Abstract

Integral can be used to determine several quantities, one of them is to determine the length of a curve in the plane. It can be applied to prove the circumference formula of a circle. This research aims to explain how to prove the circumference formula of a circle using a single integral expressed in both cartesian and polar coordinates. The method used in this research is a study of literature. The result of this research shows that proving the circumference of a circle can be done by determining the implicit derivative of the circle equation. Then, the circle equation and its implicit derivative are substituted into the integral formula for determining the length of the curve in both cartesian and polar coordinates so that the circumference formula of a circle is obtained.

Abstract

The structure of thinking is a representation of the thought process in the form of a problem-solving flow that is carried out by a person when he resolves a problem. many students make mistakes in solving problems. One way that can be done to overcome these errors is to defragment the structure of thought. This study aims to describe the students’ erroneous thinking structure in solving mathematical argument and the defragmenting efforts. The students of 10th Grade of high school in Pasuruan, East Java, Indonesia, were involved as research subjects. They were selected based on three criteria, namely low, moderate and high level of procedural error. The activity of ‘think out loud’ was used to observe the errors made by students in solving mathematical argument. The data obtained from this activity were codified and later used as a basis to perform the defragmenting process. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that procedural errors in solving mathematical argument are in the form of error in determining the value of x from an equation, modeling an argument, and proving a valid argument. Defragmenting was done using scaffolding approach to improve students' thinking structure in solving mathematical problems

Abstract

Abstract

The results of observations made by researchers on Tuesday, February 17 2015 showed that most of the students were less active. This can be seen from the results of observations on the assessment of student learning activeness prior to the research reaching 20% of the 25 students. This is what encourages researchers to conduct research in terms of increasing the activeness of student learning, especially in the two-dimensional material. This study aims to describe learning steps that can increase the learning activity of class XI students at SMK Al-Amien Wonorejo through cooperative learning using the guided discovery learning method. This research is a classroom action research which consists of two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely (1) the planning stage; (2) action stage; (3) the observation stage (observation); and (4) the reflection stage. The results of this class action research showed that the activeness of student learning in cycle 1 did not meet the criteria determined by the researcher, namely the number of students who were active was 75% of all students. The percentage of student learning activeness at the 1st meeting was 48% and 64% at the 2nd meeting. After the improvement in cycle 2, the percentage of student learning activity increased to 80% at the 1st meeting and 88% at the 2nd meeting. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the application of cooperative learning with the guided discovery learning method can increase the learning activity of class XI students at SMK Al-Amien Wonorejo. Abstract

Mathematics is a subject at school that is in-depth and very important in the world of education. However, Mathematics is often used by students as Mathematics Anxiety. This is often associated with fear and lack of confidence in Mathematics. So an alternative is needed as a solution, which can be tried using the Scaffolding Technique with a combination of Social Arithmetic material. The aim of this research is to evaluate the extent to which the application of scaffolding techniques can increase the effectiveness of overcoming students' mathematics anxiety in understanding Social Arithmetic material. This type of research is PTK with a focus on learning strategies in the classroom. Direct assessment techniques with notes using observation guides and field notes to summarize everything that happened. In an ongoing program, it is necessary to achieve 75-100% of the set goals in order to be considered successful. From the research results, it can be confirmed that there has been an increase in both the average value and percentage, indicating that the research objectives have achieved the expected level of effectiveness. This improvement is measured by looking at the results of student learning scores, where a score of ≥75 or >75 is considered an indicator of significant improvement. The use of the Scaffolding Technique in Social Arithmetic material, through the use of Games, is a prominent factor in achieving positive results. So, it can be concluded that the application of the Scaffolding Technique strategy is able to increase students' understanding of Social Arithmetic material.

Abstract

One of the primary objectives of education is to facilitate the cultivation and realization of an individual's inherent capabilities and talents. Human resource development (HR) is a key aspect of development policy within the education sector. Its primary objective is to enhance the academic capabilities and professional competence of teachers while also ensuring improved welfare provisions for educators. Teachers are required to exhibit a consistent level of professionalism in the execution of their responsibilities, including the essential skill of doing scholarly research. Empirical evidence indicates that many educators continue to require support in scientific publication production and implementation. Consequently, there is a pressing need for targeted and well-organized help to address this requirement. Hence, the primary objective of this service initiative is to offer support to aspiring teacher candidates while also fostering the motivation of teaching faculty to engage in writing and assembling scholarly publications. The employed methodologies encompass analysis, observation, mentoring, training, and assessment. The training program emphasizes developing skills in composing Classroom Action Research (PTK) reports through instructional techniques such as lectures, question-and-answer sessions, discussions, and simulations. The outcomes of this endeavour provide advantages to the individuals undergoing instruction, as it enhances their comprehension and proficiency in composing scholarly publications.
