Abstract

This study aimedseedling derived from stem cutting to determine the effect of various media on the growth of drum stick (Moringa oleifera Lam.). Experiment was conducted from March to May 2017 in the nursery located in Dasan Agung, Mataram, with altitude of 16 meters above sea level. The method was experimental method with 6 media treatments: soil, soil+sawdust, soil+cocopeat, soil+corncob, soil+bamboo leaf, and soil+charcoal rice husk. The experimental design was Completely Randomized Design with 5 replications and 5 unit series. The result shows that the media significantly effect on the growth ofsedling stem cutting. The best media forseedling derived from stem cutting were mixture media of soil+ricecharcoal andsoil+cocopeat

Abstract

ABSTRAK Semanggi putih merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman legum yang umumnya digunakan sebagai tanaman penutup tanah, pupuk hijau dan makanan ternak di daerah lahan kering. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan biosintesis etilen dan akumulasi prolin pada semanggi putih cv. Kopu. Percobaan dilakukan di laboratrium dengan lingkungan terkendali (climate-controlled Laboratory). Parameter yang diamati meliputi pertumbuhan, akumulasi prolin, ekspresi gen dan akumulasi protein TR-ACO. Hasil penlitian menunjukkan laju pertambahan petiol pada daun pertama Kopu menurun saat kadar air tanah turun di bawah 17%, sedangkan konsentrasi prolin meningkat drastis saat laju pertumbuhan petiol mendekati nol. Menariknya, perubahan ekspresi gen dan akumulasi protein TR-ACO juga terjadi pada saat pertumbuhan petiol terhenti. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan kepekaan tanaman semanggi putih cv. Kopu terhadap cekaman air. ABSTRACT White clover is a legume crop commonly used as a cover crop, green manure and pasture crop on dry lands. Research aimed to investigate changes in ethylene biosynthesis and proline accumulation was conducted in a Climate-controlled Laboratory. The research analised growth responses, proline accumulation, TR-ACO gene expression and protein accumulation. Petiole elongation rate in the first-fully expanded leaves of Kopu declined when SWC decreased to below 17% while proline concentration increased suddently when petiole elongation rate ceased. Intersetingly, changes in TR-ACO gene expression and protein accumulation also occurred when petiole elongation rate ceased. These results further indicated sensitivity of white clover cv. Kopu to a water deficit.

Abstract

The increasing demand for a good quality of carrot tubers has yet been achieved, partly due to limitation in cultivation area. Extension of cultivation to low land has been attempted and suitable cultivation technology with yields 17.5 – 25 ton/ha has been developed. However, cultivation of carrot in lowlands is very limited as farmers assume that carrots cannot be cultivated in the lowlands. To promote this, a community service (PKM) aimed to disseminate environmentally-friendly carrot cultivation technology in the lowlands has been undertaken in Bagik Polak Village, Labuapi District, West Lombok Regency from June to October 2020. The PKM was carried out in collaboration with the Gapoktan Bersatu and UPTD Agriculture of Labuapi District, through demonstration plots and extension. The activity began with socialization by discussion with the officials of Labuapi UPTD Agriculture and management of the Bersatu Gapoktan, followed by demplot for carrot cultivation at an altitude of ± 41 m above sea level. At harvest time, the demplot results were exposed to the community via extension at the house of the Gapoktan leader. By directly observing the demplot results, participants were motivated to cultivate environmentally-friendly carrots, and stated that they will undertake trials in theirs fields. The Labuapi UPTD will set a demplot in the UPTD yard and promote carrot plants in the program for yard optimality. In addition, the farmers agreed that this activity has bring a new inspiration to diversify vegetable crops with a higher economic crops

Abstract

ABSTRACT Concern on the impact of excessive and unwise usage of synthetic fertilizers and growth hormones to environment, food safety and food quality leads to an increase utilization of organic fertilizer and/or natural bioactive stimulants. One potential source for natural fertilizer and bioactive growth stimulant is macro algae. Out of 88 species of macro-algae obtained in Nusa Tenggara Barat Province, five of them namely Turbinaria murayana, Sargassum cristaefolium, S. crassifolium, S. aquifolium, and Hydrochlarus sp are potential to be developed as organic fertilizer and growth promoting substances. This paper examines the property of aquadest-extract of T. murayana, S. cristaefolium, S. crassifolium, S. aquifolium, and Hydrochlarus sp and their effect on growth and production of rice-paddy. Application of combined-extracts of T. murayana, S. cristaefolium, S. crassifolium, S. aquifolium, and Hydrochlarus sp can promotes growth and development of rice-paddy. This capability is partly due to the presence of Zeatin-like substance in the extracts as examined by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). ABSTRAK Meningkatnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap dampak penggunaan pupuk dan hormon pertumbuhan sintetis yang berlebihan terhadap kualitas dan keamanan pangan serta lingkungan mendorong meningkatnya penggunaan pupuk organik dan perangsang pertumbuhan yang berasal dari bahan alam. Makro alga (rumput laut) adalah satu sumber pupuk dan perangsangan pertumbuhan tanaman yang alami. Dari 88 spesies jenis rumput laut yang ditemukan di perairan laut Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat, lima spesies diantaranya memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi pupuk dan perangsang pertumbuhan alami, jenis-jenis tersebut adalah Turbinaria murayana, Sargassum cristaefolium, S. crassifolium, S. aquifolium dan Hydrochlarus sp. Makalah ini membahas analisa kandungan hormon perangsang pertumbuhan tanaman pada ektrak aquadest rumput laut T. murayana, S. cristaefolium, S. crassifolium, S. aquifolium, dan Hydrochlarus sp, serta pengaruh ekstrak tersebut terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi padi. Aplikasi ekstrak kombinasi T. murayana, S. cristaefolium, S. crassifolium, S. aquifolium, dan Hydrochlarus sp merangsang pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman padi. Kemampuan ini diduga disebabkan karena ekstrak-ekstrak tersebut mengandung sitokinin dengan berat molekul yang sama dengan Zeatin, seperti ditunjukkan oleh hasil analisakromatografi cair menggunakan High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
