Abstract

This research aims to: (1) determine the improvement of responsible character of students before and after experiencing character education based on classical guidance service using Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) approach; (2) determine the effectiveness of character education based on classical guidance service ELT approach. This is a quantitative study using pre-experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The data collection used Responsible Character Questionnaire with reliability 0.788 in Alpha Cronbach. Subjects in this study were 30 students of class VII A batch 2014-2015 in Kanisius Junior High Schools, Yogyakarta. The results of the study show that: (1) there is an improvement in responsible character of students before and after experiencing seen from the score distribution in each category and from the average score; (2) based on the t-test, there is a significant improvement in the students' responsible character in the Sig. value of (2-tailed) (0.001)<(0.05). Therefore, the implementation of classical guidance service using ELT approach is effective in improving the students' responsible character.

Abstract

This study aims to test the quality of Film-Based Creative and Innovative Character Education Test by examining the values of validity, reliability, different power, and level of difficulty. This study focuses on the Film-Based Creative and Innovative Character Education Outcomes Test using the 40 items Rasch Model. This research is a research development. Research subjects numbered 66 students in grade VII and VII of junior high school. Data analysis techniques to see the quality of test kits developed in this study using the Rasch Model with QUEST and Ministeps programs. The results showed: (1) the validity of the whole test items fit in the range of INFIT MNSQ 0.80-1.0; (2) the reliability of the test questions is very high with a value of 0.92; (3) the level of difficulty of the midterm test items (-1 to 1) according to the Rasch Model category (-2 to +2); and (4) the power of different test questions is in the good category. The conclusion of this research is that Film-Based Creative and Innovative Character Education Test Results can be used to measure the results of creative and innovative character education in schools.

Abstract

THE LEVEL OF PARENTS SUPPORT TO LEARN CHILDREN. This study aims to describe the level of parents support to learn children. The results of this study serve as the basic design of home visit services as one way to improve the parent support system in learning children. This research is a quantitative research. The subjects of this study were students of grade VIII at SMPN 31 Purworejo which amounted to 31 students. The research data was collected using Parent/Guardian Support Questionnaire to Child Learning and Questionnaire of Child's Opinion on Support of Parent/Guardian developed by the researcher from Ariffin concept (1992) with the number of items of each instrument as much as 40. Reliability value of instrument were calculated using Cronbach Alpa formula of 0,886. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistic using mean, mean, average, and standard deviation. Descriptions go through the categorization of normal distribution by category: very high, high, medium, low, and very low. The findings of this study show that 41% of parents/guardians have support for children's learning in very high category, 45,1% of high category, and 12,9% of moderate category. Based on the opinion of the students, there are 45,1% students who believe that the carrying capacity of the parents/guardian to the learning of the child is in very high category, 45,1% of the high category, 6,4% of the medium category, and found 3,2% of the low category. These findings serve as a basis for providing trajectory to parents to improve parental support systems for child learning.

Abstract

Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) dalam bentuk Preschool, Daycare, dan Taman Kanak-Kanak (TK) berbasis masyarakat semakin banyak. Namun, kehadiran mereka tidak didukung oleh ketersediaan sumber daya manusia yang kompeten dan terampil. Oleh karena itu, univeristas-universitas perlu hadir melalui pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dan keterampilan sumber daya manusia di lembaga-lembaga tersebut seperti pelatihan peningkatan kompetensi kepengasuhan berbasis pembelajaran eksperiensial. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kepengasuhan para pengasuh dan orang tua siswa Preschool dan Daycare Pelangiku dengan pelatihan berbasis experiential learning. Tujuan khusus pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan para pengasuh dan orang tua siswa Preschool dan Daycare Pelangiku tentang (1) psikologi anak; (2) komunikasi pengasuhan dan konseling anak; dan (3) parenting. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah para pengasuh Preschool dan Daycare Pelangiku yang berjumlah 10 orang, dan orang tua siswa sejumlah 20 orang. Kegiatan dilakukan di Preschool dan Daycare Pelangiku Yogyakarta. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut metode kegiatan yang dipilih adalah pelatihan berbasis experiential learning. Ketercapaian tujuan kegiatan diukur menggunakan pre-post tes dan evaluasi. Data pre-post tes dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan peningkatan pengetahuan pengasuhan berbasis experiential learning dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan para pengasuh dan orang tua anak Praschool dan Daycare Pelangiku tentang: (1) psikologi anak; (2) komunikasi pengasuhan dan konseling untuk anak; dan (3) parenting setelah mendapatkan materi kegiatan pengabdian. Karena kegiatan pengabdian ini dipandang berhasil maka diperlukan pelatihan tingkat lanjutan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan parenting.
