cope with their anxiety in Learning English, those were relaxation, positive thinking, preparation resignation, and peer- seeking. For suggestions, it is better if the teachers motivate students to make them more active, confident to practice, and share their anxiety experiences in learning EnglishKeywords:Anxiety;Students’ Anxiety;Factor of Anxiety; Strategy to Reduce Anxiety
