Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan April sampai bulan Mei 2011 bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang keragaman, jenis, struktur tegakan  dan kandungan karbon pada hutan mangrove, di Resort Bedul Taman Nasional Alas Purwo, Jawa Timur. Plot dibuat di tiga tempat diulang tiga kali, ukuran sub plot 10m x 10m.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada sepanjang sembilan km riverine mangrove tercatat 13 jenis yaitu, Rhizophora apiculata Blume, Rhizophora mucronata Blume, Bruguiera gymnorhyza (L). Savigny, Bruguiera cylindrica W.et.A., Avicennia marina L., Avicennia officinalis L., Cordia bantamensis Blume, Xylocarpus molucensis L., Xylocarpus granatum Koen., Heritiera littoralis Dryand. Aiton., Sonneratia alba Griff., Sonneratia caseolaris (L) Engl., dan Luminitzera littorea Voigl. Empat jenis mendominasi tegakan yaitu: B. cylindrica, dengan kerapatan 1367 pohon/ha,R. mucronata dengan kerapatan 1.033 pohon/ha, A. officinalis, dengan kerapatan 167 pohon/ha dan X. moluccensis, kerapatannya 167 pohon/ha. Tingkat semai didominir oleh jenis R. mucronata dengan kerapatan sebesar 2.500 batang/ha, sedangkan untuk tingkat belta pada semua plot tidak dijumpai. Biomasa dan kandungan karbon di lokasi penelitian didominir oleh jenis R. mucronata sebesar 217,22 ton/ha (108,61 ton C/ha, serapan karbon dioksidanya sebesar 398,60 ton CO2/ha), dan jenis B. cylindrica sebesar 115,66ton/ha (57,83 ton C/ha setara 212,24 CO2/ha).  Jenis A. officinalis sebesar 18,99ton/ha (9,49 ton C/ha setara 34,83 CO2/ha), dan jenis  X. Moluccensissebesar 6,92ton/ha (3,46 ton C/ha setara 12,70 CO2/ha).

Abstract

One of the problems in Kubu Raya mangrove forest area is forest loss every year, this is due to conversion of mangrove forest land to settlements and illegal logging. The goal of this study is to obtain information about the role of mangrove forests and forest management policies. Plots were made at three places, each had ten sample of 10x10 m size for the inventory of trees with distance between plots of 50 m; sub plot in the plot were made, with the size  of 5x5 m for the inventory to sapling and 2x2 m  for the inventory of seedling.  The results showed that in the mangrove forests found 20 species with four dominant species Rhizophora apiculata, Bruguiera gymnorhyza, Sonneratia alba and Xylocarpus moluccensis that have great potential in mitigating global warming because mangroves are able to absorb large amount of CO,2 that is Rhizophora apiculata, Bruguiera gymnorhyza, Sonneratia alba and 2, that is Xylocarpus moluccensis. Total biomass of study sites was 438.79 tons/ha (equivalent to 219.53 tons C/ha or 805.68 tons CO/ha). Mangrove conservation needs to be done  holistically and cooperation  among the parties, including the Ministry of   2 Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries Affairs and Local Government, in order to avoid overlapping policies.
