Abstract

Digital Natives students born into an era of instant networking. It makes everything have a connection with technologies. Digital natives having sophisticated technology knowledge and skills that can be potentially harnessed for better learning engagement inside the classroom. Seesaw is a simple way for teachers and students to record and share what's happening in the speaking classroom. Seesaw gives students a place to document their learning, be creative and learn how to use technology in language learning class. This paper will discuss the seesaw application within implementation problems and its solutions. The researcher will use a qualitative study for this research. The study's data is collected from the second semester until sixth-semester students of English Department at Tidar University. Abstract

In the modern and digital era, digital native’s learners are conceived into an era of digital networking. It keeps everything connected to technology. Digital natives with digital technical expertise and abilities which can theoretically be utilized for improved learners’ interaction in the classroom. The government has began to vigorously increase the literacy culture in schools by doing reading literacy.Teachers will be willing to provide an precedent by developing a community of literacy at school. Increased classroom reading atmosphere also improves vocabulary for learners studying English. The Seesaw Media implementation may also help learners to insert allusions to enhance scientific knowledge as a regulatory framework for learning. The aim of this research was to discern the use of Seesaw as the media of literacy to cultivate learners’ vocabulary. This research pursued to answer two research questions; (1) does Seesaw Media helps learners to improve their reading ability? And (2) what are the impacts of Seesaw Media application on the learners on developing vocabulary? The methods used by the researcher were; firstly, the researcher distributed the questionnaire with the English learner's. Secondly, the researcher assessed the feedback from the respondents. Thirdly, the researcher sought the response to the learners on the effect of reading ability by using Seesaw. This research has used descriptive qualitative to conduct the research study. This result of the research has shown the Seesaw Media helped learners to improve their reading ability.

Abstract

Language is a pivotal aspect of human being. By learning, language people can communicate with each other, get information from one to another and interact. Unfortunately, in the real condition, it is still difficult for Indonesian students to practice their English ability in daily conversation. This study deals to increase the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students' confidence in English speaking. This research used qualitative analysis by distributing questioner. This study suggest that EFL teachers should seek ways to increase students' collaboration in the classroom to help them gain confidence in speaking. The study involved the students in the fifth semester in the English Department at Tidar University. The researcher compared the gathered data with other relevant researches and theories involved in the study. Based on the research questions, the research result shows that students’ perceptions of self-confidence have a significant to decrease reticence in speaking skills. However, lecturers need to push the students in practice speaking English in front of a class, especially to improve the self-confidence when the students are communicating in English. Two research questions were formulated in this study. There are: (1) what are the factors of the EFL students’ reticence in speaking? (2) Do the students have high self-confidence in speaking skills? In conclusion, this article showed the results that EFL Learners’ self-confidence can be decreased the reticence in speaking ability or not. keywords: Self-confidence, speaking ability, EFL students, qualitative study
