Abstract

Waste water treatment by industry usually uses chemicals that may lead to additional environmental pollution load. On the other hand, water demand increases and environmental regulations regarding waste water disposal requirements that apply more stringent. It is necessary for waste treatment technique that accommodate this requirement. Electrocoagulation process is a technique of wastewater treatment that has been chosen because the technique is environmentally friendly. This paper will review some of the research or application electrocoagulation process which is conducted on industrial waste water. Types of industrial waste water that is to be reviewed include: industries batik, sarongs, textiles, palm oil, slaughterhouses, food, leather tanning, laundry, pulp and paper. Overview reviewed in this research include the waste water treatment process in several processing variations such as: change in time, electricity and kind of electrodes. The results of the research with electrocoagulation process in the industry are the removal efficiency of TSS, COD, BOD5, Chrome, phosphate, surfactants, color turbidity influenced by several factors including time, strong current, voltage, distance and type of electrode and pH. The results of the study with electrocoagulation process in the industry is the removal efficiency of TSS, COD, BOD5, chromium, phosphate, surfactant, turbidity color that are influenced by several factors including time, strong current, voltage, distance and type of electrode and pH. It is hoped the information presented in this article can be a reference for similar research for the improvement of research on the process ektrokoagulasi.Key words: elektrocoagulation, removal eficiency, environmental friendly

Abstract

Musim kemarau yang berkepanjangan di tahun 2015 ini berimplikasi pada bencana kekeringan di sejumlah wilayah di Indonesia. Kekeringan itu juga melanda  propinsi Riau  dan kondisi daerahnya dari tahun ke tahun  semakin parah karena  kemarau panjang. Musim kemarau di bulan Juli 2015, sebanyak 17 kecamatan yang tersebar di enam kabupaten dan kota di tengah Pulau Sumatera itu tidak mengalami hujan selama lebih dari 30 hari. Keadaan ini menyebabkan bencana kekeringan danberdampak terhadap krisis air  di lokasi tersebut serta daerah sekitarnya  seperti di kabupaten Pelalawan. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap bencana kekeringan yang terjadi dan mitigasi yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi bencana tersebut yang dapat diterapkan di kabupaten Pelalawan, Riau. Bencana kekeringan yang termasuk klasifikasi kekeringan sosio-ekonomi telah terjadi di kabupaten Pelalawan berupa kekurangan sumber air, kekeringan sumber air sungai dan kekeringan di lahan gambut. Mitigasi untuk mengatasi bencana kekeringan dapat dilakukan dalam jangka panjang maupun jangka pendek. Mitigasi jangka pendek di kawasan Teknopolitan Pelalawan yaitu dengan pembuatan sumur air tanah dalam dengan kedalaman sampai 110 meter. Sedangkan mitigasi jangka panjang di kabupaten  tersebut dengan pembangunan sekat kanal. Rekayasa teknologi yang lebih tinggi hingga saat ini belum ada yang bisa diterapkan untuk skala nasional.

Abstract

Domestic wastewater from the regional office in Jakarta is one of the contributors to environmental pollution. Many office buildings in Jakarta are not managing the domestic wastewater, except BPP Technology  office has managed its domestic wastewater  by  building domestic wastewater treatment plant. Increasing officers caused  decrease performance and unsufficient capacities of WWTP. WWTP expansion is needed to address the problem of environmental pollution. The success of the development of WWTP is determined by input data (soil research data) with high accuracy, design, and construction. Number of failures of civil construction in recent years due to the use of land in excess of eksploitatif carrying capacity in general, for example, groundwater exctraction  in excess can cause degradation of land, construction of road above the critical height cause sliding and high buildings construction affect to the surrounding land. The research of the soil is required for the planning of WWTP BPP Teknologi. The study was to estimate the soil carrying capacity of the soil layers that had been done by conducting experiments such as the SPT (Standard Penetration Test), Sounding and Boring. Implementation of activities include soil testing in the field and soil testing in the laboratory,  physical test and mechanical test, test to determine the value of ground forces. Sondir was conducted in three locations until the impermeable soil and drilling was implemented in depth of 4,00 m.. Four tubes of soil samples  consisting disturbed soil and undisturbed soil from depth of 1,5 m – 2,00 m and 3,00 m – 3,50 m were taken from drilling to be analyzed in the laboratory. Keywords: IPAL, soil sounding and boring, Cone penetration test, pemampatan tanah

