Abstract

Restaurant library is a place where people are willing to spend their time to eat, drink, read, and even to share stories with their relatives. The existence of restaurant library is not just for enjoying food, but also educating them by adding insight through the books collection about traveling and culinary. In order to achieve the purpose of this restaurant library, “Dessert Island” concept is applied. Within this concept, the ideas of transitional furniture and interior element combine the feminism and masculine using natural materials. A warm ambience which comforts people inside this restaurant library will certainly make them do anything even far better. The facilities in the restaurant library must be adjusted to the people’s needs by dividing restaurant library to few areas so people can move comfortably. This design plan is expected to succeed giving positive impacts to people inside this restaurant library.

Abstract

Elderly care is one solution to entrust parents, especially elderly people. However, the name of the nursing home itself is often viewed negatively by the community. Placing elderly people in nursing homes is deemed inappropriate because a child is considered unable to take care of his parents, even though they do it without reason. Along with the development of the times, a child's habit of caring for his parents is increasingly rare, due to a lot of busyness. In addition, it is not uncommon for the elderly to be entrusted to the place at their own discretion. For the elderly, they can be paid more attention to in nursing homes and can socialize with people of their age.This interior design aims to eradicate the stigma of the community towards the Elderly Care itself, which is able to provide optimal service to the elderly including physical, mental, and social development, as well as fulfilling all the needs of the elderly, especially those who get less attention from their own families. This elderly care is designed to provide comfort for the elderly by applying universal designs to their interiors, and also ergonomic furniture. Then it can be useful for many people, especially for the elderly in carrying out their daily activities and their life.

Abstract

Accommodation is one of the important things in tourism. Nowadays, especially in Surabaya, there are rarely motels with high quality facilities. Although the motel has a cheaper price than hotels, visitors still need to feel comfortable when staying at the motel. This inspired the author to design a Post-Modern style motel in Surabaya. The design of this motel is intended for people who are in transit or backpackers so they  can get a good price accommodation with comfortable and pleasant experience. Post-Modern itself is a dualism flow that combines modern functional architecture with decorative ornaments in the past. This Post-Modern design style inspired author to design a simple Motel, with a touch of decoration that makes a motel not only a place to stay, but becomes something unique and interesting for tourist and the people of Surabaya itself.

Abstract

Playground is a useful place for children to explore, play and spend time with their friends. Every playground has a character and purpose, which causes every playgrounds have different sensations. Therefore, the design of the playground itself must have an exciting and educational activity, especially for early childhood. The role of a game is very important for children's intelligence from motoric, cognitive, and affective aspects. At early age the physical growth and development of the child's brain is very rapid. So playing and learning is an activity that deserves to be created into an area or building.
