Abstract

In Nigeria, Special Needs Education programme is a very special programme designed for persons with disabilities and persons with Special Needs. The Special Needs Education programme is being implemented in all the 36 states and in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The administration of the Special Needs Education programme faces many problems across the country. This article discusses the problems facing the administration of special needs education programme in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Secondary data was used to support the points raised in the article. This study sourced secondary data from print material and online publication by recognized institutions and individual author. Special needs programme in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) faced with the problems of; inadequate funding, inadequate infrastructural facilities, inadequate professional teachers, poor supervision, inadequate instructional materials, poor planning, institutional corruption, lack of data to plan and poor implementation of Special needs education policies. To solve these challenges, this article recommends: that the government should increase the funding of Special need education, provide adequate infrastructural facilities, employment of more professional teachers, provision of adequate instructional materials, ensure effective supervision and planning of the special need programme.

Abstract

This paper discussed the challenges preventing the implementation of University education policies in Nigeria. Secondary data were used in the papers. The secondary data were sourced from print materials and online journal and articles. The paper identified inadequate funding, inadequate infrastructural facilities, inadequate professional lectures, institutional corruption, lack of political will, insecurity challenge, political instability, poor policy formulation, strike actions, weak regulatory agencies and political influence as the challenges preventing effective implementation of Universities education policies in Nigeria. To address these challenges, the paper recommends the following; adequate funding of education, provision of adequate infrastructural facilities, fight institutional corruption, ensure adequate security in educational institutions, political officeholders should have positive political will towards implementation of higher education policies, employment of more professional teachers, implement agreed with different union groups, and political officeholders and school administrators should have political will to continue with educational policies on groups.

Abstract

University education in Nigeria is the education that prepares the youths for future. University education is the key to the realization of the social, economic and technological advancement of a country. The Nigerian university education faces many problems. The researchers employed the used of secondary data to discuss the points raised in the article. This article identified poor planning, weak administration, inadequate funding, inadequate academic staff, inadequate infrastructural facilities, poor supervision, brain-drain, strike actions, corruption and poor research programme as the problems facing the university education in Nigeria. To address these challenges, the article recommendations include government should effective planning of universities education, appoint capable administrators, increase the funding of university education, provision of adequate infrastructural facilities, motivate the academic staff, implement agreement, fight the corruption in the university system and increase the funding of research programme.

Abstract

Research programme is one of the major programme of the universities. It is a key to the university’s development. Research programme of the universities is one of the key indicators used to measure the performance of the universities. The administration of research programme in Nigerian public universities faces many problems. Therefore, this article discusses the problems facing the administration of research programme in public universities in Nigeria. The article identified; inadequate research funding, unstable academic calendar/strike Actions, inadequate infrastructural facilities, brain-drain, insecurity, corruption, poor technological advancement/poor ICT literacy. Others are poor participation of private sector in research development and lack of conducive working (research) environment as problems facing the administration of research programme. To address these problems, this article recommends adequate funding of research, provision of adequate infrastructural facilities, ensure stable academic staff, fight all institutions in the universities, ensure adequate security in the universities, encourage private participation in the development of research, provision of conducive research environment and Soften of the conditions attached to research Grants.ethod.
