Abstract

“Fashion Store Local Brand” in Banjarmasin is opened to fasilitate the increasing interest of local brand by adopting the local culture into deign. The design is referring to Banjarmasin‟s local culture, the character of Puteri Junjung Buih as a leader as Banjar‟s Kingdom. With the middle-up target market, “fashion store local brand” is designed modern and luxurious. The interior elements represent the character of Putri Junjung Buih, using „Sasirangan‟ fabrication which is Putri Junjung Buih‟s individual clothing style. The design theme “Magnificent Queen” is applicated using post-modern dramatic style. It fits to give luxurious look to the fashion store.

Abstract

As the second largest city in Indonesia, economic development in Surabaya is well supported by creative industry sector which also became the backbone of the economy in Surabaya. The growth of creative industry is directly proportional to the emergence of creative young generation in Surabaya. Designing a creative hub is a form of response to the magnitude of potential creative resources of creative young generation Surabaya on the development of creative economy. This creative hub will be designed to create a platform for young people in Surabaya, especially the creators, innovators, local entrepreneurs, makers, and all other creative people to meet, interact, collaborate, and innovate. The concept of this design is to provide public facilities that can accommodate the positive activities of young people and create an ecosystem that is conducive to the development of creative economy in Surabaya. Therefore, the design scope includes creative office, event space, fabrication workshop, and café.

Abstract

Rever Academy is one of the educational institutes that creates professionals in make up and hair-do in international quality. This institute is one of the well-known make up and hair styling training centers in Surabaya. This interior design of Rever Academy uses the site on one of the buildings in Surabaya named Spazio Office Tower. The location is in Western Surabaya, to be exact in the Jalan Lingkar Dalam. This design aims to create a facility of training center for make up and hair-do that can meet the needs of students and visitors with the smokeys concept that combines the color of black, white and brown to give a more interesting atmosphere (elegant) but still keep the characteristic of Rever itself. Therefore, it is hoped that the students and customers will feel more comfortable inside the salon area. Apart from that, this design aim to increase the previous income, create a qualified employee, and escalate the staff and employee performance.

Abstract

The increasing modern life requires people to keep working. Not all environments brings positive impact, but also negative impact, one of them is Sick Building Syndrome. SBS is a health nuisance that relates with a person's duration inside the office building. Putting plants into rooms is one of the SBS solution. But the plants' existence may also cause new problems for the working space. It requires a solution which is able to put plants into a room without cutting a lot of spaces, by adhering to the values of health, efficiency and effectiveness. As basic workmanship, the design thinking by David Kelley adopted into several stages which are initial stage (empathize), determination stage (define), idea finding stage (ideate), trial stage (prototype), and implementation (test). This design has 3 sets of irrigation system, which are independent irrigation, irrigation by user, and watering by others than the user. This third system is intended for ease and efficiency to users of related furniture. Besides, its preferred for the health value which want to be achieved with the presence of plants.

Abstract

Know of a tribe not only understand how the tribe to survive and adapt , but can not be separated from knowing local customs / values are used . Likewise with the Dayak Kenyah in East Kalimantan that have unique customs and practice . Not only from daily uniqueness , but also of their crafts in the form of carved ornaments . Symbols and ornaments is not only the customary ritual objects but also on the equipment and the traditional long house ( Lamin ) . Just like other tribes in Indonesia , the Dayak Kenyah ornaments also has a meaning and significance in each symbol , so it is interesting to study . Used to assess these semiotic theory proposed by Pierce , which is a study of this method to obtain the meaning of a sign or symbol , function , and relevance of signs to one another . The existence of symbols and ornaments is closely related to the ancestors animism dynamism Dayak Kenyah.

Abstract

Down Syndrome is a condition of underdevelopment physical and mental condition in children resulting from the failure of a pair of chromosome 21 (trisomy 21) to separate from each other during the division. This condition caused physical and intelligence abnormalities of children with down syndrome, resulting negative discrimination and stigma from people around the community. In fact, children with down syndrome have a wide range of talent and have potential achievements in creativity. Children with down syndrome can be taught and trained with various therapies in order to have a supportive physical condition for self-sufficient living. Through the existing problems, a facility with an interior that have the ability to train for self-sufficient living and creativity development for children with down syndrome is required. The concept of Healing Environment is applied to the design with the implementation on activities (music class, cooking class, snoezelen therapy, etc) and interior design within the important aspects (noise control, privacy, color, texture, etc). Environment that supports healing can provide comfort to children so it will speed up the process of adaptive behavior that is useful for understanding in doing their activities independently (self-sufficient living).

Abstract

Surabaya City is the second largest city that presents high prospects in trade and setting up businesses. Seen from the people’s lifestyle, especially in the matters of fashion which is a human basic need. Fashion grows in line with trend, nor among children. Children’s needs become a priority for parents, like their equipment, entertainment, and education so that increases the need of facilities provided for the children. Because of the absence of a retail which facilitates all the needs of children at the same time, this design aims to give facilities in shopping, playing and learning at once. Retail not only becomes a place for shopping but also to fulfill the need of new experience and the mood in entertainment and education that impacts positively on children development.

Abstract

Cafe in Surabaya intended for tea lovers to enjoy tea after facing the daily routine - day and the pressure faced, in addition to be able to respond to their needs. Many people are less know more about tea though tea has become a quite drink in the interest of various parties, by providing a place to show the typical style of the origin of tea in Asia (Japan, Indonesia, China) in Surabaya, is expected to be a container according to the situation of communities saturating a day - day. The concept of this design is modern contemporary style, which in the process of designing blends modern concepts that are now being Boming by using a material that gives the impression of a natural with the formation of reps for meninjukkan consistency in the culture of tea-making. Of course the method of observation, brainstorming and implementation before design. Expected visitors can feel the atmosphere of the place is so into it. Therefore the design of the room is really a hallmark of the implementation of the State and tea combined with stylish modern interior, visible from the typical symbol of the State, stylized formation of the tea and the State itself.

Abstract

Rattan is a material that widely found in Indonesia, especially in Borneo (Kalimantan). In the design, rattan is used as the main material for the product. The product was a furniture set for commercial building, especially cafe. It was designed based on the needs of commercial buildings development and considered as a good opportunity for commercial building product. The target market for this design is the middle-upper class in Kalimantan. The design was inspired by the floating market, which was a local culture of South Kalimantan and the icon of Banjarmasin. The design method adopts some steps of design thinking such as understanding, observe, frame and reframe, ideate, prototype, and test. The dynamic move is a concept that was adapted from the floating market in Kalimantan. The resulting products which are bench, stool, coffee table, and dining chair, show an innovative and dynamic shape which could give a movement impression.

Abstract

Several groups of people was initiating to preserve traditional games and established a community called Kampoeng Dolanan. Kampoeng Dolanan is basically a community that preserves Indonesian traditional games in a unique way (adapting Ki Hajar Dewantara’s teaching method), also encourages people to participate on activities held by the community. However, Kampoeng Dolanan doesn’t have a proper space to facilitate their activities. This design project will provides space to educate, conserve, entertain, and also a place to appreciate traditional games. The design used human-centered design references and focused on community activities with the concept of KML, meaning ‘Introduce, Play, and Preserve’. The design concept is implemented in the space planning and organization, color scheme, material used for the interior elements inside the Omah Dolanan (the name of community’s house). Omah Dolanan itself is organized to accommodate the necessities and activities of the community. Moreover, the purpose of this house is to give people acknowledgement about Indonesian traditional games, also enlighten them about Kampoeng Dolanan at the same time.
