Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face learning has certain conditions so that the health of both teachers and students remains healthy. One way of prevention at Petra Christian University (PCU) is to check the temperature when entering the campus area. However, manually checking the temperature and looking at the campus access permit made several students or lecturers queue because the security had not finished seeing the campus access permit or checking the temperature of the first visitor who came.For this reason, if there is a program that is able to recognize students and check student temperatures, it will help to expedite the checking process at PCU. The author tries to implement a thermal camera and RFID scanner on a raspberry pi 3 mini computer to be used as a tool that can recognize students through the student identity card and to check student temperatures. In addition, data from checking can be stored in the database to view the records according to the checking information obtained.The results of the system test show that the implementation of the thermal camera and RFID scanner is able to read student identity card and check student temperatures. However, when checking the temperature, the camera has problems when several objects are caught on the screen. Such as the presence of other person or other object such as student’s carrying items that contain hot temperatures. This causes the system to record the temperature of the object that has the hottest temperature in front of the camera screen, this can cause information errors in the checking process.

Abstract

The maintenance of mother-in-law's tongue ornamental plants often makes mistakes because ornamental plants have many types of plants. Some ornamental plants such as mother-in-law's tongue have a quite different handling compared to most of the existing ornamental plants such as air requirements around 5-8% while most ornamental plants require 50-70%.The problem that the author wants to solve is by utilizing android and IoT applications which function to monitor the mother-in-law's tongue ornamental plants and provide adequate watering and fertilization.The test was carried out using 4 ornamental plants that were treated with different treatments. From the results of the tests carried out, the application that was made was able to monitor and control the water and fertilizer content accurately and the results from the test method were able to achieve an accuracy value of 100%.

Abstract

Along with the current pandemic that’s been going on, most people will spend their time at home, and wants to feel comfortable and safe because they spend most of the time inside their house. Many burglary door cases happen because the lack of security at their homes.In this research, a trial will be conducted to help resolve the problem by implementing Internet of Things technology on doors as a door lock. There are two ways that can be used for unlocking the lock. First is through scanning a QR Code and second is through a stick from NFC Tag in the form of a sticker that can be attached at a mobile phone. Scanning QR Code will be assisted by a camera, while the NFC Tag reader will be assisted by radio frequency waves to view the objects. Lastly, the fill in QR Code and NFC Sticker data will be assisted by an android-based application, so that the entire technology will be controller by the application. It is hoped that with the help of controlling the entire technology with this application, it will reduce and solve the existing problems regarding door locks that has been happening in our society.

Abstract

Concrete iron or reinforcement bar is steel used for reinforcement in concrete construction or known as reinforced concrete. Reinforcing bar can undergo a corrosion process caused by chemical or electrochemical reactions between steel reinforcement and its environment. One of many way to protect concrete from corrosion is by cathodic protection. There are two types of cathodic protection, namely sacrificial anodes and impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP). ICCP is more commonly used for protection in reinforced bar structures. In ICCP, negative current flows to the reinforcing bar and positive current flows to the anode. This is a method to protect the reinforcing bar from corrosion. In addition to the corrosion protection system, there is also a half-cell potential test to measure the chance of corrosion of the reinforcing bar. Measurements are made by reading the potential difference between the reference electrode and the reinforcing bar. Chances of corrosion can be known level of corrosion by reading the table of corrosion opportunities with ASTM C879-09 standard.In this research, the implementation of the internet of things will be carried out on the cathodic protection system to protect the reinforcing bar from corrosion, so that the user can monitor and control the provision of cathodic protection on the reinforcing bar.Based on the results of the tests that have been carried out, the IoT system can regulate the power supply by setting the voltage and current and can schedule the power supply to provide electric current to the reinforcing bar and can provide notifications if the electric current flowing in the concrete is more than or less than ICCP standard. The average difference between the readings between the voltage sensor and the multimeter is 21.07 mV. The reading value of the potential difference between the concrete iron and the reference electrode in the half-cell potential test method before it was carried out was -216.15 mV and after ICCP was carried out, the value became -167.974 mV. There was an increase of 58.596 mV after ICCP was performed.

Abstract

In this modern era, technology is developing very quickly which can facilitate human needs. The fast developed technology need more energy resources such as electricity. This thesis is intended to display electrical energy parameter in the Petra Christian Building via website to show the energy consumption patterns. The data processing method is carried out using PHP on the website. Predictive data analysis using data from Petra Christian University Building which is sent via Gateway to WiFi/LAN. The result of the thesis shows that, the result of the data pattern can help provide an understanding of the pattern of electricity consumption in each building. The regression prediction result has a slope of about -0.75% from the original data. The survey result has an overall rating of 4,375 out of 5 which indicates that users are satisfied with this website.
