Abstract

The landscape of Bogor Botanical Garden (BBG) is influenced by different eras, particularly Dutch Colonial and post-war Indonesia. The research investigates visitors’ perceptions related to landscape of BBG based on visitors’ on-site experiences. The research involved 94 research participants, include local tourists and landscape architecture students. They were asked to take photo of landscape or elements they deemed colonial look landscape style using their own camera and send them online to researcher by social media. Each respondent were handed a GPS logger to record the capture locations of each photo. The results revealed that the most photos of colonial look landscape style were consist of buildings and hardscapes as focused objects, where Presidential Palace and Lady Raffles monument were buildings that mostly appear in photos. The photos’ captured locations were also concentrated to those buildings indicated that landscape surround those buildings had strong characteristics of colonial landscape style. The study also showed the effectiveness of inviting participants with educational background in landscape architecture than normal visitors to show perception of colonial look landscape on BBG site.

Abstract

Studies on green open space and ecological wisdom have developed over time and are linked to various subjects and impacts. However, both research subjects have developed somewhat independently despite their approaches often achieving a sustainable landscape. This paper proposed a bibliometric analysis of green open space and ecological wisdom research to identify the trends and hot topics on both aspects, then determine a potential topic for future research relating to both subject areas. We collected English research papers from the last decades from the Scopus database using appropriate keywords and analyzed the metadata using VOSviewer program. Then, the text data were extracted from the title and abstract of the document collections using VOSviewer built-in text mining function. The hot topic term was analyzed by calculating the score of the average citation based on their occurrences. Finally, potential research in green open space and ecological wisdom field was determined by overlaying the findings and catching the slice. A total of 283 document collections were analyzed and 75 most relevant terms were found. All the terms were divided into four clusters as a research field: urban green space cluster, environmental quality cluster, sustainable planning cluster, and landscape development cluster. Further, the hot topic analysis found ten keywords that had a high citation impact in document collection and mostly came from a sustainable planning cluster. After overlaying the findings, six terms emerged that have a high potential for future research because of their high citation impact for science.

Abstract

Photographs are important elements in ecotourism activities. The current research utilizes respondents' geotagged photographs to explore the potential landscape objects with its locations. The study invited 61 respondents to come to Bukit Kucing Forest and capture impressive landscape objects. The study used Getis-Org Gi* Hotspot analysis tools in ArcGIS to identify hotspots places based on the numbers of closest photos captured points to five-meters trail segments. There were 1,712 geo-tagged photographs consist of 412 self-portraits and 1,300 ordinary photographs collected from respondents. The finding shows that geotagged photographs, both self-portraits and ordinary photographs, performed hotspots places that containedimpressive landscape objects including: physical structures, wide opening area and panoramic views. Self-portraits' hotspots which were detected more spread and less number than ordinary photographs were able to perform places that werenot detected in ordinary photographs' hotspots. The current work shows that geotagged self-portraits is able to be utilized as object research in identifying hotspots of impressive landscape spaces and objects. The maps of geotagged photographs both ordinary photographs and self-portraits are able to be used as information of visitors' preferences for developing masterplan of ecotourism.
