Abstract

Abstract : Drop Foot, AFO Fleksibel, AFO Jointed Plantar Stop, Walking Speed, CVA. Research Objectives To determine whether there is a difference in the use of AFO Flexible and AFO Jointed Plantar Stop against the walking speed of someone who has drop foot because of CVA. The experimental quasy research method used two group pre and post test design approach. The study population was patients who had drop foot because of CVA. Statistical test result with paired t test at Flexible AFO user group walking speed shows p value 0,000 <0,05 so there is Flexible AFO effect to different speed of walking in drop foot sufferer. Result of statistical test with paired t test at walk time of user group of AFO Jointed Plantar Stop shows p value 0,000 <0,05 so there is influence of AFO Jointed Plantar Stop to difference of walking time in patient of drop foot. Statistical test results with paired t test at the walking speed of AFO Jointed Plantar Stop user group showed p value 0,000 <0,05 so that there is influence of AFO Jointed Plantar Stop to difference of walking speed in drop foot sufferer. The result of statistical test with paired t test at walk time of AFO Flexible user group with AFO Jointed Plantar Stop shows p value 0,013 <0,05 so there is time difference walking using AFO Flexible with AFO Jointed Plantar Stop on walking time in drop foot sufferer. The result of statistical test with paired t test at Flexible AFO user group speed with AFO Jointed Plantar Stop shows p value 0,012 <0,05 so there is difference of walking speed using AFO Flexible with AFO Jointed Plantar Stop to walking speed at patient of foot foot.Dengan Conclusion The use of AFO Flexible has a better walkspeed effect compared to the use of AFO Jointed plantar stop with an average difference of 0.010

Abstract

Background: The physical condition of patients with transtibial amputations affects the fulfillment of activity of daily living. Transtibial Prosthesis is used to increase the patient's activity abilities. This research is to find the effect of using transtibial prostheses on the activity of daily living. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of transtibial prostheses on the activities of daily life. Methods: This research method uses Quasi Experiment in the form of two-group post test only design. The study population was transtbial amputee at PT. Kuspito Prosthetic Orthotics. The sample in this study 40 people, namely 20 people using Transtibial Prosthesis, 20 people using Axial Crutches. The study was conducted at PT. Kuspito Prosthetic Orthotics from April to May 2019. This study used an observation sheet prepared by Kempen, et al (1996), namely The Groningen Activity Restriction Scale. Results: The normality test used is Shapiro Wilk. Mann Whitney test resuls shows an average difference of ADL between users of transtibial prosthesis users (22.40) and axillary crutch users (19.95) with a p value = 0.008 where a p value <0.05. Conclusion: So there is a difference in ADL which is statistically significant in patients using transtibial prosthesis and patients using axillary crutches. Where for transtibial prosthesis users better in ADL than axillary crutch users.

Abstract

Abstract: CTEV, Dennis Brown Splint, Ponseti Metod. Congenital varus Talipes equino is one orthopedic congenital anomalies derived from the Latin talus (ankle), pes (foot), and equinus (resemble horse) is meant heel in plantar flexion and varus position means inversion and adduction. Maintenance by way of non-operative (manipulation and immobilization) and operative therapy. Non operative using the Ponseti method in which the cast performed serial and bracing. Bracing called dennis brown splint / foot abduction brace is used to maintain the foot in abduction and dorsiflexion position. To determine the effect of the use of dennis brown splint on the degree of varus in patients CTEV. This research is a retrospective case-control approach. Sampling using consecutive sampling. The subject of research as many as 15 samples. All samples are given modality busing dennis brown splint. Test requirements obtained by normality test p <0.05, so the data is not normally distributed, then the statistical analysis used was Wilcoxon. Wilcoxon statistical test showed that there was no effect of a decrease in the degree of varus with pre-post test without grouping right foot p = 0.103, and the grouping of the unilateral and bilateral leg on the right foot p = 0.317, p = 0.156 (p> 0.05), as well as pre -Post test without grouping on the left foot p = 0.044 (p <0.05) means that there is an influence, the grouping of the unilateral and bilateral leg on the left leg p = 0.102 and p = 0.151 (p> 0.05). According to the results of statistic analisis concluded there was no effect of the use of dennis brown splint to decrease the degree of varus in patients CTEV.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to examine differences in walking balance across body mass index (BMI) categories and fall risk categories among community-dwelling older adults. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 55 older adults aged 50–90 years in a community setting in Central Java, Indonesia. Body mass index was classified using Asia–Pacific criteria. Fall risk was assessed using the Morse Fall Scale, and walking balance was evaluated using the 8-Foot Up and Go test, categorized as balanced or impaired. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s chi-square test. Results: The mean age of participants was 63.16 ± 8.60 years, and the mean BMI was 22.02 ± 3.86 kg/m². Overall, 69.1% of participants exhibited impaired walking balance. No significant association was found between BMI category and walking balance status (χ² = 4.78, p = 0.188). In contrast, fall risk category showed a significant association with walking balance status (χ² = 11.61, p = 0.003), with higher fall risk corresponding to greater balance impairment. Conclusion: Walking balance impairment among older adults was significantly associated with fall risk category but not with BMI classification. These findings indicate that fall risk assessment provides greater clinical relevance for identifying balance impairment than anthropometric measures alone.
