Abstract

AbstrakTujuan penelitian yaitu untuk menganalisis kelayakan faktor pendukung dalam pembentukan lembaga penerbit (UMT Press). Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu survey dengan metode kuantitatif. Sampel pada penelitian ini diperoleh dari 26 orang dosen yang diambil dengan menggunakan pendekatan purposive sampling atau pengambilan sampel secara sengaja yang mewakili 8 program studi, mereka dianggap memiliki pengetahuan lebih tentang masalah yang ditelitiUntuk metode analisis yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis SWOT. Instrument pengumpulan data dengan angket tertutup dan terbuka. Hasil analisis SWOT diperoleh pada faktor internal meliputi aspek kekuatan dan kesempatan dalam pembentukan lembaga penerbit (UMT Press) dalam kategori kuat dan aspek kelemahan dan ancaman (faktor internal) dapat diminimalisir dengan gabungan aspek kekuatan dan kesempatan.Kata Kunci: SWOT, Faktor Internal, Faktor Eksternal, Lembaga Penerbit.AbstractThe research objective is to analyze the feasibility of supporting factors in forming a publishing agency (UMT Press). This type of research is a survey with quantitative methods. The sample in this study was obtained from 26 lecturers using a purposive sampling approach representing 8 study programs. The Data collected with a closed and open questionnaire. SWOT analysis results obtained on internal factors include aspects of strengths and opportunities in the formation of a publishing agency (UMT Press) in the sharp category. The study reveals that weaknesses and threats issues can be minimized with the combination of strengths and opportunities.Keywords: SWOT, Internal Factors, External Factors, Issuing Institutions.

Abstract

AbstrakTujuan penelitian adalah ingin menguji faktor – faktor kekuatan dan kelemahan dalam pembentukan lembaga penerbit UMSB Pres. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif yang digunakan untuk meneliti populasi dan sampel tertentu, pengumpulan data menggunakan instrument (angket). Populasi yang digunakan didalam penelitian ini yaitu dosen Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat yang berjumlah 160 dosen. Untuk penentuan jumlah sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan rumus slovin dan diperoleh 157 sampel. Hasil penelitian yaitu tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan faktor pengalaman dosen terhadap faktor kelemahan dengan nilai thitung = 1.48 ≤ ttabel = 1.64. dan 2) tidak terdapat pengaruh faktor motivasi dosen terhadap faktor kelemahan dengan thitung = 1.47 ≤ ttabel =1.64. 3) tidak terdapat pengaruh faktor dukungan lembaga terhadap faktor kelemahan dalam pembentukan lembaga penerbit (UMSB Press) Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatra Barat dengan thitung = 1.51 ≤ ttabel =1.64.Kata Kunci:  Faktor pengalaman, Faktor Motivasi, Faktor Dukungan Lembaga, Lembaga Penerbit UMSB Presss.AbstractThe purpose of this research is to examine the strengths and weaknesses factors in the formation of UMSB publishing house Pres. The method used is a quantitative method to examine populations and specific samples and data collection using instruments (questionnaire). The population used in this study were 160 lecturers from the Muhammadiyah University of West Sumatra. To determine the number of samples in this study using the Slovin formula and obtained 157 samples. The study results show that there is no significant influence of the lecturer experience factor on the weakness factor with t-count = 1.48 ≤ table = 1.64. and 2) there is no influence of lecturer motivation factors on the weakness factor with t-count = 1.47 ≤ t-table = 1.64. 3) there is no influence of institutional support factors on weaknesses in the formation of a publisher (UMSB Press), the Muhammadiyah University of West Sumatra with t-count = 1.51 ≤ table = 1.64.Keywords: Experience factors, Motivation Factors, Institutional Support Factors, UMSB Publisher Institutions Pres.

Abstract

The research Need Assessment is necessary to make the decisions that influence a learner’s progress. It should therefore be viewed as a fundamental practice that happens naturally in the teaching and learning process. This then means that learners should be assessed continuously to monitor their progress and make daily instructional decisions. The research background was done through the learning process at the State Polytechnic of Creative Media. In finding the right way of designing English material for the publishing students the researcher executed students’ need assessment through questionnaire, interview and class observation (simulation) in learning process. The research question is overcome through eight items of respondents’ understanding, namely: 1) Perception of Lecturers toward the publishing knowledge; 2) Institutional Awareness of Lecturer; 3) Students’ role in learning activities; 4) lecturers’ role in learning process;  5) Evaluation in learning process; 6) Difficulties in designing English materials; 7) Solution in problem solving; 8) Designing English material for the publishing students. The findings of this research cover three main points. First, in order to meet the publishing students’ needs, the design of English learning materials should be formulated according to the level of competencies approaches to national qualification framework of Indonesia. Second, in order to meet the Industrial needs, the design of English learning materials must be able to promote students in performing various technical skills and publishing competencies needed for industry. Third, in order to improve students’ proficiency in understanding EOP materials, the design of English learning materials can ellaborate  Kathelen Graven’s model with its modification by putting actualizing concept after conceptualizing contents.

Abstract

The research objective is to describe and interpret the extent to which the level of requirements for the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) from the National Professional Standardization Agency (BNSP) applied to the State Polytechnic of Creative Media (PoliMedia) ". The research method used is quantitative research methods with the approach used is descriptive, namely a strategy that aims to describe a phenomenon and its characteristics by collecting data in the form of numbers. The population is only 19 people, so the sample used is a total sample of 19 people, so this research is called population research. The collection technique used a closed questionnaire, in which 19 practitioners of the book publishing industry answered questions (questionnaires) with four answer choices, namely; unnecessary scores (1), need not scores (2), need scores (3) and, urgently need scores (4). Questions regarding competency units as guidelines for the preparation of SKKNI from the National Professional Standardization Agency (BNSP) must be applied to the State Polytechnic of Creative Media (PoliMedia). Analysis of the research data was descriptive analysis with the help of SPSS 22.00. The results of the research as a whole, the level of the need for the competency unit as a guide for the preparation of the National Agency for Professional Standardization (BNSP) applied to the Creative Media State Polytechnic (PoliMedia) was 86.8% of the expected 100%.

Abstract

This research is back-worded by the pragmatic experiential learning problems theresearcher faces in daily routine activities of teaching learning from first to fourthsemester (2008-2021) at PoliMedia. It has accumulated into the researcher’s pragmaticfindings that teaching English for publishing students with its basic skills (reading,writing, listening, speaking) should be in line with the needed basic competencies oflanguage assessment in the publishing needed skills (pre-writing, drafting, revising,editing, and publishing). However, in order to assure the pragmatic findings it isneeded to do the academic analysis through the following academic researchmethodology, including: setting and time, research design, population and sample,data collection instrument, and data analysis. The research uses qualitative approachthrough seeing, observing, discussing and studying some related documents takenfrom questioannaire, interview, simulation and focus group discussion amonglecturers.. The data shows various level of language acquisition (reading, writing,listening, speaking) found in prewriting, drafting, revising, editing and publishing. While there are seventeen students’ needed technical skills to be supported in learningprocess, such as: 1). team working skills; 2) oral communication skills; 3) problemsolving skills, 4) customer handling skills, 5) management skills, 6) general IT userskills, 7) technical and practical skills, 8) office administration skills, 9) writtencommunication skills, 10) literacy skills, 11) numeracy skills, 12) IT professional skills,13) foreign language skills, 14) grappling with grammar skill, 15) speed reading skills,16) note-taking skills and 17) negotiating skills.
