Abstract

Mathematics has been quite familiar in our daily life. In the field of education, Mathematics is regularly presented from the elementary up to the higher education level. Nevertheless, Math seems like a haunting danger for most children. The data from The Third International in Mathematics and Science Study shows that in 2012 the Maths intelligence of Indonesian secondary students ranked at 34 of 38 nations being surveyed. Thus, it is necessary to start introducing Math to children since their early age. However, Introducing and teaching maths for children will be obviously different with that of the adults.Keywords: learning, mathematics, early childhood, method, content.Dalam kehidupan sehari hari sebenarnya matematika sering digunakan baik itu disadari atau tidak. Di Lingkungan Pendidikan pun, Matematika adalah salah satu pelajaran yang selalu hadir disetiap jenjang pendidikan, mulai tingkat dasar bahkan di perguruan tinggi.Tetapi, bukan rahasia lagi bahwa matematika merupakan salah satu momok bagi sebagian anak. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari data Third (Trends) International in Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan matematika peserta didik SMP di Indonesia di tahun 2012 berada di urutan 34 dari 38 negara yang disurvei. Untuk itu sepertinya tidak ada salahnya untuk mengenalkan matematika kepada anak sejak usia dini. Namun perlu diperhatikan bahwa membelajarkan matematika kepada anak usia dini ini tentu berbeda dengan orang dewasa baik itu mengenai metode maupun kontennya.Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran, matematika, anak usia dini, metode, konten.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the results of students' mathematics learning by using edutainment in operating material fractions in grade VII MTsS Babussalam Kumai academic year 2016/2017. In the implementation of this edutainment methods there are several obstacles, among them students not accustomed to using edutainment methods, so that students are confused how to implement it. The results of students' mathematics learning by using edutainment in operating material fractions in grade VII MTsS Babussalam Kumai 2016/2017 school year are at very high qualification and high, ie 80% of the students have acquired in accordance with KKM value ? 70. Key Words: teaching methods, mathematics, edutainment, fractions

Abstract

Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa jurusan Pendidikan Matematika IAIN Antasari  yang mengambil matakuliah struktur aljabar pada semester genap Tahun Akademik 2013/2014. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persentase mahasiswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi, tahu konsep, dan tidak tahu konsep pada pembelajaran konsep grup; pada subkonsep apa mahasiswa mengalami miskonsepsi dan apa penyebab terjadinya miskonsepsi.Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif. Pada penelitian ini digunakan teknik  Certainty of Response Index  (CRI) untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi mahasiswa. Identifikasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes diagnostik esai berstruktur yang dilengkapi indeks keyakinan mahasiswa terhadap jawaban tes. Untuk mengetahui penyebab terjadinya miskonsepsi dilakukan wawancara.Hasil analisis data diagnostik CRI mahasiswa menunjukkan bahwa dari 34 orang mahasiswa yang menjadi objek penelitian, 48,12% mahasiswa mengalami miskonsepsi sedangkan sisanya 26,07% tahu konsep dan 25,81% tidak tahu konsep. Persentase miskonsepsi tertinggi ditemukan pada subkonsep elemen netral dari suatu himpunan terhadap operasi yang ditentukan dan diikuti dengan subkonsep operasi biner. Hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa penyebab terjadinya miskonsepsi antara lain karakter konsep grup yang bersifat abstrak.

Abstract

Kemampuan Matematika Dasar adalah kemampuan yang sangat penting dan harus dimiliki setiap mahasiswa sebagai bekal untuk menempuh perkuliahan di program studi Pendidikan Matematika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana profil kemampuan matematika dasar mahasiswa baru jurusan Pendidikan Matematika tahun akademik 2013/2014. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 133 mahasiswa, 92 berasal dari jurusan IPA dan 41 dari non-IPA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan matematika dasar mahasiswa baru berada pada kategori rendah; kemampuan matematika dasar mahasiswa baru yang berasal dari jurusan IPA berada pada kategori rendah dan kemampuan matematika dasar mahasiswa baru yang berasal dari jurusan non-IPA berada pada kategori sangat rendah.

Abstract

Abstract

Difficulties in completing school mathematics material are also experienced by prospective teacher students. Proportion is the foundational mathematical material for studying other mathematics. Commonly known proportion concepts are direct and inverse proportion. Most students still have difficulty distinguishing between direct and inverse proportion. To distinguish between two problems requires proportional reasoning. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the forms of proportional reasoning difficulties of prospective teacher students in distinguishing between direct and inverse proportion. This research was a case study which conducted at a private university in Malang City, attended by 10 third-semester students. Two subjects were selected based on mathematics tests, interviews, and student willingness. The results showed that students experienced intuitive, additive, and proportion attempt difficulties in the first problem. Meanwhile, students experienced difficulties with additive and proportion attempts difficulties in the second problem. This research can provide insight into how prospective teacher students effectively teach the concept of proportion.
