Abstract

Exercising is one application of a healthy lifestyle, which is now a trend among the people. People usually exercise alone or in a group. Sport club is one of the community faciliies for sports. There have been many found universities in Surabaya and outside Surabaya that have provided their respective sports centers. The design of the sport club is present as a solution where the existing problems are at Petra Christian University of Surabaya, there are still no sport club facilities as a place to perform sports activities optimally and comfortably so that they can maintain a healthy life. The design of the sport club is designed with a concept that combines technology with sports, and also the design adapts to a sport club in general. The facilities provided here are also fairly complete, because in addition to providing weight lifting and cardio, this sports club is also equipped with a sauna in each male and female locker, 4in1 field, swimming  pool and jacuzzi. This 4in1 field is expected to streamline a space that can be used for vaious sports.

Abstract

IPBI (Ikatan Perangkai Bunga Indonesia) community is a community which embraces all flower lovers in Indonesia, but unfortunately this community does not have a permanent place to carry out the community activities. The purpose of this design is to provide a forum to meet the needs of socialization and recreation for flower lovers and optimize activities between IPBI community members. The design method used in this design consists of the stages of Understand, Observe, Point of View, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. The result of this design is an Interior Design for Floral Community and Eco Tourism Center with the concept of Regeneration. Interior elements and furnishings are designed to stimulate flower lovers, especially the millennial generation, to socialize, coordinate and enjoy together. The design goals are expected to form a pattern of activities that are beneficial for flower lovers in Surabaya.

Abstract

The spread of Chinese ethnic in Indonesia made the residents of Xian You immigrate to Indonesia to earn a living. These immigrants then created a Xian You community that aims to cultivate fellow Xian You descendants, educate, and help each other. Today, this community is still standing and has activities that need to be well accommodated with an interactive and educational facility. Application three forms of culture which are the values, order of activity, and spatial organization, initiates the concept of Unity in Balance. Implementation of this concept is shown by using interactive educational media, interior elements that reflects Chinese culture and also a touch of local culture. Space organization used is the implementation of the traditional Chinese house organization. Implementation of this concept is expected to accommodate community activities, attract young generation of the community, and to be the existence proof of Chinese ethnic in Surabaya

Abstract

Interior design of youth talent performing arts center has a purpose to be a place to express artistic expression that is different among other places. This design was made for young talents, especially in Surabaya. This design uses the design thinking method that contains six stages. The site used in this design is the Dyandra Convention Center that is located in the middle of the city to get the ease of access. In this design, the designer uses the concept “Passion of Synchronize Expression”, where there are many expressions in an art show, but it must be synchronized to become an interesting show. The performing arts center provides spaces that can be used from the preparation of a show (training, preparation of decorations, make up and dressing room) and even for producing a show that is watched by the general audience.

Abstract

According to a research that has been studied by WHO (World Health Organization), as many as 800.000 people commit suicide every year, which means that in every 40 seconds, one person dies by commiting suicide. Mental illness such as depression, anxiety disorders, and other illnesses are often caused by stress. Even though being stressed is considered normal, if the conditions become worse, it would give negative impacts to the body, and one of them is suicide. Brain Rest Area exists with a purpose to create ambiences and interior systems that would help stressed people feel better, and also provide education about the importance of mental health, so the public would be able to empathize with the stressed people. Brain Rest Area design applies the biophilic and healing environment design methods, supported by human-centered design and empathic design approaches. The result of this design concludes that Brain Rest Area can be an alternative facility for the stressed people, supported by the programs that help stress’ healing process, such as non-medical (cognitive) therapies in feeling rooms, pillow pools, clinics, volunteer booths, meditation, and other facilities, with the concept of Brain Rest Area itself that focusses on giving a rest to the brain, by relieving fatigue and giving relaxing moments for the stressed people.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multi-religious country and various traditional beliefs that should be known by people as nation’s cultural richness, so that people could react and behave  wiser in the society. Interior Design of Traditional Beliefs Museum in Yogyakarta offers an educational facility in the form of a museum that will help the people of Indonesia know more about the traditional beliefs of Indonesia. The design method used is the adoption of the design thinking scheme according to Jeroen de Groot namely Discover, Describe, Ideate and Prototype. Those design methods are the steps taken to find the right design solution through a design concept. The design concept chosen using the theory of cultural approach by Koentjaraningrat includes mentifact, sociofact, and artifact. These three aspects of cultural manifestation are translated and reprocessed to find a good design concept which is, "Reborn: Experiencing Traditional Beliefs of Indonesian Archipelago".The innovation in this concept applied in the form of new experiences offered in the depiction of the atmosphere in each zone of exhibition area that utilizes the five senses of human, namely sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. Through the innovation of the five human senses is people expected to receive the knowledge about the traditional beliefs presented in the museum clearly and effectively.

Abstract

Surabaya is the second largest city in Indonesia right after Jakarta, the capital. It has a myriad of achievements, one of which is the implementation of their open government system. The interior design of planning gallery of Surabaya is a response to that Open Government award from Singapore magazine by enhancing the Open Government system. Surabaya is yet to have a place where people can get information on city planning, which could create a transparency between the people and the government. The gallery could also be an educational center where people can participate and keep track of the city’s development. The methods used in the design is design thinking, consisting of seven steps: sense intent, know context, know people, frame insight, explore concepts, frame solutions, dan realize offering. The result is a gallery with the concept of a time capsule that holds the city’s past and future. The design has a galery with an exhibition hall, a theater, a communal room, maquette area, cafe, an aspiration room, and consultation area. At the exhibition hall, people can get information on Surabaya’s present, like facts & challenges that the city is currently facing, and on Surabaya’s future where people can contribute to the city’s development. This gallery could be a space where the people can learn, address their aspiration, and discuss the development of Surabaya.

Abstract

There are many sports venues for public (unisex) for public in Surbaya. Most women feel do not feel comfortable and free when they are doing exercise with the opposite sex. Besides, women have different sports necessity from men such as the need of lighter load and the preference to exercise in groups. To create a fitness center that can fulfill the sports needs of women whose primary goal is for body performance not for achievement, the sports facilities design are based on the literature and the experts. In addition, designer also do brainstorming to produce a representative fitness center design that focused for women.This women's fitness center becomes a special sports venue because it can fulfill the needs of women's sport optimally and adjust the characteristics of women that can attract women to exercise.With this design, women in Surabaya can exercise comfortably and freely because it is not unisex place so that women can become more healthy, fit and have ideal body.

Abstract

Humans in working activities or doing tasks require a comfortable atmosphere and conducive course. Co-working space is a common office concept for start-ups especially for young people who are just starting their business. This design aims to create a Creative Industry Co-working Space for creative industries that create a productive work atmosphere as well as effective and efficient and become an object of interest by start-ups in Surabaya.The method used in this design is through the process of design thinking starting from the stage of understanding is to understand the object of design by looking for literature as a theoretical basis. Followed by observe with field studies of similar objects. Then proceed with an ideate that starts to go into concept and schematic design. After that the selected designs are developed and presented through work drawings and presentation mockups at the prototype stage. After that the test is done as the final evaluation of the supervisor and examiner.Interior Design Creative Industry Co-working Space is designed by creating a dynamic and conducive working environment, which encourages users to always move in developing their ideas. Through a modern design and simple, but stay elegant and comfortable. Available support facilities such as phone booth, coffee corner for leisure, lounge, self pantry, reading spot, gaming room and outdoor communal space for assembled area.
