Abstract

The Use of Media for Literature Learning for Indonesian Language Teachers. This study aims to describe the use of literary learning media for Indonesian language teachers in Tarakan Junior High School. This research uses qualitative approach. Data obtained through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. Data analysis is done through data reduction, presentation, and inference (conclusions). From the results of research it is found that most of the Indonesian language teachers who teach literature in Junior High School using media audio, visual and audiovisual are limited.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini betujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan media e-learning pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi mahasiswa FKIP Universitas Borneo Tarakan (UBT). Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitataif. Lokasi penelitian ini Universitas Borneo Tarakanpada semester genap 2019/2020. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data ialah angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Peneltiaian ini terdiri dari beberapa tahapan yakni studi literatur, pengumpulan data, dan analisis data. Masa pandemi covid-19 berdampak perubahan budaya belajar dalam konteks pembelajarannya. Berbagai media e-learning yang diimplementasikan untuk kegiatan proses pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia yakni BeL (Borneo e-Learning) UBT, Google Classroom, Zoom, WhatsApp dan Email sangat fleksibel yang disesuaikan dengan tujuan pembelajaran, materi ajar, situasi, dan kondisi yang ada. E-learning mengharuskan mahasiswa belajar mandiri dan secara aktif dalam menerima, mencari, dan memproses pengetahuan secara jarak jauh. Ada beberapa kendala yang dihadapi dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan e-learning bagi dosen dan mahasiswa FKIP UBT pada mata kuliah wajib umum ahasa Indonesia yakni jaringan internet yang tidak stabil, kurang tersedianya secara optimal referensi dalam bentuk cetak, dan minimnya kuota data internet bagi mahasiswa. E-Learning perlu digunakan dengan baik dalam pembelajaran karena sebagai inovasi dalam perkuliahan sehingga pembelajaran dapat berjalan efektif dan efisisen.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daan mendeskripsikan mengenai kondisi objektif motivasi yang dialami siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia secara daring pada masa pandemi covid-19. Penelitian dilakukan di SMP Tarakan Kalimantan Utara Tahun Pelajaran 2020/2021. Pengambilan sampel dengan teknik purposive sampling dan didapatkan empat SMP masing-masing 30 siswa dengan jumlah total keseluruahan sampel adalah 120 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Angket dibuat dengan google form. Tenik analisis data yaitu menghitung persentasedari setiap indikator kategori dan aspek motivasi belajar.Langkah selanjutnya skor persentase data diinterpretasi. Setiap indikatornya dianalisis secara mendalam. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar siswa SMP kelas VIIIdi Tarakan Kalimantan Utara kategori sedang. Hal ini dapat diketahui dari kategori sedang sebanyak 74 siswa dari 120 siswa, sementara dari skor persentase motivasi dengan aspek ARCS paling tinggi adalah aspek satisfactionsebanyak 28%. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi evaluasi berbagai pihak yang terkait dalam menyelenggarakan pembelajaran daring di SMP agar pelaksanaannya lebih optimal.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is the ability to read a text, process it, and understand its meaning. It is essential to comprehend a text because if someone is unable to understand it well, this can hinder their achievement of success in education. In schools, students’ reading ability, especially reading comprehension, can be improved through various reading learning methods. This study aims to enhance students’ reading comprehension in SMP 9 Tarakan by utilizing the SQ3R strategy. This study employed a Class Action Research (CAR) approach to address the problems in the study, aiming to improve students’ reading comprehension skills by implementing the Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review (SQ3R) learning strategy. There has been an increase in reading comprehension skills among grade VII students at SMP 9 Tarakan following the implementation of the SQ3R strategy, which involves surveying, questioning, reading, reciting, and reviewing (SQ3R) in the lesson. This can be seen from the final scores of the evaluation test results carried out by students in Cycle I and Cycle II, which increased from 79.09 to 85.04. The indicators of reading comprehension in this study include identifying the main idea, answering questions, drawing conclusions from the text, and retelling the information in their own words. Additionally, there is reportedly an increase in the achievement of indicators from cycle I to cycle II for each indicator. All assessed indicators identifying main ideas, answering questions, drawing conclusions, and retelling content demonstrated notable increases from Cycle I to Cycle II. These gains were supported by improvements in each SQ3R stage, especially after reflecting on and refining the teaching process. This indicates that the SQ3R strategy effectively enhanced students’ ability to understand and process reading materials.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of the outdoor learning method in teaching descriptive text writing to the female students of Class VII-C at Junior High School Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan. The background of this research is based on the role of outdoor learning in providing solutions for both educators and students in the teaching and learning process, particularly in learning to write descriptive texts.This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, using observation as the primary data collection technique, supported by questionnaires, interviews, and documentation as evidence.The findings indicate that learning through the outdoor learning method successfully increased students' learning interest and comprehension of descriptive texts. By directly observing objects outside the classroom, students were able to write descriptions more quickly due to the real-life experiences they gained. Furthermore, conducting lessons outside the classroom created a more enjoyable learning atmosphere and encouraged students to be more active in participating in learning activities.Based on the questionnaire results, all students stated that the use of this method was helpful. Therefore, the outdoor learning method can be considered an effective alternative to improve students’ writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to observe the understanding of IX grade female students regarding explanatory texts and identify students' learning style preferences that can support their understanding. The method used in this study is qualitative analysis, because this study uses direct observation by filling out questionnaires and open-ended questions and answers to determine students' understanding. The subjects of the study consisted of 13 female students and one Indonesian language teacher at Junior High School Muhammadiyah 02 Tarakan City, with the main focus on five female students for questions and answers. The results of the study prove that most female students know and understand explanatory texts, although they still have difficulty in understanding the elements of cause and effect. The main cause of this difficulty in understanding is more influenced by their low interest in this type of text than by the teaching methods applied by the teacher. Female students' preferences for learning tend to lead to fun learning methods, such as creating texts together and doing small projects such as explanatory text presentations equipped with pictures or videos. Based on the results of the research, it is recommended to apply a variety of teaching methods that can accommodate various learning styles, in order to improve students' understanding of explanatory texts
