Abstract

The research objective is to examine the best materials of primary packaging for beledang fish crackers and measure its value added. The packaging used in the research are plastic PP (Polypropylene) with a thickness of 0.09 mm, rigid LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) plastic with a thickness of 0.36 mm, OPP multilayer (Oriented Polypropylene) with a thickness of 0.06 mm, aluminum foil packaging with a thickness of 0.04 mm and plastic vacuum with a thickness of 0.02 mm. Respondents in the study were experts respondents consist of one academic person in food packaging subject, one practitioners in food industry (owners of the fish industry beledang chips) and three person of BPPOM practitioners in Bengkulu. The results showed that rigid LDPE plastic is considered to be the best packaging. The value-added on beledang fish crackers for using rigid LDPE plastic is 51504.48 USD / kg or increase of 49.05%.

Abstract

Cube chili has potential to be commercialized.   However, packaging of the product has not yet been prepared well for commercialized purpose. Therefore, it’s necessary to do a research about product packaging.  This research aims to obtain the best secondary packaging for cube chili, determine the level of consumer preference towards the packaging and get the information about the added value of packaged cube chilli. Selection of the best secondary packaging for cube chili according assessment from 5 experts with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, distributing hedonic test questionnaires to 25 customers for the selection of the preferred packaging, analyzed with Kruskal Wallis method and determination of the added value packaging with Hayami method. Secondary packagings that have been used are  plastic box polistirene (PS) with thickness of 0.167 mm, folding box carton (FC) with thickness of 0.5 mm and  plastic box polistirene (PS) with thickness of 1 mm. Result of this research  showed that the best secondary packaging  according to expert assessment is PS box 1 mm (0,468).  The packaging of cube chili that most preferred by consumers is FC-box 0.5 mm (4,44). The highest added value is owned by the cube chili that packed with PS boxes 0.167 mm (51.89%)

Abstract

YSD-UNIB12 solar dryer has been modified its interior by replacing the trays with rail suitable for clothes hanger and size in order to be applied to dry clothes. The dryer had 3 x 6 m2 total area with about 300 pieces of clothes capacity. The dryer finishes drying of wet towel faster (about 12 hours) than that of sun drying (more than 18 hours). The dryer also completed drying of “batik” cloth comparable to that of sun drying (about 13 hours) and drying of singlet faster (12 hours) that of sun drying (13 hours). The modified YSD-UNIB12 resulted better quality of dry cloth and was ready to be adopted for drying clothes

Abstract

The aim of research was to identify the attributes that baytat consumers want, determine the customer satisfaction of baytat cake and get a map attributes of baytat cake. Locations were selected intentionally (purposive). Variables and attributes used are: 1) quality of product (color of cake, aroma of cake, texture of cake, taste of cake, and the shelf life of product), 2) packaging products (appeal illustration, color packaging, capabilities of packaging to protect the product, practicality packaging) and 3)  price of product. Identify the attributes that consumers want analyzed by validity and reliability test; used 22 respondents. Level of customer satisfaction was analyzed by CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) and map attributes were analyzed using Importance Performance Analysis (IPA); total respondents are 100 consumers with convenience sampling technique. The results showed that the attributes that consumers want baytat is an attraction illustration, color packaging, packaging capabilities protect products, practical packaging, the color of the cake, cake aroma, the texture of the cake, cake flavor, shelf life of products and product prices. CSI analysis results indicate the level of customer satisfaction with cake baytat of 80.41%. Map quadrant of the following attributes: quadrant 1 (the color of the cake and the price of the product), Quadrant II (cake flavor, aroma of cookies and texture of the cake), Quadrant III (packaging capabilities, appeal of the packaging and packaging color) and Quadrant IV (the shelf life of product and practicality packaging).
