Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keberadaan partai-partai politik umat kristiani yang berfungsi sebagai sarana komunikasi politik umat krisitiani di Indonesia. Partai politik berbasis keagamaan kristen ini muncul sejak Pemilu pertama di Indonesia pada 1955 hingga pada masa reformasi pada pemilu 2004. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menemukan peran Partai Damai Sejahtera sebagai sarana komunikasi politik umat kristiani pada masa reformasi periode 2004-2009. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan studi kepustakaan (library research). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa aspirasi yang diperjuangkan oleh Partai Damai Sejahtera pada masa reformasi tidak berbeda dengan aspirasi yang diperjuangkan oleh partai-partai politik umat kristiani pada masa Orde Lama maupun Orde Baru, yaitu: Pertama, menjaga hak-hak minoritas. Kedua, menjaga pluralisme. Ketiga, menolak ide negara Islam dan syariat Islam.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see (1) how the Golkar Party's political communication strategy is to maintain its victory in the 2024 Garut Regency DPRD legislative election (2) what obstacles the Golkar Party faces in facing the 2024 Garut Regency DPRD legislative election (3) what solutions the Golkar Party has implemented in facing obstacles in the 2024 Garut Regency legislative election. The type of research used is qualitative with observation, interview and documentation methods. The results of this study indicate that (1) the Golkar Party's political communication strategy in winning the 2024 Garut Regency legislative election is to optimize all of the political party's own communication strategies, such as strengthening and selectively selecting a communicator, creating integrated and collaborative communication messages with all teams of each candidate for the council, having various communication media such as approaching community leaders to optimizing online media, and efficiency of audiences/communicants (2) the obstacles faced by the Golkar Party in maintaining its election victory are the industrialization of the party which presents new political parties to the limited freedom of civil servants to speak (3) the solution sought by the Golkar Party in facing obstacles is to continue to strengthen the party coalition and optimize communication media as a real manifestation of adding to the party's vote bank.

Abstract

This study examines the viral video phenomenon of Kang Dedi delivering disciplinary messages to children through social media, particularly Instagram Reels, within the socio-cultural context of West Java society. The analysis employs Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis framework, focusing on the textual, discursive practice, and socio-cultural practice dimensions. Findings reveal that the video functions not only as an effective mass communication tool but also reflects shifts in authority patterns and parenting in the digital era. The massive dissemination supported by social media algorithms expands the message’s reach, influencing children’s behavior and parental approaches. Furthermore, the cultural background and natural environment of West Java strengthen the public figure’s image as a close and caring leader. This research offers valuable insights for developing educational communication strategies that integrate technology with local cultural values. Future studies are recommended to conduct cross-cultural comparisons and explore the psychological impact of social media-based and  disciplinary methods.

Abstract

The development of social media has changed the patterns of political communication, where memes have become an effective digital campaign strategy for conveying political messages in a concise, engaging, and easily shareable way. This study originates from the phenomenon of political memes used by the candidate pair Syakur Amin and Putri Karlina in the 2024 Garut Regional Election as a tool to shape their image, reach young voters, and build closeness with the public. The aim of this research is to analyze the types of political memes used by the candidates and to reveal their impact on public perception. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, which emphasizes the analysis of signs through denotative, connotative, and myth levels. Data collection techniques include observation of social media posts, interviews with relevant informants, documentation, and literature review. The research results indicate that the five memes used, including humor, populist, educational-cultural, geographical, and campaign identity memes, successfully shaped positive perceptions, increased public participation, and strengthened the emotional connection between candidates and voters. Furthermore, political memes also create a space for more relaxed yet substantial political discussions on social media. Nevertheless, the use of memes in political campaigns must consider ethical aspects to avoid misleading or undermining the quality of local democracy. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that political memes are not merely a form of visual entertainment, but also a powerful, strategic, and highly impactful communication tool in the dynamics of campaigns in the digital era.