Abstract

Kabupaten of Anambas Island consists of small islands with a catchment area is minimal; therefore the availability of clean water for public water needs cannot be available at certain seasons. Water problems in Anambas especially in spring sources is a decrease in discharge of springs (water crisis) as well as damage to the Watershed (DAS). Only in District Tarempa who have a water treatment system, while the population of the other islands to get water from springs or surface water through pipes that are built individually and communally without any water treatment. The population and  activities of community in Anambas increased very rapidly while the infrastructure provided by the local government has not been adequate. In anticipation of these developments required a good city planning, particularly in the provision of clean water for people in Anambas Island. To determine how much water needs of the community in Anambas, should be calculated based on the population and projected water demand per person in accordance with standards established by Directorate General of Human Settlements Ministry of Public Works. The method used in calculating the projected water demand is the statistical method (arithmetic, least squares, geometric, or by using the trend of population growth in the form of regression method). Projected water demand results from the year 2013 to the year 2032 which has been calculated is Kecamatan Siantan, Central Siantan, Siantan East, South Siantan, Palmatak, Jemaja, East Jemaja and small islands with limited water availability. Based on the calculation of the projected water needs of the population, it has made planning the installation of water treatment plants following its installed capacity is achieved in stages in order to provide water services to all residents in Anambas Island. Keywords : Water resources, statistic method, installed capacity.

Abstract

“Co-benefits” refers to multiple benefits in different fields resulting from one policy, strategy or action plan.  As an example: policy or strategy taken on reducing GHG emission from transportation, would ensure better air quality, health, promoting the use of biofuels and other alternative energy sources. Industrial waste water or domestic wastewater household if not disposed of or treated with either will cause pollution. The high content of organic content in wastewater will lead to GHG emissions  impact on society as well as water pollution and odor pollution, Environmental Management in Industry Centers Adiwerna Tofu, Tegal regency was done by the management (cleaner production) and waste water treatment. Co Benefit analysis showed the relationship of environmental quality improvement occurs with the reduction of COD and capture methane gas that can be utilized for the community. The reduction of emissions in air can  reduce GHG. Method of estimated GHG reduction can be done by comparing GHG emissions before the project (baseline - BE) and after the implementation of projects co-benefits (project - PE). The evaluation was done by grouping into 3 tiers. Evaluation indicators are COD, BOD5, smell, CH4, while other indicators are  N, P and hazardous waste  indicators concerning health. Abstract

Menurunnya kualitas air Sungai Ciliwung dan rendahnya kemampuan pemurnian diri (self purification), memerlukan pengelolaan yang menyeluruh. Upaya – upaya telah banyak dilakukan untuk mengatasi berbagai permasalahan Sungai Ciliwung yang sangat kompleks tersebut. Berbagai instansi pemerintah, baik dari tingkat pusat, lokal dan bahkan masyarakat yang peduli kepada Sungai Ciliwung telah melakukan berbagai program dan kegiatan-kegiatan terpadu dalam pengelolaan Sungai Ciliwung, namun memang permasalahannya sangat berat, sehingga dibutuhkan kesungguhan dan waktu yang lama untuk dapat memulihkan Sungai Ciliwung. Salah satu program yang diperuntukkan bagi Sungai Ciliwung adalah Pengkajian aplikasi teknologi Online Monitoring untuk kualitas air yang ditujukan untuk mengendalikan dan memantau tingkat pencemaran air Sungai Ciliwung. Dalam pelaksanaan program dibutuhkan persiapan yang matang, terutama dalam koordinasi kelembagaan untuk pengelolaan sistem tersebut. Sesuai dengan program ini maka dilakukan penelitian untuk mendapatkan informasi terkait status kelembagaan DAS Ciliwung dan menempatkan sistem Online Monitoring dalam sistem kelembagaan yang sudah ada. Pembahasan ini meliputi penerapan koordinasi sistem pengendalian pencemaran DAS Ciliwung, permasalahan online monitoring dan alternatif pemecahannya.Kata kunci: Koordinasi, Kelembagaan, Online Monitoring

