Abstract

Background: Online motorcycle taxi drivers have a high risk of neck pain due to static posture when driving for a long time. This condition is exacerbated by the lack of physical activity and stretching habits. This study aims to analyze the relationship between driving duration and exercise routine with the incidence of neck pain in online motorcycle taxi drivers in Cempaka Putih, Jakarta. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with a cross sectional design. The study sample consisted of 152 online motorcycle taxi drivers in Cempaka Putih who were selected using purposive sampling technique based on inclusion criteria. Data on respondents' characteristics, driving duration, exercise routine, and incidence of neck pain were collected through questionnaires. Neck pain level was measured using Neck Disability Index (NDI). Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between the independent variables (driving duration and exercise routine) and the dependent variable (neck pain incidence). Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents (77%) had a driving duration of more than 4 hours per day and 73% rarely exercised. Chi-Square test showed a significant association between driving duration and the incidence of neck pain (p=0.02). Drivers with a driving duration of more than 4 hours per day have a higher risk of experiencing neck pain. Although the majority of respondents (96.71%) experienced neck pain, the severity was classified as mild based on the NDI. Conclusion: Long driving duration is a risk factor for neck pain in online motorcycle taxi drivers in Cempaka Putih.
