Abstract

Abstract This research aimed at knowing and describing the correlation between scientific literacy and student critical thinking skill on Chemical Bond lesson. The research method was Quantitative Descriptive with Correlation Hypothesis testing. This research was administered at Vocational High School of Telkom Pekanbaru. The subjects of this research were the eleventh-grade students. The objects of this research were scientific literacy and student critical thinking skill on Chemical Bond lesson. The instruments of collecting the data were Chemical Bond questions based on scientific literacy indicators and critical thinking skill. The questions and questionnaire were stated worthy, if they passed valid aspects. The validity could be seen from validity result by using validation sheet. The technique of analyzing the data was Product Moment Correlation with SPSS 21.0 program. Based on the research findings, it was obtained that there was a significant difference between scientific literacy and student critical thinking skill on Chemical Bond lesson at Vocational High School of Telkom Pekanbaru. The Hypothesis was analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation with α that was 0.05. The correlation coefficient was 0.910 with probability that was 0.000. It meant that there was a positive correlation between scientific literacy and student critical thinking skill on Chemical Bond lesson. Abstract

ABSTRACT This result aimed at developing a learning media design in the form of Science Technology Society (STS) based Chemistry Weblog learning media in supporting student scientific literacy on Crude Oil lesson. It was Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall model that was limited to the fifth stage. The stages were collecting preliminary data, planning, developing the product, testing the product, and revising. The product of this research was validated by the experts of learning media and material, its practicality was tested Chemistry subject teachers, and student response was also tested at State Senior High School 1 Kampar. STS based Chemistry Weblog learning media in supporting student scientific literacy on Crude Oil lesson was stated proper based on the research findings. It was obtained that the assessment percentages of validation were 92.5% by the experts of material and 93.33% by the experts of media, and the assessment criteria were very valid. The assessment percentage on teacher practicality test was 93.33% with very practical assessment criterion, student response test was 80% and students supposed that the weblog was interesting. It was needed a further research to test the effectiveness of the product.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fakta bahwa kimia seringkali dianggap sebagai ilmu yang kompleks dan abstrak, sehingga dibutuhkan pembuktian dan visualisasi yang jelas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk desain video praktikum sel volta berbasis STREAM, serta untuk mengetahui tingkat validitas dan praktikalitas dari media ini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dan model Design, Development, Research (DDR). Tahapannya antara lain analisis (analysis), desain (design), pengembangan (development), dan evaluasi (evaluation). Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Al-Huda Pekanbaru. Lembar wawancara, angket uji validitas materi dan media, angket praktikalitas guru, dan angket uji respon siswa merupakan intrumen pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini. Hasilnya adalah 93,3% untuk tingkat validitas materi, 100% untuk tingkat validitas media, 93,3% untuk tingkat praktikalitas guru dengan kriteria sangat praktis, dan 97,83% untuk hasil uji respon siswa dengan kriteria sangat menarik. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa video praktikum sel volta berbasis STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) sangat layak digunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Kata kunci : DDR, Video Praktikum, STREAM, Sel Volta Abstract This research was instigated with the fact that chemistry is often considered as a complex and abstract science, so clear proof and visualization is needed. This research aimed at finding out STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) based voltaic cells practical work video design form, and finding out validity and practicality levels of this medium. It was Research and Development with Design, Development, Research (DDR) model. The steps were analysis, design, development, and evaluation. This research was conducted at Senior High School of Al-Huda Pekanbaru. Interview sheet, material and media validation test questionnaire, teacher practicality questionnaire, and student response test questionnaire were the instruments of collecting data. The results were 93.3% for material validity level, 100% for media validity level, 93.3% for teacher practicality level with very practical criteria, and 89.83% for student response test result with very interesting criteria. So, it could be concluded that STREAM based voltaic cells practical work video was very appropriate to be used in learning activities. Keywords : DDR, Practical Work Video, STREAM, Volta Cells
