Various methods of Qur’anic exegesis significantly influence understanding of the creation of women and their right of leadership. Failure to disclose the ideal impression of the Qur’anic verses is majorly caused by separation of its texts and contexts. A historical awareness and external reality today are two in each other's pocket variables. Another factor is hadith (riwayat) from an ahlul kitab who converted to be a Muslim and recounts that Hawa was created from Adam’s left bent rib bone. Whereas according to the Qur’an humankinds, both men and women, have originally been created from the same source in that they share equal position, and men cannot subordinate women. Nor are they competitors one another, rather they are partners with own virtues and women to serve as public leaders as long as they fulfill qualitative criteria of competences, including those of the managerial,  leadership, intellectual, personal, and also of course, with a public support.

Abstract

Corruption is a detrimental and harmful crime that is done individually or collectively. Therefore, corruption must be prevented and overcome. To prevent the corruption, firstly, the factors that lead the corruption should be eradicated; then, the prevention actions are formulated. This article aims to elaborate the guidance from the Qur’an and the local wisdom from Bugis society investigating the causes of corruption and how the Qur’an offers the prevention action of the corruption. To understand the guidance in the Qur’an and to prevent the corruption, this study was conducted through the Arabic linguistic approach. In addition, the researchers integrated the guidance in the Qur’an with the local wisdom values derived from the Bugis culture relevant to the prevention of corruption. This study shows that the Qur’an commences the prevention of corruption in two ways: the first, it is done through total structural reform; and the second, the analysis is started from the ‘inner side’ of humans based on the concept of nafsun stated in the Qur’an. Culturally, preventing the corruption should always refer to the principles of lempu’, amaccang, agettengeng, asitinajang, reso, and siri’ . Those values should be reinforced and embodied (instilled) in life. In short, the values of local wisdom are needed to be reintroduced and taught, especially to the younger generation before they become leaders in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the local wisdom values of Bugis Sipakatau, Sipakalebbi, and Sipakainge in strengthening religious moderation through Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Using a qualitative approach through the library research method, this study examines relevant literature related to the concept of religious moderation, Islamic education, and local Bugis cultural values. The results of the study show that the three main values are closely related to Islamic principles that emphasize humanity, justice, and balance in religion. Sipakatau means humanizing humans, Sipakalebbi emphasizes mutual respect, while Sipakainge contains the value of reminding each other in kindness. These three values substantively reflect the principles of religious moderation, namely fairness, tolerance, and avoiding extremism. The implementation of 3S values in PAI learning can be carried out through contextual and culture-based approaches, such as social projects, reflection on human values, and collaboration with indigenous leaders and local scholars. This study concludes that the integration  of Sipakatau, Sipakalebbi, and Sipakainge values  not only strengthens the relevance of PAI in the multicultural context of Indonesia, but also becomes a strategic foundation for building a religious character that is moderate, humanist, and rooted in the nation's culture.
