Abstract

A religious traditional art in society is related to myth which can be categorized into folktale. This tradition has been often become one in the Javanese mind and influential in giving direction to their lives. Concerning with myth is inseparable from people’s believed. The people believe which is appearing is usually established on the basis of a tale or story, which is descendant from the local people and unwritten but believed by the society so that it becomes tradition and culture encouragement. One of Indonesian ancestors’ heritages is leather puppet which can be enjoyed by us until now, although the form and the development conform to the development of the present modern world. Myth of the leather puppet in Javanese people themselves has been an icon, because the leather puppet it selves becomes myth which unified with tradition as well as Javanese people culture. So, other myth follows the leather puppet myth. One of the existing myths in society are the myth’s appearances of human’s skin puppet, mainly a traditional art of leather puppet the material of which is believed to be created from human’s skin. Kedakan village located in the slope of Merbabu valley which is remote and far from the city. Because of its remote location, this place leave culture heritage of the preserved ancestor’s tradition, such as human’s skin puppet. The appearing myth in the human skin puppet is that of believed that the puppet is created from human’s skin, therefore, the puppet is considered holy and highly respected. The sacredness of the puppet appears, since many misterious and illogical things happened related to the sacred puppet frequently. The myth which are still being preserved enables this leather puppet art in the remote village ever lasting and the existence is still being nurtured. Key words: Leather Puppet, Human Skin, and Myth

Abstract

One of the many works of art heritage in Indonesia is a shadow puppet performance(Wayang Kulit). Wayang Kulit is a one of branch of art that is popular and favored by someIndonesian, a work of art that is considering masterpiece based onphilosophical valuecontained in its story.Through the characters and the story, wayang has a role in building nation character.Since wayang is one of Indonesian valuable art tradition, if should be maintained and preservedin order to build and empower nation’s identity. The philosophy values in wayang alwaysincourage people to do a good spare not a harmful things, the spirit of commanding tho goodand fortidding unjust or a tern in the shadow puppet is “Memayu Hayuning Bebrayan Agung”,according to their own beliefs and religion.Islam as a religion that full of value and norm has its own rule for its follower. If thrfollower willing to obey the rule then he or she will get happines in the world and here after.Related to this effort, art is fully needed in the knowledge transfoemation process and valuableIslamic Education.Keyword: leather puppet, Art and Islam  Salah satu dari banyak karya seni warisan di Indonesia adalah kinerja wayang kulit(Wayang Kulit). Wayang Kulit adalah salah satu cabang seni yang populer dan disukai olehbeberapa Indonesia, sebuah karya seni yang sedang mempertimbangkan nilai onphilosophicalberbasis karya yang terkandung dalam cerita tersebut.Melalui karakter dan cerita, wayang memiliki peran dalam membangun karakterbangsa. Karena wayang merupakan salah satu seni tradisi yang berharga Indonesia, jika harusdijaga dan dilestarikan dalam rangka membangun dan memberdayakan identitas bangsa. Nilainilaifilsafat wayang selalu incourage orang untuk melakukan cadangan yang baik bukan halyang berbahaya, semangat memerintah tho baik dan fortidding tidak adil atau tern di wayangkulit adalah "Memayu Hayuning Bebrayan Agung", menurut keyakinan dan agama merekasendiri. Islam sebagai agama yang penuh nilai dan norma memiliki aturan sendiri untukpengikutnya. Jika thr pengikut bersedia untuk mematuhi aturan maka ia akan mendapatkankebahagiaan di dunia dan di sini setelah. Terkait dengan upaya ini, seni sepenuhnya diperlukandalam proses transfoemation pengetahuan dan Pendidikan Islam berharga.Kata kunci: wayang kulit, Seni dan Islam

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah sebuah eksplorasi penciptaan untuk mendapatkan produk keramikyang menekankan pada effect finishing guna terciptanya keramik yang memiliki nuansa etnisIndonesia sehingga dapat berkompetisi pada pasar global. Hal ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkandaya saing produk-produk para pengrajin keramik dalam rangka menghadapi pasar bebas asiatenggara atau sering disebut Masyarakat Ekonomi Asean (MEA). Target penelitian pada tahunpertama menciptakan produk keramik dengan finishing burning untuk memperoleh efek yangunik dan menarik. Teknik burning terhadap unsur cat baik yang water base maupun oil basedapat memberikan kesan antik dan maskulin sesuai dengan kecenderungan desain (trenddesain) saat ini. Metode yang dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan eksperimen pada prosesfinishing keramik guci untuk menghasilkan efek bakar. Kata Kunci: keramik, finishing burning effect, masyarakat ekonomi Asean.

Abstract

Application of Resin Coating Techniques to Leather Craft Works with the Ideaof Creation of Waterlily Plants is an individual idea inspired by the waterlily,  a type of aquatic ornamental plant with beautiful and positive philosophical  meaning and value. Inspired by the empirical gardening experience, the  inspiration was based on interest in the uniqueness of the waterlily in a pond. The  final project aimed to create panel work made of plant-based leather with as a creative concept. In the work creation, the approach method used was Monroe Beardsley's aesthetic with three elements: unity, complexity and intensity. The creationmethod used was SP. Gustami's creation method with 3 (three) stages and 6 (steps). The creation techniques used were knitting, cutting, pasting, sewing, and forming. The work creation achievement was leather artwork panel work by  visualizing a waterlily as the reference object. In the work creation, resin additives  as an adhesive and a skin coating were added as the work's aesthetic value. The final project focused on the aesthetic function of a decorative object.
