Abstract

This research were aimed at: (1) to know relationship social status of the family with interest continuing to college students of class X SMK Tamansiswa Jetis Yogyakarta in the academic years 2014/2015; (2) to know relationship the achievements of automotive basics learning with  interest continuing to college students of class x SMK Tamansiswa Jetis Yogyakarta in the academic years 2014/2015; (3) to know relationship social status of the family and the achievements of automotive basics learning with  interest continuing to college students of class x SMK Tamansiswa Jetis Yogyakarta in the academic years 2014/2015. This research was correlational research and categorized into ex post facto research. The population  research is the grade of automotif skill competencies class X SMK Tamansiswa Jetis who totalled 114 students. While sample totalled 88 student turning using the formula Isacc and Michael. Technique for taking sample used in this study was Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Techniques for collecting data in this study were questionnaire and documentation. Item validity was calculated by using product moment correlation. Item Reliability was computed by using alpha formula. Techniques for analyzing data used in this study were partial correlation and bivariate regression analyses. Before those, prerequisite analysis used in this study was to test normality, linearity, multicolinearity.Based on the data analysis, it was found that the results of this research: (1) there is a positive and significant relationship of social status of the family with interest continuing to college students; (2) there is a positive and significant relationship of achievements of automotive basics learning with  interest continuing to college students; (3) there is a positive and significant relationship of social status of the family (x1) and the achievements of automotive basics learning (x2) with  interest continuing to college students (y).

Abstract

The study aimed to describe (1) correlation between vocational learning motivation with learning achivement of automotive electrical subject; (2) correlation between parents’ attention with learning achivement of automotive electrical subject of welding subject; and (3) correlation between vocational learning motivation and parents’ attention with learning achivement of automotive electrical subject. This study was ex-post facto research. Data collecting methods were questionnaires and documentation. Data analyzing methods used descriptive analysis, first and second hypothesis testing used partial correlation and third hypothesis testing used double regression. This study shows that (1) there was a positive and significant correlation between vocational learning motivation with learning achievement with the significant score 0.022 < 0.05; (2) there was a positive and significant correlation between parents’ attention with learning achivement of automotive electrical subject  with the significant score 0.014 < 0.05; and (3) there was a positive and significant correlation between vocational learning motivation and parents’ attention with learning achivement of automotive electrical subject with the significant score 0.002 < 0.05. The score of determinant coefficient (R2) 0.237, it means that vocational learning motivation and parents’ attention gave a positive contribution 23.7% toward learning achivement of automotive electrical subject, while 76.3% was influenced by other factors that were not discussed in this study.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve the activity and the learning result of the XI grade students of Light Vehicle Engineering Program (TKR) in SMK Tamansiswa Nanggulan Kulon Progo in the Subjects of Electric Maintenance of Light Vehicle Using Animation Media. This research is a classroom action research, with research subjects, totaling 24 students. This research was conducted in three cycles, each cycle made of four phases, namely: Planning, Implementation of the action, Observations and Reflections. Data collection techniques in this study using observation sheet and test instruments. The research shows students' learning activeness of 54,75 % in the first cycle, increased in the second cycle into 72,62 % and then increased again to 86,29 % in the third cycle. The student learning outcomes reached 67,08 in the first cycle, increasing to 74,17 in the second cycle, and increased again to 83,33 in the third cycle. It can be concluded that the animation media can be used to improve the students’ learning activity and learning results in the Subjects of Electric Maintenance of Light Vehicle for the XI grade students of Light Vehicle Engineering Program (TKR) in SMK Tamansiswa Nanggulan Kulonprogo.

Abstract

The purpose of this research to imporove the activity and student learning outcomes of class XI Islam Salak Brojo Pekalongan Vocational High School by audio-visual menthod on the brake system subjects.This education is clasroom action researsh that been conducted in Islam Salak Brojo Pekalongan.Vocational High School in the academic year of 2014/2015. The subject in this research is a class XI student of Light Vehicle Engineering Islam Salak Brojo Pekalongan Vocational High School that amounted to 26 student. The data collection techniques used observation and tests are divided into pre-test and post test. The data were anilyzed using descriptive statistics.The research result showed that the application of audio-visual method on the brake system subjects can improve activity and student learning outcomes class XI Islam Salak Brojo Pekalongan Vocational High Shool. The result can be seen in the successful development of the I cycle, the average value of learning activities amounted to 53,84 increased in the II cicle to 56,34 then on the III cycle increased to 59,42. On the learning outcomes of I cycle on average reached 5,11 increased in the II cycle to 6,51 then on the III cycle increased to 18,32. Therefore can be concluded that audio-visual method can increase the activity and student learning outcomes on the  break system subjects of class XI student of Islam Salak Brojo Pekalongan Vocational High School.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to describe the effectiveness of think-talk-write teaching method toward learning achievement of mechanical machining lathe, (2) to describe the effectiveness of demonstration teaching method toward learning achievement of mechanical machining lathe, and (3) the teaching methods that are more effective between think-talk-write and demonstration among the eleventh grade students of vocational high school Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques used observation and test. Hypothesis testing used descriptive analysis and t test that was started by using normality and homogeny test. This study shows that (1) think-talk-write teaching improved learning achievement of mechanical machining lathe among the eleventh grade students of vocational high school Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta with the average score 15.29. (2) Demonstration teaching improved learning achievement of mechanical machining lathe among the eleventh grade students of vocational high school Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta with the average score 13.13. (3) Based on the result of analysis, the score of tobs = 2.152 > ttable = 2.042 with the significant score 0.035 < 0.05, the mean score of learning achievement by using  think-talk-write teaching method was 15.29, and the mean score of learning achievement by using  demonstration teaching method was 13.13. Based on those mean scores, it could be concluded that the use of think-talk-write teaching method was higher that demonstration teaching method, it means that of think-talk-write teaching method was more effective that demonstration teaching method.Â
