Abstract

This paper describes the design and means of detecting levels of carbon monoxide in healthy people, which can also provide a warning when carbon monoxide levels have exceeded normal levels. The design is carried out in several stages, including literature study, data collection, tool testing, analysis, and reporting. Carbon monoxide is a gas that cannot be felt by the human senses because it is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. The effects of carbon monoxide exposure cause poisoning and death if inhaled in certain amounts. The results of the combustion trial of each experimental substance with a maximum detection time of 10 minutes include mosquito coils with a carbon monoxide content of 31.08 Ppm, paper burning with a content of 30.46 Ppm, and cigarette smoke with the highest value of 87.63 Ppm. From the experiments conducted, it can be concluded that the design results can detect carbon monoxide levels well, this is indicated by the intensity of the levels that vary between one experimental substance and another.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the reliability of the capacitor charging factor method in the design of Solar Test Simulator for Solar Panels. The equipment used is the I-V Tracer, which functions to read the current and voltage characteristic values of the Solar Panels. The value readings on the Solar Panel are greatly influenced by the surrounding environmental conditions and aim to evaluate whether the performance of the panel is in accordance with the available datasheet. The method used to obtain maximum performance data is to perform a short circuit on the output of the solar panel. The data is recorded through a capacitor charging system, where variations in capacitor values are used to determine the optimal component size to display the characteristic curve of the Solar Panel. The final results of the study show that capacitive loads can display the shape of current and voltage curves well through capacitor charging factor monitoring. Tracing the voltage variation in the solar cell and the calculation of the charging current on the capacitor shows that the current generated is relatively small. The 3300 μF capacitor was chosen because it was able to display a curve shape that matched the simulation in the PSIM program. The use of MOSFETs results in real-time charging of capacitors with fast readings in milliseconds.

Abstract

This research aims to design and build a basic electronics trainer as a practicum teaching aid at the Electronics Engineering Laboratory, Panca Budi Development University, Medan. The problem faced in the learning process in the industrial automation course is the lack of supporting learning media, so that students have difficulty understanding the theory and its application, especially in the assembly and programming of basic electronic systems. Based on the results of observations, interviews, and questionnaire distribution, it is known that the lack of practicum teaching aids affects the effectiveness of learning. This research method includes the stages of hardware and software design, the manufacture of trainer kits, and the testing of tool functionality. The designed trainer is expected to facilitate students in understanding the basic principles of electronics through interactive and applicable practicums. The use of this trainer aims to provide convenience in understanding theory, as well as improve students' practical skills in assembling and operating basic electronic systems. The result of this study is a basic electronics trainer that can be used as an effective, efficient, and easy-to-operate learning medium. This trainer also makes a significant contribution to increasing student motivation and understanding of the material taught. With this tool, students are expected to be more involved in the learning process, both theoretically and practically, and ready to face challenges in the real industrial world.
