Abstract

The role of post-disaster needs assessment cadres (PDNA) as a driver in motivating, assisting, and providing solutions for family resilience is increasingly needed during the pandemic. The purpose of this activity is to improve the technical skills of parenting trainers as they help families utilize social media-based smart parenting programs and increase cadre awareness in designing training according to the needs of family members. The method used to achieve this goal is the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach. In the implementation stage of the service program, training activities to improve the soft skills and hard skills of cadres as parenting trainers were carried out through online and offline learning. The results of this activity revealed that the Ibu Bakoh Keluarga Kokoh training increased the motivation of PDNA administrators to contribute in solving parenting problems for members, increased the shared understanding of parenting skills, taught parents the role of social media as a psychoeducational parenting media and increased the confidence and skills of the parenting trainers.

Integrated Early Childhood Education (PAUD Terpadu) ‘Aisyiyah Nur’aini Unit Two Yogyakarta is a pilot school that implements STEAM project-based learning. However, no research has discussed the implementation. Therefore, the present study aims to know, analyze, and describe STEAM project-based learning. The research subjects, or the informants, were four classroom teachers for children aged five to six. The classes implement STEAM project-based learning. The research belongs to a case study with the data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Abstract

Early childhood literacy is a fundamental skill in developing language skills, critical thinking, communication, and understanding context. However, PISA results indicate that early childhood literacy in Indonesia remains low, while the literature synthesis on how literacy is implemented in contextual and sustainable early childhood education (PAUD) settings is very limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze research trends in the application of literacy in the PAUD environment through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) study using a modified SLR protocol. The main database used by Google Scholar involves 21 articles published between 2017 and 2025, and analyzed thematically. The findings show that implemented literacy in early childhood education of Indonesia includes reading, writing, and storytelling skills, it implies that the concept of literacy need to be expanded. Another finding is that parents play a role in building a culture of literacy. This study recommends for a broad mastery of literacy skills to create more appropriate literacy learning in Indonesian context. It also encourages teachers to develop children's literacy skill through more various attractive activities.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to develop and assess the effectiveness of literacy-based storybooks enhanced with augmented reality (AR) as an intervention for the development of executive functions in early childhood. Executive function is a cognitive ability that underlies tasks such as maintaining focus on long-term goals, delaying gratification, and exercising self-control over impulses. Methodology: The research adopts a 4D development model encompassing four main stages: Define (Definition), Design (Planning), Develop (Development), and Disseminate (Dissemination). This learning medium garnered positive responses from users, with children expressing satisfaction with the appeal of the songs and recognizing the excellence of the 3D pictures and activities in the storybook. The research also evaluates the effectiveness of AR-based encyclopedias in enhancing reading literacy comprehension through pre- and post-test designs. Results: The study revealed an increase in knowledge related to expressing songs. Additionally, there was a modest yet significant improvement in the aspect of responsibility. Children exhibited a greater interest in participating in singing activities with the teacher compared to conventional reading and writing activities.

Abstract

The implementation of e-portfolios in education has gained recognition as both an assessment and a learning tool. This descriptive qualitative study examines the challenges faced by students in creating electronic portfolios (e-portfolio) using Google Sites, consisting of speech drafts, recorded presentations, reflection notes, and peer feedback, and the strategies they employed to overcome these challenges. This study involved 22 English Education students enrolled in a public speaking course at a university in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, including eight participants who were interviewed. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The findings highlight three major challenges: technical barriers (digital skills and internet access), time management difficulties, and creativity-related issues. These findings are interpreted through the lenses of self-regulated learning theory and sociocultural theory, which explain how learners manage their own learning and benefit from peer and lecturer support. To address these challenges, students employed peer collaboration, self-directed learning strategies, and time management techniques. The study offers insights for designing e-portfolio-based speaking courses in similar EFL contexts by systematically addressing obstacles while fostering learner autonomy, creativity, and responsibility. Practically, it provides guidance for lecturers to scaffold e-portfolio tasks and integrate peer collaboration effectively. Methodologically, it demonstrates the application of thematic analysis in e-portfolio research. Theoretically, it links e-portfolio use with self-regulated learning and sociocultural theory.