Abstract

The increasing variety of industrial activities in Indonesia resulted in ground water reserves in some areas experiencing drought. Exploitation of ground water by industry and the community in some big cities like Jakarta, resulting in the decrease of ground water and ground water quality reduced caused sea water instrusion. While the potential of wastewater produced by industrial and household waste high today. Based on the matters mentioned above and see the use of ground water that will be even greater in the future, then one of alternative that a lot of attention in many countries around the world are using wastewater reuse, particularly urban domestic wastewater (municipal wastewater) as a source of raw water for water supply. Abstract

Primary water source of people in  fisherman area in Kabupaten Pasir, Kalimantan Timur for daily water need generally is from  surface water  or deep well. Surface water is affected by water tide of sea water, so that almost all the time  in a year the water quality is salty or brakish. Beside high salt concentration, deep well quality  is also worst.  This is caused by poor environmental sanitation of fisherman community.  Rainy water use as water source alternative in problem solving for limited water drinking only provide in rainy season. Other alternative, people must find from other area where is far from their house or buy water with expensive price. To solve this critical problem is required the application of suitable  water treatment technology. This water treatment  technology must produce drinking water that meet technical standard and  the technology is applicable, easy and cheap in operation and maintenance because it is hoped that community in that area can manage, operate  and maintenance. Kata Kunci : Penduduk nelayan, penyediaan air bersih, teknologi pengolahan air bersih.

Abstract

The population is growing rapidly result to increased demand for drinking water while the other side of this situation causes to the increasing amount of wastewater. Waste water treatment plant has been built in several major cities in Indonesia to overcome the problem of pollution.  Wastewater treatment plant only treats wastewater to tackle environmental pollution without being able to overcome the shortage of clean water community. Therefore, to solve the existing problems will be considered any further processing with recycled waste water treatment. One technology that may be developed for this purpose is the system of Membrane Bioreactor (MBR). This has been widely applied as an advanced unit of wastewater treatment and serves as a unit of processing recycled waste water. The MBR system has advantages such as: it only takes a little bit of land, can treat wastewater with discharge varying quality and process wastewater with high pollutant removal efficiency. MBR were investigated using a membrane filter submerged in the reactor. Membrane module is hollow fiber with a form of polymeric membrane materials. Research has been done on wastewater treatment with a combination of conventional WWTP as preliminary and advanced processing unit with MBR since March 4, 2014 until June 2014. The effluent quality  of result research proved that  the treated water quality meets  water quality standards are set with  Permenkes RI N0.416/Menkes/Per/IX/1990, dated 3 September 1990. The nitrification and denitrification also proceed well so that the concentration of nitrite and nitrate meet the quality standards. In addition, the percentage removal of heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, chromium, selenium, lead) can reach 99%. Keywords: MBR, wastewater reuse, BOD5, COD, HRT dan SRT

Abstract

Coastal region is very potential area for developing in  sectors of fish, low and middle business from domestic industrial such as: food and husbandary food, fish net and shipping, services, trasnportation and travel. Concerning to high conomical potency in this coastal area is expected to be supporting area for central activities.  For this supporting in public facility  require elictricity, road and sea transportation, telecommunication, housing, health and the important is water supply.  In providing water supply infrastructure is needed good planning so that the result outcomes in right purpose and  beneficial for certain community. One of the supporting  in planning is to know social-economical condition of this community.
