Abstract

This research aims to analyze how the male spouses perceive gender equality and support the work-life balance of their female working spouses during the Covid- 19 pandemic. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a data collection method is an interview. The data from this study was collected from 13 male spouse interviewees whose wives work, have at least one child, and are domicile in Jabodetabek. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that (1) Gender equality occurs in households from access, control, participation, and benefit has been realized in the interviewees’ household life. (2) Factors such as financial factors, spousal support, and work pressure affect the work-life balance of female working spouses during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of this study can be used for male spousal to improve the perception of gender equality in the household from several aspects such as access, control, participation, benefit, and supporting work-life balance of female working spouses by paying attention to several aspects such as time balance, involvement balance, and satisfaction balance to achieve a work-life balance of the female working spouses.

Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness of work-life balance (WLB) programs on employee performance at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Financial Services Authority of Indonesia (OJK). The research investigates the approach of these two Southeast Asian financial regulators towards work-life balance (WLB) rules through the use of literature review, case analysis, and comparative framework evaluation. The data is obtained primarily from publicly accessible sources including organizational websites, publications, and prior research. The research focuses on the implementation of work-life balance (WLB) programs and the difficulties in sustaining work-life balance in the financial regulatory industry. This research offers insights into work-life balance (WLB) initiatives in the area by comparing the practices of MAS and Financial Services Authority Indonesia (OJK). It takes into organizational, and regulatory issues. This study provides insights into the most effective methods for achieving work-life balance (WLB) in financial regulatory organizations. This information has the potential to influence policy decisions related to effective human resource management practices through alternative working arrangements, not just in Southeast Asia but also in other regions.

Abstract

Nowadays, the manpower contributions in the workforce not only come from male resources, female resources also actively give their contribution to the company, which in this case, in retail industry. This situation creates the opportunity in family household to have both adults have the responsibilities to work and do the household, or having a dual-career couple situation in the household. Which if not managed well, can cause work-family conflict that might affect their job performance at work. This research aims to analyze the influence of work-family conflicts and work-life balance towards employee job performance of dual-career couples in MAP Fashion. In this research, the work-family conflict is divided into three variables based on their factor namely, time-based conflict, strain-based conflict, and behavior-based conflict. This research used quantitative method which 154 employees in MAP Fashion who have working spouse or being in the dual-career couples’ situation are taken as samples. The data were collected using online questionnaires survey with Likert Scale which processed with SPSS. The result of this research shows that time-based conflict and strain-based conflict have significant negative influence towards job performance, and work-life balance have significant positive influence towards job performance of dual-career couple in MAP Fashion.
