In medical education, SCL systems applied by the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method. Learning objectives in tutorial group discussion which is the implementation of PBL method in Sebelas Maret University Faculty of Medicine reflect the National Standard of Competence of Indonesian Medical Doctor that must be achieved by every medical student in Indonesia. As a new program at Sebelas Maret University Faculty of Medicine, tutorial group discussions roles in ushering students to achieve learning objectives is still in doubt. Until now, there has been no research on the effectiveness of a tutorial discussion on Sebelas Maret University Faculty of Medicine therefore authors are interested in doing this research. Methods: This research is an observational analysis research by cross sectional study approaching. The sample of this research is medical student of Sebelas Maret University Medical Faculty who are undergoing Hematology Block. Sample is taken by cluster sampling method, 43 persons randomly taken from 5 tutorial group of discussion. The chosen sample asked to undergo a pretest before first meeting of tutorial group discussion of Hematology Block. After the second meeting, sample then asked to undergo a posttest. The samples point results of pretest and posttest then compared and analyzed with McNemar method. Results: The percentage of learning objectives achievement from pretest is 7,00% and the percentage from posttest is 37,20%. McNemar test shown significant difference with p=0,000 (p<0,05). Conclusion: Tutorial group discussion is related with the achievement of learning objectives in Hematology Block. Keywords: tutorial group discussion, learning objectives, problem based learning

Student activity is also a founding way and a supervision method towards student activities in Sebelas Maret University. This research aims to determine the relationship between students time management skills with the achievement of student activities point system. Methods: Research design in this study using an observational analytic design with the type of cross-sectional study. The sample was the entire medical student class of 2011 who meet the criteria numbered 179 students. Data collection for time management questionnaire was taken in November 2014 using Time Management Self Assessment questionnaire from Fleet & Raume while the data of student activities point system was taken from Medical Student Executive Board of University of Sebelas Maret Surakarta. The data processed with Kolmogorov Smirnov and Spearmans rho test using a Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 17.00 for Windows software. Results:. The result of spearmans rho correlation test showed the value of correlation coefficient is -0.001 and p-value 0.985. Conclusions: student activity point system and the ability of time management did not have a significant relationship Keywords: SPKK, time management, student activity, student activity unit

Abstract

Background: There are 5 types of lecture available in PBL learning method model in Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sebelas Maret, namely: (1) introductory lecture, (2) supporting lecture, (3) final lecture, (4) workshops, and (5) courses. Supporting lecture is defined as lectures of subjects which are required to be understood by students, but not yet covered in tutorials, practical laboratory works, skills lab, or field lab. The present study aims to determine the relationship between given supporting lecture and the attainment of learning objectives which are designed as the implementation as the competency standard which has to be achieved by medical students. Method: The present study was an experimental quotient study, conducted by pretest posttest with control group. Obtained samples were divided into 2 groups, namely: group A and group B. Pretest was conducted on both groups, before group A had not received the supporting lecture. While, posttest was conducted on both groups, when group A had receveived the supprting lecture. Collected data was analyzed by using McNemar test and processed with Statistical Package for Social Sciences 20 ( SPSS 20 ) for Windows Release and p < 0.05 indicated signification. Result: The highest learning objectives attainment increase was seen on group A by 52%, while on group B was 4%. McNemar test showed there is a statistically significant difference on group A with p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and no significant difference on group B with p = 0.05. Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between given supporting lecture and the attainment one of Learning Objectives of Hematology which is only able to be fulfilled by supporting lecture in students of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta.
