Abstract

Hydroquinon is a chemical used as a skin lightener. However, its effectiveness began to be questioned after the emergence of a study showing that hydroquinone can trigger cancer. This study aims to analyze the hydroquinone content of several doctor-made creams and branded facial lightening creams circulating in Denpasar. This research is an experimental research. The sample used consisted of five samples of doctor-made creams coded D1-D5, while branded lightening creams were coded P1-P10. Based on the results of the analysis, the wavelength of 293 nm is the wavelength that provides maximum absorption with the equation y = 0.023x + 0.005 with a value of R2 = 0.996. 0.023. The results of the analysis showed that all samples of the doctor's cream contained hydroquinone with an average of 11.9322 ppm or 1.1932% and did not exceed the BPOM regulations, namely 5% for cream preparations prescribed by doctors. And all samples of branded facial lightening creams in Denpasar City contain hydroquinone with an average hydroquinone level of 3,987 ppm or 0.3987% and do not exceed the BPOM regulations, which is 2% for whitening cream preparations that are sold freely without a doctor's prescription.

Abstract

motorcycle taxi is a transportation service with communication technology in the world. The average mobility of online motorcycle taxi drivers is between 8-12 hours per day, this will certainly affect the physical condition and function of the drivers' organs, especially motorbike drivers. The purpose of this study was to determine the health status of online motorcycle taxi drivers, which was reviewed from liver function tests, namely serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT) and exposure to heavy metal lead (Pb). This study used an experimental experimental research design pretest-posttest control group design. In this study, there was an increase in the levels of SPGPT and lead (Pb) for online motorcycle taxi drivers in Denpasar City with the SGPT level for male drivers being 14.14% and for women 19.62% and lead (Pb) levels for male drivers. -Male is 2.61% and female 5.14%.

Abstract

Tests for the determination of SPF value were calculated from the seven sunblock and brandes sunscreen preparation which were analyzed using 96% etanol solvent and kloroform, ranging from 17.21-26.88. The results of the VA-14 sample calculation have the lowest SPF value (SPF = 17.21) and the ES-30 sample has the largest SPF value calculation results from the seven samples (SPF ES-30 = 26.88). The seven samples are samples that have well-known brands in Indonesia. Of the seven cosmetics samples, six samples had a% recovery in accordance with the standard between 80-120%, but one product, namely SA-35, had a recovery rate of 73.23%. Organoleptic test results showed that the overall type of cream was m / a, fragrance, color from milky white, light brown, and light green. The pH value between 6.8-7.5 according to the quality standard of sunscreen preparations in SNI 16-4399-1966, the pH value for sunscreen preparations is 4.5-8.0. Thus, the results of the seventh pH of the sample are still within good standard limits for cream preparations containing sunscreen.

Abstract

As technology develops, air quality tends to decline. One of the air pollutants that is often encountered is bacteria that infect through the air such as Staphylococcus aureus. As a basic protection tool, a cloth mask with a membrane layer can be an alternative solution. One of the materials that can be used is chitosan and lime peel pectin. Lime peel produces essential oils that are used as stimulant, aromatherapy, and antimicrobial enhancers. This study aims to determine the results of characteristic tests, content analysis through phytochemicals and Staphylococcus aureus. The research method used is descriptive exploratory and experimental. The membrane mask made from chitosan of shrimp skin and lime peel has a characteristic thickness of 00.24 mm with a density of 0.60 - 0.90 g/cm3 with a textured heterogeneous surface. Has a water vapor transmission power of 0.00088 g/day/m2. It takes 27.54 days to completely decompose. Grapefruit peel essential oil contains secondary metabolites in the form of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenolics and triterpenoids. The membrane mask had Staphylococcus aureus antibacterial activity ranging from 14.05 mm. Keywords: Lime peel (Citrus aurantiifolia), Shrimp Skin Chitosan, Membrane mask, Antibacterial.

Abstract

The corona virus outbreak first occurred at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, China. This virus then spread rapidly throughout the world, including Indonesia. So, countries in the world take steps to lock down. In Indonesia, large-scale social restrictions have been implemented in big cities with a high prevalence of the spread of the virus. Efforts to control the virus include limiting mobility, wearing masks, frequently washing hands or using hand sanitizers. Hand sanitizers are products made from ethanol which are increasingly limited and expensive during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to make bioethanol with a variation of the fermentation time made from molasses, so as to produce ethanol content above 70%. This research is an experimental research. Production of bioethanol based on molasses, aquades, NPK, urea, and yeast culture of Saccharomycess cerevisae with time variations of 4, 5, and 6 days and distilled at a temperature of 500C. Testing the ethanol content using gas chromatography mass spectrometry. The results of this study, the fourth day of fermentation produces ethanol content of 50.23±0.42% with an average volume of 490 mL; day 5 produced ethanol content of 62.92±0.38% with an average volume of 385 mL; and the 6th day yielded ethanol content of 72.11±0.46% with an average volume of 243 mL. So, the 6th day of fermentation is the best fermentation to produce bioethanol as a raw material for hand sanitizer with ethanol content above 70%.
