Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore the application of Sharia business ethics in the fuel oil industry, focusing on its principles derived from the Al-Qur'an and Hadith, which guide business conduct and decision making. Fuel oil is a critical commodity that plays a significant role in the modern economy and societal livelihoods. Research Methodology: This study uses a normative legal research approach, utilizing case studies of legal behaviors, including reviews of relevant laws and regulations in the fuel oil industry. Results: The study found that fuel oil has long been beneficial to society, with public fuel filling stations providing easy access to the community. However, price determination errors can have long-term negative consequences. Sharia business ethics in the fuel oil industry emphasize honesty, trust, tolerance, and the fulfillment of agreements, ensuring that businesses are free from practices such as fraud (ghurur), gambling (maysir), usury (riba), bribery (riswah), and haram products. Conclusions: Sharia business ethics provide a comprehensive framework for conducting business in the fuel oil sector, promoting fairness, transparency, and social responsibility. Limitations: This study is limited to normative legal research and does not explore empirical data or case studies on business performance in the fuel oil sector. Contributions: This research contributes to understanding the importance of applying Sharia principles in the fuel oil industry, offering a moral framework for ethical business practices that benefit society and the environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of ontology, epistemology, and axiology in the leadership of the Sector Police Chief (Kapolsek) regarding law enforcement practices at the Jelutung Sector Police in Jambi City. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with leadership and police personnel involved in law enforcement, observations of leadership practices and police services, and an analysis of documents related to police duties at the Jelutung Sector Police. Data analysis utilized the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, comprising data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results indicate that the ontological dimension is reflected in the Sector Police Chief's understanding of the essence of police duties: acting as protectors, guardians, and servants of the community, as well as law enforcers. The epistemological dimension is manifested through decision-making based on facts, verified information, evidence, legal procedures, and analysis of field situations. Meanwhile, the axiological dimension is reflected in a leadership orientation that prioritizes justice, utility, legal certainty, professionalism, integrity, and humane public service. The integration of these three dimensions shapes a leadership style that is more objective, responsive, accountable, and oriented toward just law enforcement. This study reinforces the application of the philosophy of science perspective within the study of police leadership and law enforcement practices at the sector police level.
