Abstract

This research was conducted to find the root of problem by using CP8211 natural color product as research object. The problem was identified with using lean manufacturing philosophy concept. The 5 Whys Analysis technique is used to identify existing problems. An outline lateness can occur due to two things, namely problems in scheduling and problems in the stamping process itself. Scheduling problems, whether errors in the determination of dates or errors in determining the length of processing time, can occur due to inaccuracy of operator scheduling PT. X itself. Processing problems can occur because the machine's working efficiency does not match the minimum engine capacity of 80%. Inefficient (under 80%) machines can occur due to several factors. The inefficient causes of the engine are identified by using the Cause and Effect Diagram. The results of this study indicate that the factors causing lateness that occur due to scheduling errors in the process of up-down stamping and engine damage are suspected due to engine age of more than 10 years. The solution provided for the scheduling problem is the scheduling operator of PT. X must be more careful in recording data that has been scheduled in order to avoid misunderstandings. The solution for machine efficiency is PT. X can replace parts of the machine that often damage with a new or replace the old machine with a new one. The new machine still uses the same workings as the old machine, which involves human labor to operate it.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design a ship performance dashboard for the e-filing International Safety Management (ISM) Code system at a company in Surabaya. E-filing system is a system for filling and sending reports by ship crew at sea to the office. The purpose of the e-filing system is to simplify monitoring ISM Code implementation from the office.  But in practice, some problems occurred in the system. Office crews need a long time to process the data and there is not enough information to make a decision. However, the problem can be solved by designing a ship performance dashboard. The dashboard objective is to visualize the important data from the ship so that the company can access the needed information. The dashboard design is based on reports that are sent by the ship crew and then processed with software. Processing data with software can make it easier and faster for the company. The processed data will be visualized using a dashboard for different purposes based on the information that’s needed. Overall, dashboard visualization will provide information about ship audit progress, machine damage and repairment that occurred, main engine indicator, and warning system for each main engine and generator component running hours.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company that produces distribution transformers that have a problem with insufficient production output of the company. Based on company data, the company's target is 372 units/month. Meanwhile, the company's capacity is 207 units/month, which comes from the longest process, namely coil LV. The production capacity problem can be solved by improving the process whose capacity does not reach the target, namely the coil LV and Core Coil Assembly  (CCA). Improvements that are the first priority are the coil LV process as the longest process and increasing the capacity of the CCA process. The proposed alternative for improvement is to add 3 coil LV operators to 11 people and do overtime for 6 operators for 1 day and divide the work elements of the CCA helper. The cost that needs to be spent for the proposal is Rp 14,496,000. The alternative proposals submitted by the authors have also been validated and verified in simulations using ProModel by producing outputs that are close to the company's target.

Abstract

Circuit-breaker industry have to return their machines to get them fixed when it comes to breakdown through the export. The process is involved with 7 departments in which several of those activities are non-value-added activities and cause wasted time for the administrastion document handling. Makigami method is use to map the flow within the process including medium, total activity, and time, in order to identify even eliminate non-value-added activity and the potential of waste. The purpose is to simplify the process into a simple and efficient process. The delivery note documents are now be managed by 2 departments with different asset ownership, which can be categorized as an unnecessary transportation. They want to integrate the person who is in charge of the delivery note documents, any miscommunication between department will subside. The result comes with reduction for 53% in the amount of total process as well as total of waste for 40% and time savings for 39%.

Abstract

Packing material calculation is an important things to be considered by the company. Company still uses a manual method to calculate packing material. Calculation program only calculate four type of packing material which is plywood, pallet, fitting and box. These four packing materials must be adjusted with the company products characteristics that makes these four packing materials have special calculation to increase productivity. Program was made using software called Macro Excel. Designing program provides convenience for company to minimize time and human error. This program also accompanied with a digital dashboard that give information about reorder point and economic order quantity of these four packing materials.

Abstract

PT. X is one of the transformer manufacturers in Indonesia. The difference in standard time at each workstation causes a bottleneck on the Core Coil Assembly (CCA) line resulting in late demand fulfillment. Coil LV has the longest processing time among others, therefore a semi automated machine replacement project is carried out to reduce the processing time. The purpose of this research is to find whether replacement on semi automated machine is the best option to be implemented for coil LV workstation. A Break Even Point (BEP) analysis will be used to compare the current state (manual machine) with two alternatives project (combination of semi automated machine). BEP value of alternative 1 is 2,292 units, while alternative 2 is 2,647 units. However, the replacement project is not feasible to be implemented this year because the use of manual machine has a lower cost to meet the demand of 1,601 units. Actually, the optimal capacity for semi automated machines is 8 coil units per shift, so the company can increase the output capacity by reviewing the number of demands.

Abstract

Board games are designed with the aim of facilitating the learning of Introduction to Industrial Engineering Courses in the UK. Petra to accommodate all student learning styles. The board game is gaming for education that is designed according to learning material in the Introduction to Industrial Engineering, questionnaire survey results and Learning Achievement of Graduates (CPL) 5 number 2, understanding the concepts and work systems to increase productivity. The method used for board game design is based on literature studies and surveys through questionnaires. The board game concept is about working/production systems in the company which consists of 4 processes, that is the process of purchasing raw materials, the production process, the quality checking process, and the sales process. Each process uses applied knowledge or material from the Introduction to Industrial Engineering courses such as Operations Research is a simple linear program, Work Design Analysis (APK) that is the learning curve, Quality Control (QC) which is the DMAIC concept (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). That way board games can be an interesting and useful learning medium for students who are studying in the Introduction to Industrial Engineering course.

Abstract

The curriculum of the Petra Christian University Industrial Engineering Study Program is always updated every four years to keep up with the times, especially in science and technology. However, the evaluation carried out in the curriculum changes did not include the analysis of efficiency and student study results. The curriculum that evaluated in this final project are the curriculum in 2007, 2012, and 2016 with student data used are class 2007, 2012 and 2016. Curriculum evaluation is analyzed using the efficiency measurement method. In addition to efficiency calculations and analysis, this study also looks for the influence between curriculum and majors on GPA by using One-Way ANOVA, Kruskall Wallis, Paired T-Test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank tests. The results obtained indicate that the curriculum changes made by Industrial Engineering are more efficient. Curriculum efficiency has a significant effect on the final GPA and the length of time students graduate. In addition, there is an increase in the final GPA of students compared to the GPA until semester 5, before determining the majors.

Abstract

In starting a new business or becoming an entrepreneur, one can face many obstacles. This study aims to see what obstacles are experienced by S-1 graduates of the Faculty of Industrial Technology in entrepreneurship. Constraints faced can be seen from what factors influence in starting a new business. At the beginning of the study, the constraint factors in entrepreneurship were collected through previous research. The constraint factors that have a relationship with building a new business are as follows: entrepreneurship planning, Internal, leadership, environment. The method used to collect data in this research is by distributing questionnaires to graduates of the Faculty of Industrial Technology. The number of respondents obtained is 98 people who come from 4 study programs. Analysis of the results of the questionnaire using Structural Equetion Modeling with SmartPLS 3.0. shows that entrepreneurship planning has no significant effect on entrepreneurship constraints. Meanwhile, Internal, leadership, and environmental factors significantly influence or have an impact on the obstacles that may be faced in entrepreneurship.
