Abstract

Ferdinand De Saussure explains the meaning is concept that has or is present in a linguistic sign. Songs are a medium for expressing someone's feelings that are written in writing and have aesthetic values in these expressions. This study examines the meaning of a song, namely the Himalayan song sung by Maliq D'Essentials. The verse not only conveys the message openly, but there is a figurative meaning there. This research was conducted based on the author's observation of a song lyrics in the form of expressions of meaning, both denotative and connotative meanings. This research approach uses a semantic approach because semantics is a branch of science that studies the meaning of an expression. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique used was the observation result technique, namely observing the Himalayan Maliq D'Essentials song as a research subject to study the meaning expression in each verse of the song with the depiction of the meaning of "Himalaya" as a figurative meaning expressed in denotation.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur cerita dan nilai pendidikan karakter dalam buku dongeng. Penelitian ini dibuat karena ingin menyampaikan, bagaimana buku dongeng sesungguhnya memiliki nilai Karakter yang dapat diambil dari cerita dongeng dan menganalisis struktur cerita yang terkandung dalam dongeng. Penelitian ini menggunakan Metode Pendekatan Kualitatif dan Metode Deskriptif Analisis. Subjek dalam penelitian ini ialah Buku Kumpulan Dongeng “Terjebak di Negeri Jajan” karya Suyitman. Dari buku dongeng ini ditemukan bagaimana struktur cerita dongeng dan banyak ditemukan pula nilai Karakter yang sangat penting ditanamkan kepada anak-anak, agar ketika usia mereka bertumbuh dan berkembang memiliki karakter yang baik dan menjadi teladan di masyarakat. Dari hasil yang telah diperoleh dari penelitian ini, maka tim peneliti memberikan saran agar pembaca, pendidik maupun orang tua dapat menjadikan buku dongeng “Terjebak Di Negeri Jajan” karya Suyitman sebagai bacaan pada anak-anak dikarenakan struktur cerita dongeng dan nilai karakter dalam buku ini sudah sangat baik dan layak untuk dibaca oleh anak-anak.

Abstract

This study was made to determine for sure whether the 3M technique (observing, imitating and adding) is the right technique to be used in improving the ability to write drama texts in grade VIII students of UPT SMP Negeri 37 Medan. The type of data used in this study is quantitative primary data, namely data obtained from the field where the research was conducted. The data used in this study was obtained based on the results of post-test tests on both samples, namely the control class and the experimental class, where the experimental class was given learning to write drama texts with 3M techniques, while the control class was given conventional learning techniques. After testing and data analysis, conclusions can be drawn. First, the average score in the experimental class was 76.05 which was included in the good category. Secondly, the average score in the control class was 47.09 which falls into the category of very less. Third, the results of the hypothesis test, it turned out that the t_0 obtained was greater than t_tabel namely, 14.55 > 1.69, so that H_0 was rejected, and the hypothesis  accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the 3M technique is indeed effective in improving students' ability to write drama texts.
