Abstract

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous endocrine disorder that is commonly experienced by women of reproductive age worldwide. PCOS is one of the main causes of infertility with many complications such as insulin resistance, ovulatory dysfunction, and hyperandrogenism. Although it is one of the most common causes of infertility in women worldwide, nutritional management for patients with PCOS has not been studied in depth. Therefore, this literature review aims to evaluate and discuss the effect of nutritional intake and diet on PCOS patients. Overall, a low-carbohydrate diet with low-glycemic index and high-unsaturated fats is a good choice of nutritional intake for PCOS patients. In addition, the provision of micronutrient supplements can also play an important role in the nutritional management of PCOS patients.

Abstract

 AbstrakPayah Ginjal Kronik (Chronic Kidney Disease/ CKD) adalah   kelainan pada fungsi atau struktur ginjal  dan  telah  berlangsung  lebih  dari  3  bulan.  Menurut Kidney  Foundation’s  Kidney  Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative fungsi ginjal diklasifikasikan menjadi stadium 1 hingga 5. Pada CKD, nutrisi  dan  diet memiliki  peranan  penting  baik  dalam  mencegah  progresi  penyakit  maupun menurunkan gejala yang ada. Asupan protein sebelum dilakukan hemodialisis adalah 0,6 g/kgBB/hari atau setara jika menggunakan analog keton dan kombinasinya dengan diet. Selain dengan pembatasan asupan protein, pasien dengan Payah Ginjal Kronik disarankan mendapatkan asupan energi yang adekuat  di  mana  pada  pasien  berusia  kurang  dari  60  tahun  membutuhkan  126-167  KJ/hari (hemodialisis) dan 146 KJ/hari (dialisis peritoneal) serta lebih dari 60 tahun membutuhkan 126-146 KJ/hari.  Vitamin  D diberikan  pada  pasien  yang  mengalami  penurunan  pada  serum 25-hydroxy- vitamin D. Kata kunci:  Payah Ginjal Kronik, asupan protein, asupan energy, vitamin D

Abstract

Globalization and urbanization have a considerable impact in eating habits. These have caused many people eat fast food which contains high calories and low nutrition. Eating fast food has become a risk factor for obesity. This study was a cross-sectional analytics study which was conducted in September 2017. Subjects of 85 active students of the 2016 batch from faculty of medicine Ukrida were selected by a simple random sampling. The study found that among the surveyed students, 37.6% rarely ate fast food, whereas 62.4% usually ate fast food. The chi-square analysis obtained a p value of 0.000 which indicated that there was a relationship between fast food consumption habit with Body Mass Index. It was also found that age and gender didn’t have relationship with Body Mass Index.Keywords: habit of consumption, fast food, body mass index
