Abstract

Promoting gender equality has become a globally recognized and accepted reality. Gender issues have also been identified as essential for the achievement of national development goals. In fact, the achievement of gender equality is seen not only as an end in itself, but also as a catalyst and sine qua non for the achievement of sustainable development. This study tries to assess the level of achievement of gender equality and women's empowerment using three important indicators, namely: participation in education at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels, employment and political decision-making, utilizing valuable secondary data sources. This study uses a qualitative method which is analyzed with a descriptive approach. The resource person is the owner of Cirebon Home Made. At the heart of the problem of gender inequality in Indonesia is the dilemma of the Indonesian government to take a decision to reduce the problem of expanding the level of capacity needed to increase the opportunity to accommodate the different needs of the two. Para also argues that the achievement of gender equality in Indonesia, which has been limited by time, will be a mirage due to multidimensional inhibiting factors. This research rests on the actualization of gender equality and women's empowerment on the desires and necessities of a pragmatic approach.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the views of lesbian couples in interpreting the cohabitation they do and the social roles they live. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out using interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The interview technique was carried out for lesbian couples who performed cohabitation actions at a boarding house in Tasikmalaya. The observations in this study used participant observation techniques carried out for one year. The results showed that cohabitation by a lesbian couple could be seen from three things. First, cohabitation is done as a meaning based on compassion, protection, and responsibility. Second, cohabitation is performed because the boarding environment does not hinder or interfere with their existence. This condition can occur because lesbian couples conduct good social interactions with their surroundings. Third, the actions of cohabitation can cover up their sexual orientation in the name of friendship as fellow women. The social role of lesbian couples is not different from heterosexual couples; men are played by “Butchy”, while women are played by “fame”. In Tasikmalaya, the existence of lesbian couples tends to be closed. They are not free to carry out their social roles. The openness of roles is limited to the environment they live by conducting reference groups.

Abstract

As an effort to accelerate poverty alleviation, since 2007 the Government of Indonesia has implemented PKH. The Social Protection Program, which is also known internationally as Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT), has proven to be quite successful in overcoming the poverty faced in these countries, especially the problem of chronic poverty. However, as a conditional social assistance program, PKH has not made it easy for poor families, especially pregnant women and children, to take advantage of the various health service facilities and educational service facilities, available around them. The benefits of PKH have also begun to be encouraged to cover persons with disabilities and the elderly by maintaining their level of social welfare in accordance with the mandate of the constitution and the Nawacita of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. This method uses a qualitative approach using relevant informants. The results of the study showed that there were still findings of PKH maladministration by public service supervisory agencies because socialization was not optimal. Second, there is still inaccurate recipient data so there are still families who are eligible to receive PKH assistance but do not receive it. On the other hand, families who are not eligible receive assistance. Apart from the social development strategy by the individual, there are other strategies such as the social development strategy by the community. In addition, this PKH strategy focuses on community development and social development, then there is also community action, participation, and social development. Furthermore, there is a social development strategy by the government that focuses on promoting social development through integrated planning.
