Abstract

The aims of the research are to improve students’ motivation and students’ vocabulary mastery in English at Elementary School, especially in the remote area. The researcher used quantitative approach by using quasi experimental design. Kinds of  quasi experimental design chosed is  nonequivalent control group design used  pretest and posttest in the control and experimental group in determining the skill level score before and after treatment. The researcher taking samples from each   school, SDN Buaran Bambu 1 Kab. Tangerang as the experimental class, 15 students of 5 grade as a sample and SDN Periuk 4 Kota Tangerang as the control class, 15 students of 5 grade as a sample. The findings of this research are generally the level of students' learning motivation SDN Buaran Bambu 1 has increased, it is seen from the lowest score on pre-test 15 and post-test increased to 35. However, the treatment of 6 meetings is not enough to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at  SDN Buaran Bambu 1, when compared with SDN Periuk 4 Kota Tangerang which the lowest pre-test value reached 35 and post test 50. So the hypothesis could be concluded that, H0 accepted and Ha rejected which means there is no difference significant in improving English vocabulary mastery by using TPR method on elementary school students residing in the village. Keywords: Total Physical Response (TPR), Vocabulary, Elementary School Students

Abstract

This research is expected to know whether there is significant different score of vocabulary test before and after treatment has been given. This research is a quasi-experimental design where the population is Tenth Grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Cipondoh Tangerang. The researcher took sample from X.4 class as control class and X.5 class as experiment class. The sample is 40 students for each class. In collecting the data, the researcher used interview, pretest and posttest of vocabulary and applied peer drilling as a technique in teaching learning process. Furthermore the researcher calculated the data by using t test. In addition the hypothesis test result at the degree of significance 0.05 indicates that in control group H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted because t count > t table (4.70 > 1.684) where there is a little significant difference of student’s vocabulary test whereas in experiment class, H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted with t count > t table (18.08 > 1.684). It means that there is more significant difference of student’s vocabulary test. In other words, Peer Drilling can improve student’s vocabulary mastery in the classroom.

Abstract

The research was conducted to observe the effect of the SQ3R on the tenth-grade student’s reading comprehension at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Tangerang. The research used a quantitative approach and the design of this research was quasi-experiment research by using a non-equivalent control group design by using Random Sampling, consisting of X IPS 1 as an experiment class and X IPS 2 as a control class. The posttest results were obtained data that tcount = 1.29 and ttable = 1.9965 with significant level  = 5% or 0.05. This means that H0 = was rejected and H1 was accepted. It is reasonable to suppose that there is a substantial difference in students' reading comprehension between the experiment class taught using the SQ3R technique and the control class not taught using the SQ3R method. Therefore, the SQ3R method can be an alternate approach to improving students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze students' perspectives by using the Google Classroom application in learning English during the pandemic. The subjects of this study were students from class XII IPS 3 at SMA Yuppentek 1 Kota Tangerang in the academic year 2021/2022. The research used a descriptive qualitative method. In collecting data, the author used 2 techniques, namely; interviews and questionnaires. The results of this study are based on their perspective, it can be concluded that online learning is fun. Learning online is more relaxed because it can be done anywhere. Online learning makes saving time and money. Students also study online due to pandemic conditions that require them to study online. However, the negative side of online learning is unstable network conditions, sometimes constrained by the internet quota being exhausted, unfocused, and less effective in delivering subject matter which ultimately makes it difficult for students to understand the subject matter and using Google Classroom facilitated the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic, but there is no denying that they also consider face-to-face learning to be more effective than online learning.
