Abstract

The government's attention to vocational graduates has recently become a hot issue and various programs have been carried out by the government to improve the quality of vocational graduates, therefore they can compete. However, the BPS data in 2018 shows that the number of unemployed graduates from vocational school (SMK) is the highest, namely 11.24%, while Senior High School (SMA) is 7.95% and Junior High School (SMP) is 4.80%. Based on the problem, Study Program of Management, Faculty of Business, President University implemented a community service program that supports government policy, namely by providing Entrepreneurship Education to students of Amanah Bangsa Informatics Vocational School, Cikarang. With this entrepreneurship education, SMK graduates are expected to start a business as an alternative after graduating later. Entrepreneurship education is given in the form of seminars for Class XII students conducted by lecturers and students. In addition to providing lecture material on Entrepreneurship, students who have carried out business projects also share their experiences while opening a business, doing business until business liquidation as part of Entrepreneurship Course. The point is that students want to convey that starting a business is easy and has many challenges that are very suitable for millennials, and can apply all our abilities. The event was closed by giving a memento to the Vocational School and certificates to the participants.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between employee motivation and learning and development programs at one of Indonesia’s biggest FMCG companies, PT Danone Indonesia. Guided by McClelland’s Theory of Motivation, three independent variables were analyzed relative to learning and development: the need for achievement, the need for power, and the need for affiliation. The research used quantitative method through a survey to gather data from 105 participants working at PT Danone Indonesia who, at the time of the study, had recently joined a series of learning and development programs. Data was analyzed using multiple regressions analysis. Findings show that employees are motivated to undergo learning and development because they want to fulfill two motivational needs: the need for power, and the need for achievement, the former being the highest motivator. On the other hand, the need for affiliation was not a strong motivator to encourage them to learn and develop. Results also show that the interest for learning and development could be explained by 42% of the variables. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

Abstract

In light of rapid changes in technology known as Industry 4.0 (IN4.0), this study aims to examine how Indonesian employees perceive the HRM function is being implemented in their organizations using the Ulrich Multiple Roles of HR model, and whether they believe the HR roles are effective to address the challenges of IN4.0. Cross-industry data was collected from 160 respondents representing five priority industries: food and beverages, automotive, electronics, textiles, and chemicals. Through descriptive and factor analysis, results show that the HR function in Indonesia is still widely administrative in nature, and being an agent of change is the least performed HR role. In addition, the results indicated that the HR roles in Indonesia are changing towards a more strategic direction even though the change is slow. HR practitioners must heed the expectations of employees to ensure there are interventions that can be implemented to prepare human capital for IN4.0. This is the first type of research that examined how Indonesian employees perceive the HR roles in Indonesian industries are being performed, adding to the scant literature on HR roles in an Indonesian context, and addressing the need for relevant studies on the impact of IN4.0 and HR roles.

Abstract

Declining level of public purchasing power affects several industries during the COVID- 19 pandemic. As one of the industries affected by the COVID-19, the decrease in sales performance felt by one of the telecommunication providers in Bali, Indonesia which has incurred loss in the first quarter of 2020. As a result, the sales personnel have experienced low level of motivation. The purpose of this study was to investigate howto motivate the sales personnel to continue work performance during the COVID-19 pandemic under the expectancy theory approach that consists of expectancy, instrumentality, and valence. The theory proposed if high level of efforts will lead to the attainment of high level of performances and high level of performances will be valued with desired outcomes in the future. Convenience sampling was used in this study. 110 respondents were collected and analyzed. The result shows simultaneous influences of independent variables toward dependent variable at p< .001 as the level of significance and the values of F= 69.493. This indicates that the sales personnel  believe  if theamount of effort given will be associated with the achievement of better performance and rewards. This study highlights the presence of expectancy variable which has a positive but not significant influence on motivation. This study suggests that expectancy variable should be increased while maintaining instrumentality and valence by setting realistic and achievable targets during the COVID-19 situation, providing necessary equipment and facilities to maximize skills and resources. Keywords: Expectancy, Instrumentality, Valence, Motivation, Sales personnel, Telecommunication, Indonesia

Abstract

In facing the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesian nurses have to work under pressure and non-stop because of the imbalance of the ratio between nurses and patients. It affects their psychological health and results in a lot of nurses feeling stressed while doing their job. This study aims to find out about the effect of coping strategies – emotion-focused coping, problem-focused coping, and escape-avoidance coping - in reducing the psychological effects experienced by Indonesian nurses in handling COVID-19 cases. A total of 110 nurses who work in special referral hospitals and treating COVID-19 patients participated in this study. Using multiple regression analysis, the study found that there is reduction in COVID-19’s psychological effect when they employ coping strategies, with the highest result being problem-focused coping supported by the presence of such medical aids as PPE (personal protective equipment), and ventilators which enable them to focus on the job better and feel assured of their own safety. This study not only finds that nurses find a way to reduce their stress but also recommend that a solution for the reduction of COVID-19 effects is for government to ensure their safety by providing and distributing personal protective equipment (PPE) evenly and thoroughly to ensure safety and reduce nurses' stress. This study contributes to understanding how Indonesian medical personnel cope with the COVID-19 effects by employing coping strategies, and adds novel empirical contribution to scant research on Indonesian medical personnel and COVID-19 effects in an Indonesian context. Keywords: Coping Strategy, Stress, Nurses, Psychological Effect, Covid-19

Procedural justice is when policymakers follow the procedural rules that exist in distributing the results of its human resources programs, in this case, QWL programs.  This research used a quantitative method; data was collected using survey questionnaire. Purposive sampling was used to identify and enjoin 200 respondents to participate. The results of this study show that the QWL dimensions that are perceived dissatisfactory and needs improvement are adequate and fair compensation, growth and security and total life space. These four dimensions have significant positive effect on perceptions of procedural justice. Abstract

Business rapid development with technology advancement urges enterprises to create a sustainable competitive advantage. Being a Learning Organization (LO) becomes favorable, yet cultural backgrounds and the need to adapt with open innovation urge an adapted LO 2.0. This paper aims to study the application in Indonesia’s industrial context, the underlying factors, and obstacles in a manufacturing plant at PT MMI. The preliminary study interview involved four strategic managers, followed by an empirical study surveying the 130 employees using the adapted Learning Organization Questionnaire (LOQ). The analysis used descriptive statistics and a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Its findings suggest that PT MMI successfully enhances the practice of LO 2.0 on its contextualized adapted approach such as an innovative environment, effective information sharing, enhancing employee empowerment, supporting employees’ self-development/ mastery, and becoming a facilitative leader with a multi-stakeholder approach. Nevertheless, some factors with marginal mean scores on each dimension risk destabilizing the long-term learning practice in PT MMI, which the leaders should consider improving and strengthening.
