Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a reading assessment instrument that can be used by teachers to assess students' reading skills in learning Indonesian Language in elementary school. In addition, the developed instrument can also be used by teachers as a learning tool or learning strategy in reading. Among the instruments that were developed are reading comprehension assessment instruments in the form of cloze test. The study was carried out using research and development methods. The review process consists of three phases, namely the needs analysis phase, the design and development phase, and the implementation and evaluation phase. The needs analysis phase was carried out in three elementary schools in the Banda Aceh City area, involving both teachers and students from the schools. Based on the data from the needs analysis (phase 1), the study continues with the instrument design and development phase (phase 2), and after the developed instrument meets the validity and reliability prerequisite conditions set by the expert and user assessments, the next phase is implementation and evaluation (phase 3). The third phase of the study was carried out in two stages, namely the implementation and evaluation of small groups/preliminary field testing (8 students) and the implementation and evaluation involving one class students/operational field testing (23 students). The results of the third phase indicate that the developed instrument of reading comprehension assessment in the form of cloze test is effective, right on the target, in accordance with the stage of students' reading ability, according to the needs of the teacher, and can be used by the teacher as an assessment instrument and reading learning strategy. Keywords: development research, reading comprehension, assessment instrument, cloze test

Abstract

This study aims to reveal criticisms or input on the quantum teaching and quantum learning learning models. This study uses the Content Analysis method. The data sources for this research are articles that have been published on the topic of quantum teaching and quantum learning, the Qur'an and various other sources. In applying the learning model, the following matters must be considered; (1) managing the implementation of learning, (2) the communication process in applying the model, (3) learning plans that will be applied to students. (4) student activities, (5) student learning outcomes. In addition, to apply a learning model also needs to be considered; (1) the character of the students, (2) the basic abilities of the students, (3) the availability of facilities and infrastructure, time allocation, (4) the ability of the teacher, (5) the results to be achieved. The results of this study indicate that the quantum learning model has several advantages and disadvantages. Criticism of the quantum teaching and quantum learning learning models based on the considerations above, criticism of the quantum teaching and quantum learning learning models are; (1) requires careful preparation for teachers and a supportive environment; (2) takes a long time to implement, (3) requires and demands more specific teacher expertise and skills. (4) It is difficult to understand the different characters of students, (5) it is difficult to identify children's skills, (6) it requires large finances and each child has different abilities. The criticisms mentioned above are intended so that in order to apply the learning model, it is necessary to consider these various criticisms so that the teaching-learning process is truly useful and runs well.
