Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to find out the influence of discovery learning model towards students’ mathematical communication skill. The population in this research were all students of grade 7th of SMPN 20 Bandarlampung in academic year of  2018/2019 that consist of 352 students and distributed into ten classes. Through cluster random sampling technique, VII B class consist of 30 students and VII D class consist of 32 students were chosen as the research sample. This research used the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The research data were obtained by the essay test of mathematical communication skill on topic of quadrilaterals and triangle. The analysis of research data used the Mann-Whitney U test. Based on the results of research and discussion, it concluded that discovery learning model was influence towards students’ mathematical communication skill.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in terms of students' understanding mathematical concepts. The population of this study was all seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Natar in the even semester of the academic year of 2018/2019 as many as 126 students that distributed into four classes. Two classes were randomly taken as samples with one class as the experimental class and one class as the control class. This study used the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The research data was obtained through a essay test of the comparison. Data analysis of this research used . The results showed the increasing of students’ understanding of mathematical concepts who took PBL was higher than increasing of students’ understanding of mathematical concepts of who took conventional learning, but the proportion of students who had a well-defined mathematical concept was not more than 60% of students who took PBL. Thus, PBL was not effective in terms of students' understanding mathematical concepts. Keywords: effectiveness, understanding mathematical concepts problem based learning

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of cooperative learning model of think pair share type in terms of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. The population of this research was all students of grade VII of SMPN 2 Palas in the even semester academic year of 2018/2019 that were distributed into 5 classes that were VIIA to VIIE class, then by using cluster random sampling technique it was chosen VIIE as an experiment class and VIID as an control class.  This research used the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The data of this research obtained through essay test of the comparison material. Based on the results of this research, students’ mathematical conceptual understanding who take of TPS learning were higher than students’ mathematical conceptual understanding of non-TPS learning. Therefore,  the implementation of TPS learning was effects in term of students’ mathematical conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to find out the effectiveness of cooperative learning TPS type in terms of students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. The population of this research was all students of grade VIII of SMPN 1 Tumijajar in the odd semester of 2018/2019 academic year that were distributed into 9 classes. The samples of this research were students of class VIII-B and VIII-C which were chosen by cluster random sampling technique. This research used the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The data of this research was quantitative data of value of students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. Instrument of this research was essay test of students’ mathematical conceptual understanding on material of line equation. The data analysis used t-test and proportion test. The data analysis results showed that TPS learning was not effective in term of students’mathematical conceptual understanding. Keywords : conceptual understanding of mathematics, TPS learning, effectiveness

Abstract

This qualitative research was aimed to describe the student's mathematical disposition on scientific approach learning. The subjects of this research were students of the VII-F class of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandarlampung in the academic year of 2018/2019. This research data was qualitative data about students' mathematical disposition obtained through observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis was done through three stages, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification. Based on the results of the research, it could be concluded that in mathematical disposition appeared in all students both high, medium, and low mathematical abilities on scientific approach learning and indicators that predominantly appear are curiosity, confidence, determination, and flexibility.

Abstract

Abstrak: Efektivitas Model Problem Based Learning Ditinjau dari Kemampuan Representasi Matematis siswa. Kata kunci: efektivitas, problem based learning, representasi matematis

Abstract

Abstract: The Effect of Problem Based Learning Models to Increase Students’ Understanding of Mathematical Concept. This quasi-experimental research aimed to find out the effect of problem based learning (PBL) model towards students’ understanding of mathematical concept. The population of this research were all students of grade 7th of SMPN 1 Terbanggi Besar in the even semester of academic year of 2018/2019 as many as 268 students that were distributed into nine classes. The sample of this research was students of class VII B consist of 29 students and VII C consist of  32 students who were selected by cluster random sampling. The design used was the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Research data were obtained through an essay test on the social arithmetic. The data analysis used the mann-withney U test and  test. The result showed that the gain of students' understanding of mathematical concept through problem based learning model was higher than the gain of students' understanding of mathematical concept through conventional learning. Thus, problem based learning model has effect towards the student’s understanding of mathematical concept. Keywords: effect, mathematical concept, problem based learning
