Abstract

The tested soil sample in this research is sandy clay soil. The variations of procentage are 5%,10%, 15%, and 20%. Each of samples are cured in 14 days. Based on the physical soil propertiesinvestigation, AASHTO classified the soil sample into A-2-6 group (sandy clay soil), while USCSclassified the soil sample as soil with rough granules into SC group.The results of the research in the laboratory showed that the additive material using Merapi vol -canic ash could improve the physical and mechanical properties of organic clay soil. In the physi-cal test such as unit weight and Atterberg limit tests, the values decreased after it, while the me-chanical test of Merapi ash sample showed it could improve the value of unconfined compressionstrength soil. Based on the result of unconfined compression stregth test, soil which is stabilizedusing the ash of Mount Merapi increase until the optimum ash content about 20%.

Abstract

Soil samples were tested in this study are derived from Karang Anyar, South Lampung. Variationsin content of the mixture used were 6%, 8%, and 10% cement and 5% sand on every variation ofcement from 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days curing time as well as the burning treatment and no-burn combustion paving block samples. Based on the results of physical testing native soil, USCSsoil samples classify as fine-grained soil and included in the CL group.The results of this study is paving block that using clay, cement, and sand does not meet ISOpaving block. However, the addition of additives and curing can increase the physical and me-chanical properties of the soil. This is proved by the increasing value of the optimum moisturecontent and density of the mixture. For the compressive strength of paving blocks without and withburning process are best shown in the addition of a mixture of 10% with 28 days curing time

Abstract

Secara umum teori – teori masalah rembesan/seepage yang kita hadapi di lapangan dipecahkan dengan memakai cara-cara teoritis yang tepat tetapi untuk soal-soal dua dimensi dan keadaan tanah yang homogen/seragam kita dapat memperoleh pemecahan yang cukup tepat dengan memakai hand sketching/flownet atau juga garis freatik dan cara empiris seperti penggunaan metode line/creep line Penelitian ini menganalisa angka aman seepage/piping berapa besar debit rembesan yang terjadi pada tubuh bendungan urugan dan juga pada pondasi bendungan spillway karena debit rembesan yang terjadi diijinkan 1% dari total Q sungainya. Untuk nilai piping pada pondasi bendungan urugan saat Muka Air Normal(MAN) tanpa cut off nilainya 1,88 < 4 dan saat Muka Air Banjir(MAB) nilainya 2,58 < 4 belum aman terhadap bahaya piping namun saat Muka Air Normal(MAN) dengan cut off nilainya 2,97 < 4 dan saat Muka Air Banjir(MAB) dengan cut off nilainya 4,08 > 4 Aman terhadap bahaya piping. Untuk nilai piping pada pondasi spillway saat Muka Air Normal(MAN) tanpa cut off nilainya 1,79 < 4 dan saat Muka Air Banjir(MAB) dengan cut off nilainya 2,47 < 4 belum aman terhadap bahaya piping namun saat Muka Air Normal(MAN) dengan cut off nilainya 2,97 < 4 dan saat Muka Air Banjir(MAB) dengan cut off nilainya 4,06 > 4 Aman terhadap bahaya piping
