Abstract

This research attempts to analyze the impact of deficit fiscal policy on the private expenditure in the case of Indonesia over the post crisis 2000-09 periods. The analysis is based on the goods market equilibrium. The approach is designed to analyze whether the government expenditure crowds out the private expenditure. In order to reach the objective of the study, this researchused the Linear Expenditure System (LES) and compared to the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS). The estimation result of quarterly data shows that the government expenditure did not crowd out the private expenditure. The crowding out only occurs partially especially on the private investment. However, the government expenditure totally remains stimulating the private expenditures. This, in turn, leads to increase the gross domestic product. Those results indicate that the expansionary fiscal policy effectively affects to the economic growth especially after economic crisis in 1997. Even, the income elasticity was much greater than that in the pre-crisis periodsDOI: 10.15408/sjie.v2i2.2422

Abstract

The variance of spending is a common figure in any public sectors or even private sectors. In one hand, budget is a statement of performance estimation to be achieved in term of money. On the other hand, the budget realization is an actual achievement report. They could be different from each other because of the pragmatic changes in many factors.Consequently, the difference of those magnitutes indicates asymmetric information. This paper aims at analyzing the variance of expenditure in the case of Jakarta province over the period of 2004-07. Based on the statistical analysis, we conclude that the comparative theory did not hold. As the richest country in Indonesia, Jakarta tended to set spending budget (direct and indirect expenditures) differently across semester. When we investigate across both period and expenditure items, Jakarta did tend to set spending overestimate budget. In short, there were significant budgetary slacks. Those findings above could be associated with the classical problem in coordination of functions, programs, and activities

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Revealed Comparative Advantage analysis and the gravity model approach of Indonesian CPO exports with competitor Malaysia in the main markets of China and India. This study employs the RCA competitiveness method and determinant analysis using panel data regression. The analysis tool used is E-Views 12. This study utilizes secondary data from the two main crude palm oil-producing countries, Indonesia and Malaysia, in the largest CPO export markets of China and India. The data sources for this study include UN Comtrade, Trading Economics, Time and Date, World Development Indicators, the World Bank, previous studies, research journals, books, and other literature. The results of this study indicate that both Indonesia and Malaysia have an RCA value greater than 1. However, Indonesia is more advantageous than Malaysia. Economic distance has a positive and significant impact on the volume of CPO exports from Indonesia and Malaysia. International CPO prices have a negative and significant impact on Indonesia's CPO export volume. International CPO prices have a negative but insignificant impact on Malaysia's CPO export volume. Exchange rates have a negative and significant impact on Indonesia's and Malaysia's CPO export volumes. The real GDP of export destination countries has a positive but insignificant impact on Indonesia's and Malaysia's CPO export volumes.
