Abstract

This article examines the Qur’an conflict perspective and the role of Indonesian women in conflict resolution efforts on a rural, regional and international scale. The results of this study indicate that conflicts in the Qur'an are presented in the form of stories with conflicts. Conflict stories in Qur’an are such as the conflict between Abel and Qabil, conflict between the Prophet Joseph and his brothers and conflict between the Prophet Moses and a Qibthi. The Qur’an is also about conflict resolution in various scattered verses. In the current conflicts, women have a significant role and efforts to resolve them. Indonesian women activists play a big role in conflict resolution that leads to the peace process. On a rural scale, the example is like conflict resolution by women activists in Gadingan village, Sliyeg Subdistrict, Indramayu Regency. On a regional scale such as the conflict resolution of women activists in Maluku and the international scale of conflict resolution conducted by Yenny Wahid on conflicts in Rohingya Myanmar.

Abstract

This article aims to examine problems related to metaphors (majāz) found in the Qur’an which were debated by scholars of Arabic literatures during the classic times. Majāz, opposed to ḥaqīqah, is a part of the Qur'an language styles which triggers theological debates among its supporters. This article used a qualitative approach, through library research, with a comprehensive and comparative analysis method among supporters of theological sects in understanding the problems of majāz in the Qur'an. The results of this study indicated that the debates on the issue raises three opinions in theological sects; Firstly, the Ẓahirī and Salafi sects reject the existence of majāz in the Qur'an. They refuse the interpretations of things that are not standardized in the text of the Qur'an. Secondly, the Mu'tazilah sect is exaggerated in accepting majāz and attacking other theological sects that are inconsistent with their interpretations of the text. Thirdly, the Ash’arī sect which is more moderate in confirming majāz. The starting point of their debates over majāz in the Qur'an is the difference in analysis and conclusions about the origin of language. The Ẓahirī and Salafi groups conclude that language is solely a gift from God, so there should be no change in terms of meaning. The Mu'tazilah believes that language is an invention and human power, that’s why a word may have more than one meaning. Whilst, the Ash’arī argues that language is indeed a human creativity, but it cannot be denied that God also plays a role in giving human abilities, so there are other possible meanings of a word

Abstract

Pesantren has historically demonstrated self-autonomy in institutional management and finance. The forthcoming regulations governing pesantren funding provide several challenges for pesantren management. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method to examine the government's readiness to execute the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on funding for the pesantren operations. The results of the study indicate that the government's readiness to execute the pesantren endowment fund involves the establishment of regulations as technical guidance and instructions for implementing the policy. The response of pesantren management to implementing the Perpres on funding for pesantren is predominantly positive. They fully support the implementation of the regulation that would allocate funding for pesantren. However, socialization and formulation of the regulation technical instructions and the legal derivatives from the pesantren-related policy are essential in executing the Perpres for the execution and implementation of pesantren endowment funds.
