Abstract

Since 2002, the discourse of pesantren has been linked to radicalism. This has led to a new typology of pesantren, namely radical pesantren. This typology of pesantren is usually known to adhere to the Salafi Jihadi ideology. This article examines how Salafi Jihadi pesantrens have radical tendencies. The study mainly focused on the literacy culture that was developed. By using the qualitative-phenomenological method, this article finds that several basic concepts in Islam, in this case, the enforcement of Islamic law and the concept of jihad, have been interpreted in a pejorative way by the Salafi Jihadi pesantren community, thus causing radical and counterproductive understanding and actions to religious values. The Salafi Jihadi pesantren is different from other pesantrens that have been known before. The Salafi Jihadi pesantren teaches not only material on the fiqh of ablution, prayer, or muamalah, but also on jihad and aḥkām al-dimmah (the law of shedding blood). In addition, it was also found that culture of literacy is apparently not the only factor that determines whether a pesantren can be labelled radical or not, but there are still many other supporting factors, such as the entry of ex-radicals to pesantren, lack of government control, exclusivity, and doctrinal pedagogy.

Abstract

This study aims to reinterpret the value of trust in Islamic banking through the perspective of maqashid al-sharia with a case study on Bank NTB Syariah. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design and interpretive paradigm, through the analysis of internal documents and relevant scientific literature. The results of the study show that trust is not only understood as trust in transactions, but as a holistic principle that includes moral, social, and spiritual responsibility in all banking activities. The implementation of trust has been reflected in various aspects of the organization such as governance, service, human resource management, and supervisory systems. However, there is still a gap between normative values and empirical reality that shows that the internalization of trust has not been fully consistent in organizational practices. This condition emphasizes the need to strengthen a value-based work culture and an institutional system that is able to bridge the gap between ideal values and real implementation. As the main contribution, this study offers an integrative model of trust as a sustainability strategy for Islamic banking that connects the spirituality, governance, social, and economic dimensions. This model is believed to be able to strengthen public trust, increase competitiveness, and maintain institutional sustainability in the long term. Therefore, leadership with integrity, strengthening organizational culture, and ethics-based evaluation systems are key factors in ensuring that trust is consistently internalized and has a real impact on the institution's performance and reputation.

Abstract

Professional zakat is one of the zakat instruments that can potentially improve the community's welfare. However, this potential has not been optimally exploited. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve the empowerment of zakat professionals. This study aims to analyze the strategy of empowering zakat professionals to improve community welfare in Central Lombok. This research uses qualitative research methods. This method collects data and information through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The data that has been collected is then analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that professional zakat has great potential to improve community welfare. Empowering professional zakat to improve community welfare in Central Lombok can be done in several ways, including increasing public awareness, organized professional zakat management, adequate professional zakat policies and regulations. So it can be concluded that the potential for professional zakat in NTB Province is very large and can be an important source of funds to improve community welfare. Professional zakat empowerment strategies need to be prepared and implemented in a planned and structured manner so that they can have a significant impact on improving community welfare.
